Chasing a target of 277, South Africa made a shaky start to their innings. Aiden Markram fell early, attempting an unnecessary slog against Nauman Ali, only to be bowled by one that drifted in sharply — a poor shot given the match situation. Wiaan Mulder followed soon after, caught in two minds and edging a delivery to slip for a duck, also off Nauman’s bowling.

However, Ryan Rickelton showed composure against spin, displaying confident footwork and sound technique. He did enjoy a stroke of luck when Abdullah Shafique dropped him on 26 at short leg — a costly miss for Pakistan. At the other end, Tony de Zorzi looked assured and in good touch. With both batters in form, their partnership will be crucial if South Africa are to mount a serious challenge.

That said, the visitors still require 226 more runs on a deteriorating surface, making their task an extremely difficult one.

That delivery was 140.4 too. I think we are starting to see Shaheen get his pace back. We saw it in the Asia Cup.

A huge positive sign for sure.

I've said it before and will say it again, Pakistan have won this, any team batting first will win. And that's final.

Lmao. Saffers struggling. Even the greatest SENAW sides in history have never chased down 277 in the fourth innings in IND/PAK/SL/UAE. What chance did this Saffer side have?

if it will be in england.... Pakistan will win :D
England will get drubbed by Aus in ashes. Aus is 100% confirmed at 1-2 for Wtc.

Most likely India vs Aus final unless Aus pulls a NZ and shocks india at home.

But if Pakistan prepares these pitches and somehow pulls a miracle in England they'll go through.

Pk has the easiest entry into wtc this time around. Away oppositions (excluding england aren't tough) and at home they can finally beat sides like SA easily provided they bat first.

But I feel like PK will find a way to mess things up like they always do.

You really have to appreciate the way rickelton bats though. He bats like a veteran pro in Asian conditons.

This SA team is very good

Their full strength bowling attack for sena conditions is better than any of their past attacks

Nauman chacha appealing like crazy for everything. At this point, captains across the format should completely ignore bowlers requests for reviews.

This is not the strongest sa attack bhai. Idkw you hype them up so much, their past side was better.

The only thing this team knows how to do better then SA of old is dominate in SENA but thats due to understanding SENA conditons better, not cause their stronger.

Im not saying the difference is night and day but the old era is slightly superior in strength.

What does that have to do with Asian conditions which are completely different? They can't bat in these conditions

There will be a temptation to pair Abrar with Noman for the next match. Sajid is a good conventional off-spinner but needs a lot of help from the wicket to be effective.

I don't get what Ramiz is talking about...

SL best spinner in Tests is a left arm spinner. Maharaj is great for SA. There's Jadeja as well. In fact, it's leg spin that is a dying art in Tests. It might be completely dead at this point. There hasn't been a notable leg spinner in Tests since Yasir with every team opting for left or right arm spinners who offer control and tight length.

Brevis guy is dangerous... Get him out asap... Ryan is also well settled... This is getting serious now

As expected 2 wickets gone. Surprise only 2. Stubbs and Brevis are great LOI players. Completely unsuitable for long format on tracks like this. They need feisty guys who can hang around.THey don't know how to defend balls

Nomi bhai can't fathom what's hit him in this over. As I said yesterday, one freak/aggressive innings from SA is all it will take to win. And Brevis is doing that.

These two are very dangerous players . Need magic delivery from Noman chachu to gey rid of them :kp

Brevis is an unfinished product at test level. He hsa to learn how to keep good balls away. Right now he is going after everything. He will perish soon. Stubss is even worse.

Mulder is not a no.3 batsman. He is at nest no.6 or 7. Almost all teams in the world are going through some kind of experiment to find out the best no.3

@mominsaigol 25 off 26 atm. and He is not gonna stop,,,looking like he is gonna play t20 stuff
Can you, @DeadlyVenom @Nikhil_cric and @Devadwal

Stop blaming me if whatever I say the opposite happens? It is not my fault if Pakistan loses.

I back them to win, This jinx is nonsense, it is all a series of coincidences. I am not responsible for this.

Pakistan is winning. Nuff said.

Pakistan need to break this partnership now and need another 2 wickets before the lunch break

Most useless selection in this game was Abdullah and Hassan Ali... Absolutely crap

Pakistan have found No-man for home Test matches.

They just need to find a Yes-man for overseas conditions!

Sorry, couldn't resist (and I will see myself out).

Brevis is a special player and talent. Feared he would shock the Pakistani team.

I just came to know Abdullah Shafique has dropped Rickelton last evening.

How many times we have seen a non performing batter or a bowler dropping a crucial catch too? Hassan vs Aus in T20 WC, Talat vs India recently and now this guy.

Your non performers will ensure they don't contribute anything positive to the team. PCB need to learn this.

I think you can see your money getting drowned slowly...LOL

I don't understand what PCB even see in Abdullah tbh? Ik PK is dry on talent but their not that dry? Abdullah is a Nepal level Lower card talent lol.

Pakistan will easily walk away with a victory. SA has a flat chance in hell of winning

Hassan Ali to his credit has bowled well. However having 2 pacers on this pitch where they bowl 5-10 overs is overkill. Another spinner or even another batter would've been better.

Partnership looking ominous for Pakistan.

Another 50 runs and heads will drop.

When chasing a modest total, even if you have a top order collapse, you just need 1 or 2 small partnerships and you are almost there

Easier said than done but need to get Brevis out soon

Hassan is like a bowling machine... No danger...

277 is a modest total only in England lol
