What's new

Pakistan A [223/9] beat New Zealand A [222] by one wicket in first One-Day game

Yes, or very slight difference. Rizwan's keeping may have improved in recent times, can't say.

Don't worry both are comfortably better than "explosive" Kami. Keep crying

Where did Kami come from? He's a quite poor keeper. Likely a level below Rizwan and Sarfraz.

How do you so severely lack coherent thought and thinking? Who even said anything about Kami? Junaid Khan fan after all.. :junaid

Rizwan almost single handedly won the match, excellent stuff as leader taking the responsibility.

He always had the talent but just like some other talented players of Pak, lacked the confidence. I think after certain talent its all about self beleif which many players lack.

Should be in the side ahead of Sarfraz.

He should have been given more chances in dead rubber games so we can see what he does. He had 1 bad series against Australia and has hardly played since.

Good keeper but his batting was poor . Hope he has improved.

I have had been in debate with few posters and they tell me Rizwan is an absolutely rubbish batsman. I may be biased but test format is his best suit. I remember MMHS once did agree with me on it but TalentSpotterPk has not. All because Rizwan was dealt weird hands at start of his international career.

I think, after this game his List A stats stands at 45/87 for over 3K runs - take out ODI, it's close to 50/85, which is excellent in any consideration. His last 8 ODI earned probably 70 runs at 10-12 average, otherwise when he played as specialist bat in ODI, it was like 35/95. Add to that almost 4K FC runs at 43 - guy can definitely bat. His domestic stats are better than many specialist batsman in PAK team. Not the best WK technically, but he is extremely fit and has improved keeping considerably in last couple of years - more preciously, when he got Rixon to train him. His keeping was outstanding in AUS.

I don't think he is good enough to make PAK XI as specialist bat in any format, while Sarfraz is Captain & WK, albeit an inferior one, and Sarfraz isn't good enough batsman to make it as specialist bat (& Captain) to accommodate Rizwan as WK - so what's the solution?

So far, PCB had kept Sarfraz comfortable by not picking any back-up WK, a stand that changed after Asia Cup, but now both of them have performed in their last game, therefore I think the status co is perfectly balanced - Rizwan will be part of squad, but Sarfraz will play while PCB'll deprive couple of younger players a chance in A squad to balance it out for Rizwan as well. It's a compromise started from the day PCB appointed a WK as Captain in 3 formats, who isn't best available in his core job, unfit for the work load & isn't good enough to make the XI on pure batting merit.
