What's new

Pakistan [378, 86/3] defeat South Africa [220, 245] by 7 wickets in the 1st Test in Karachi

Babar is exceptional when on song. Defense, footwork, timing, wrists etc. everything gets going.

This is the kind of shot Imran Butt was trying to play but, this is how you do it. Needs to learn from the skipper

He needed to play today to remove the rustiness after not batting in an international for fair bit of time, ans coming back from hand injury. Sublime batsman to watch and good temperament.

32 more to go. Hopefully Babar can finish it in his first test as captain.

In Rawalpindi I think SA should go for Mulder for that no 7 all rounder position. He bowled pretty well vs Srl in SA and obviously has much more batting pedigree than Linde. SA should go with one spinner and if they want to go with two Ngidi should make the way.

Root entered top 5 of test rankings. Time for Babar to enter it again, hopefully in this series itself.

Honestly speaking, Ngidi is the type of bowler that would be a Zimbabwe atg level type. He's not good enough to be the third seamer to Rabada and Nortje

It could be a constant rotation as I expect Root to play couple of good innings in India and Babar to play atleast one good one in the next test.

The coverage has been great but this tapal tea ad is annoying me it’s cringe to the max

Would like to see intent like this from Pak batting even when they are not chasing a small total.

Don't you feel he is better than any of our no 2 pacers atm?

I think Pakistan is the only country that has introduced this kind of nautanki in test cricket. Haven't seen this anywhere else.

He used to be 140+ .

Don't know whats happened to him.

I have watched him touch even 150kph (If speed gun was correct) on an occasion or two in SA. I think players do go through phases and fitnesses issues. Even Faheem was bowling 140 Kph+ couple of years ago. One common thing is injuries and fitness issues.

Terrible captaincy from De Kock. Maharaj got Babar out in 1st innings but wouldnt give him a ball. Clearly seamers are struggling here but comtinuing with them.

he looks as good as Faheem Ashraf tbh.

Im disappointed at Hassan Ali, he has become a massive trundler and more of an entertainer than a cricketer.

Beauty of playing in the home conditions. Also the more they win the more confident they would get of their own abilities, but likes of Pujara and Azhar will always ay the same.

Height makes him betteron bouncing wicket for wicket taking.

Hopefully Pindi outfield will not look like a grazing field for cattle.

Embarrassing stuff by PCB, and they are deluding themselves into thinking that they will get rights for ICC tourneys.

be patient with him. The guy's body was broken. he will need time to get his groove.

thanks for your enlightened comments. Even when we are winning your whining about something.

Look at this filth.

You can’t be bowling like this at international test cricket.

Looking on to the Pindi test, I'm thinking that we make a few required changes to our bowling attack.

For now, Shaheen merits a spot. Yasir Shah or Nauman Ali will be the biggest decision, because both have performed well and performed. Whoever is dropped needs to be assured that they are still in the plans.

If we can make Pindi a dryer wicket than usual, I think that we should go into the game with this squad:

Imran Butt
Abid Ali (I would want Azhar to open, but I don't think he seems keen to do so.)
Azhar Ali
Babar Azam (c)
Fawad Alam
Mohammad Rizwan (vc)(wk)
Faheem Ashraf
Yasir Shah
Shaheen Shah Afridi
Tabish Khan
Haris Rauf

Haris can bowl at higher speeds than Hasan, and I think that he'll use reverse swing better at that pace. However, he is very inexperienced, so I don't know if he'll be the best decision.

That's just my opinion. Will most likely play Hasan Ali, though playing Haris would be an interesting decision.

Hasan Ali admiring the shot of his captain like no tmw.

I get that but then I would also hope that he puts more energy in getting back to his best instead of his TikTok or Instagram stories

Apart from some patches around the pitch they playing on I do not see what are you making fuss about?

Ngidi bro, apply for Pakistan nationality. We could do with a bowler like you

I personally dont mind these Tapal tea kind of gimmicks in test cricket as far as sponsors take interest. Might as well get that osaka/invertex races going as well around the boundary line. :smith

Emphatic performance by Pakistan. Dominated the whole game apart from a couple sessions, will be a comfortable win in the end.

Oh hoo why are you watching? I thought you only watched the match when VD was batting, lol. You can't resist, can you:'D?

South Africa only have themselves to blame. Their self-destruction in the first innings in terms of poor shot selection and reckless running was almost criminal.

If you cannot beat this dreadful Pakistan side after winning the toss and batting first, you need a good hard look in the mirror.

Not impressed with Pakistan’s performance. South Africa lost the match with their indisciplined cricket rather than Pakistan outclassing them.

The only saving grace so far in this series is the 1080p coverage on PCB YouTube channel.

There will be at max one change that too Tabish may come in for Hasan Ali.

Linde has to be the most 1 dimensional Test cricketer in the history of the game

This is a county 2s level player! Surely SA can play a better non coloured cricketer in this slot available to them?

Honestly speaking, Ngidi is the type of bowler that would be a Zimbabwe atg level type. He's not good enough to be the third seamer to Rabada and Nortje

Even Nortje is a poor red ball bowler. SA need to find couple of good quicks asap to partner Rabada.

Chris Morris no longer plays test? He was a good bowler.

I am sure shamzi will.come in so will moulder...pak.shoulf make changes and give abdullah shafiq a go he cant do worse than abid or imran butt but that wnt happen. Fast bowlers need to be rotated as well ..i mean nobody has mentioned how pathetic our fast bowlers have been but if naseem was playing he would have been criticized so much

What is this joke man? Are you going to be killed by left arm off spin forever now?

Babar continues to struggle with left arm spin. Wonderful batsman but he's lucky he never had to play a peak Herath like the rest of our middle order legends

To an extent you are right however if you look at it from another point of view, you had a pakistan team low on confidence some new players and a new captain. It is a good gritty fightback win. Not really pakistans problem if saffers forget how to play test cricket.

Well done to Pak team on a good win. I think Pak wasnt at its best with quite a few players under performing so hopefully these things are sorted before the next test.

Lol at those who compare Babar Azam to Kohli, Williamson, Smith.

Oh dear. First ball he faces to the left arm spinner and he's on his way.

No matter, played brilliantly up until then. Just needs to spent a little more time against Nauman in the nets

Babar has a problem against left arm spin?
Twice he missed a straight ball

Terrible captaincy from De Kock. Maharaj got Babar out in 1st innings but wouldnt give him a ball. Clearly seamers are struggling here but comtinuing with them.

What did I say? Should have brought in Maharaj earlier. De Kock's captainy

Let this be a lesson. Azhar is our best Test bat, then Fawad, then Babar. I’ve been saying this for a while.

My lineup for Pindi:

1. Imran Butt
2. Azhar Ali
3. Saud Shakeel
4. Babar Azam
5. Fawad Alam
6. Mohammad Rizwan (wk)
7. Faheem Ashraf
8. Hassan Ali
9. Yasir Shah
10. Nauman Ali
11. Shaheen Afridi

Why on earth are you crying about the outfield ?:dw

It’s lightning fast as it should be.

Dude just log off, Pakistan winning is not good for your health.

Babar's weakness against LA spin continues.

Kuldeep, Embuldeniya, now Maharaj.

Needs to get to the pitch of the ball.

The way he plays it is by letting the ball come onto the bat. The problem with doing that is that if the ball spins past the bat, the LBW call is prominent unless it spins a mile.

Babar plumb lbw.

A real issue with Babar and spin developing. Both wickets weren't exactly unplayable deliveries. Other teams will seize upon that.

De-Kock missed a big trick by not bringing on Maharaj straight away when Babar Azam came out into the middle.

That wasnt a straight one..first one was but now maharaj must be thinking he has the wood on.him

Maharaj having wood over Babar till now. Time for Younis to have a session with Babar to get his issues agianst SLA sorted.

chulo jee..he played the wrong line..I think YK needs to have a word with supershtaar..

When will babar sort out this problem of left arm spin teams will literally play a left arm spinner in their team just for him as he’s the only batsman they would have to take care of in the Pakistan team

He is coming back from an injury spare him guys for sometime atleast.
When smith goes to ashwin then we all start hiding.
He has weakness against left armers but i have no doubt he ll sort this out
