What's new

Pakistan [426] wrap up innings and 116-run victory against Zimbabwe [176, 134] inside 3 days

I actually expect a big fightback as Zimbabwe playing home and pitch is good enough to bat being only third day.

Either too short or too full. Story of Pakistan bowlers so far.

I feel we will get a bunch of wickets falling soon - reverse-swing should come in handy now

Good effort from Zim.

Showing some fight and guts.

Suicidal running.

Should finish this today.

Sajid showing lot of heart in fielding. Pak fielding has definetly improved a lot.

Catch by Hassan was impressive.

Slip fielding needs to improve other than that so far a professional performance.

Sajid should given a go in the last session

Guys How is Babars captaincy??

I personally think his captaincy has matured pretty well in the last few series. Bowling changes have been generally been good, field settings and overall tactics against individual batsmen do need bit of further fine tuning but he is pretty young in the role so will get better.

Why you want it finish today. Whether we beat them today or tomorrow it would still be a comprehensive win.

Yaar I'm busy tomorrow 😀. So rare these days that I get a whole Sat AM to sit and watch 2+ test sessions. Would be nice to get a bunch of wickets!

Nice catch! Also good to see some stumps cartwheeling the wicket before.

OK that good that you are not one of those Pak posters that will start spreading doom and gloom when a wicket does not fall for and hour. It is test match, some people have no patients.

Yeah I hear you on that..many such 'fans' lately. I don't know why they bother following our team and furthermore take time to post about their negative feelings on here.

Shahnawaz dhani still looks like he can’t believe he made it to the tour at the end their, hopefully gets a go next game.

Good win for Pakistan.

It was expected but they totally demolished the opposition as they should be doing, it shouldn’t be competitive against this Zimbabwe side like it was in 2013. One reason for this is our seam bowling looks significantly better compared to then.

Let Pakistan bashing begin. The opposition was Zimbabwe, why not India or Australia? The match was won inside 3 days, why not 2?Pakistan scored 426, why not 926? Hassan Ali got 5, why is he deceiving us? Fawad Alam scored a century, but so can my niece against Zimbabwe so why celebrate? Pakistan domestic cricket has no talent, so why did Pakistan not play those no talent players in Zimbabwe, why play the slightly more talented one's? Pakistanis are not playing in IPL because they are not good enough, so why should they be celebrated? Tests are the ultimate form of cricket but in this case, it is IPL so why play tests? The same Pakistani cricketers can't make it in IPL because they have no ability, so why bother watching their Zimbabwe games? Pakistan habitually loses games to Zimbabwe so why did they win this first test?

if Pakistan win the 2nd test - how many points do we gain?

Just 1 point as Zimb is ranked pretty low. However, will have to win that otherwise we will lose 1 point and points will equal with SA and will most likely go to number 6.

I think there can be a case for margin of victories to be taken into account for rankings across the formats, will possibly make it more interesting I think.

I think that covers everything :))

A very one sided affair, Pakistan were quite clinical.

Babar Azam, Pakistan captain: The bowlers exploited moisture in the first session on Day 1 and bowled them out for a low score. Hasan was outstanding in the first innings and the openers started well, we just carried the momentum, and Fawad's finishing was excellent. Our plan was to score big, but we lost back to back wickets today and couldn't achieve it. The line and length was brilliant from our bowlers in this Test, especially Hasan Ali. We will have to see, have three days off, want to rest.

Now PCB will extend Misbah and Waqar's contract for another 2-3 years to keep their job safe even after coming T20 disaster.

Good clinical performance .
Hopefully the management relies that thier is no need to play both shaheen and Hassan Ali and azhar.i expect atleast 2 changes in the next game.

Pakistan registered a comprehensive victory by an innings and 116 runs and went 1-0 up in the two-match Test series.

Pakistan rode on the foundation laid by Fawad Alam (140) and Imran Butt (91), which helped them set a first-innings lead of 250 runs. The visitors wrapped the Zimbabwe innings for 134 runs with a sensational bowling display led by Hasan Ali who took a five-for in the second innings.

After the resumption of the third day’s play, Hasan couldn’t extend on the previous day's start and immediately lost his wicket to Blessing Muzarabani, caught by the keeper.

Unfortunately for Pakistan, Fawad had started running out of partners at the other end. The pressure eventually cost him his wicket. A fabulous inning of 140 off 204 balls from him was studded with 20 fours, which came to an end when he edged the ball to Regis Chakabva.

The Pakistani lower middle order was dealt by Muzarbani who finished with a four-wicket haul with Fawad becoming his final victim as Pakistan were bowled out for 426/10.

Zimbabwe batting line-up could sense the tremor of collapse that took them down in the first innings. Coming in behind with a trail of 250 runs, they were provided with a decent start by the openers Tarisai Musakanda and Kevin Kasuza with a 48-run stand.

Despite lapses in the field and dropped chances, Pakistan's bowling attack led by Hasan Ali continued to apply force over the hapless Zimbabwe batters. Kasuza became Hasan’s first wicket of the day, out leg before wicket for 28.

Milton Shumba, batting at number three, couldn’t dent the lead and went cheaply for 4 to Nauman Ali. Musakanda was accompanied by his captain Brendan Taylor who came out with an aggressive mindset. He smashed a quick 33-ball 29 but was dismissed when Hasan completed a brilliant catch running backward from deep mid-off.

The Zimbabwe batters fell like dominos. They went from 92/2 to 134/9, their second innings wrapped in the span of 46.2 overs.

As Prince Masvaure was injured, he couldn’t come out to bat, with Pakistan sealing the victory with an innings and 116 runs.

Hasan Ali was the pick of the bowlers and registered his career-best figures of 5/36 in a Test innings, taking a total of nine scalps in the match. He also crossed the milestone of 50 Test wickets.

Job done.

Weak opposition, but that's not Pakistan's fault.

In the next match replace Shaheen and Abid with Dhani and Shafiq. Not sure if Faheem can be rested too and one of Tabish or Rauf replace him.Tabish is too old now so it will be better to develop Rauf.He can be expensive but can take wickets.Difficult decision.

I am completely against playing Dhani - 100%.

It is one more case of an unproven bowler taking place of someone who has delivered in First Class day in and day out.

Dhani is young and will get his chances.
