This is unjust to play Wahab over Junaid, I pray Pakistan doesn't pay the price for such mistake, I honestly foresee Wahab to end up with figures of 10-0-86-1.
Junaid is a better wicket taking option. He should have been considered. His 2 or 3 wickets (including the early wicket of Kohli) at the cost of 55-65 runs could have done the job.

thats cuz i guess if there is ever an oppurtunity for brainless wahab to fire,its now.These sort of emotinoally charged situations are when he is at his best.

Yes, but Kohli was all at sea against Irfan as well. If not Junaid, Irfan would have dismissed and he actually did in the second ODI.

anyhow bunny is a relative term that is basically used for banter, and I refuse to take it seriously, you can't describe it using a few examples for players you don't feel an attachment towards... I still feel 3 in 3 games is a pretty big achievement specially if its someone like Kohli

Yes thrice. For some reason, I have memory of Irfan dismissing him in the second ODI, maybe because he struggling against everyone in that series and not just Junaid.
People can consider Kohli Junaid's bunny, kitten or puppy, I don't mind, but my only issue is with the naive assessment that Junaid will continue to have wood over him, even though their careers have gone in the completely opposite direction. Kohli is one of the best batsman in the world now, while Junaid defines mediocrity.

Of course he is not. How many times have they played each other? It is difficult for Afridi to make any good bowler his bunny because of the way he plays. Smart bowlers have always worked him out eventually. Over the course of a series or two, Ashwin will get the better of Afridi.

WAHAB is much better then junaid... WAHAB can bowl 140/150 kmph!! while junaid bowls at 120-130 kmph and will go for a hundred runs... don't forget WAHAB can bat too and make fast half centuries!!! While junaid would most likely gonna get a duck.. this is England... the ICC made flat pitches to suit the indians that offer no swing... WAHAB is much better on flat English pitches And overcast conditions... he will be the real MOTM I PREDICT!!! YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST!!! WA-HAB!!!! WA-HAB!! WAHAB!!
At least, Wahab can try to beat batsmen in air speed - at present, JK is inferior version of left handed Jed Drenbach. Also, the new ball isn't swinging much.
Wahab at least will add few runs with bat & in fielding - JK would never score enough to match his fielding laps. Ideally none should have been in squad, but not much choice here.

It's between one bad choice and another. We could always get lucky but Wahab or Junaid
won't make a difference with India 9 times out of 10. That said, this roster really reeks of
cowardice. These batsmen are constitutionally incapable of 'going on the attack'

They're all awful. Junaid last took 3 wickets in 2013. He's a shadow of his former self.

Since I prefer Hassan to bowl in middle overs so I would give new ball to faheem alongside amir. If he goes around the park in first couple we can turn to Hassan

Same goes for Amir, he is just shadow of a bowler he once was, Should we drop him on basis of this logic? In 2013 period, even Shoaib Malik was going through a rough phase. Should we bench him on this logic? We are in 2017 where Junaid narrowly outperformed Wahab in Australia and West Indies.
Wahab is an overrated bowler who was never a match winner and will never be. Junaid on the other hand hasn't put the world on fire either but on merit alone he deserves to be ahead of Wahab Riaz.
I don't want to go far to argue that Junaid is a better match winner than Wahab but I will stop here as stats also prove that Junaid deserves to play on merit not Wahab.
I wish Wahab Riaz was a batsman whose average of 69 in West Indies and 104 in Australia would have made him the first choice on the paper but sadly those are just his bowling figures in 2017.

No offense bro, but this is the same sort of clutching at straws that Bhartis pull out with WC wins whenever we read them the overall head to head score between Pak and India.
If someone can be kind enough to post his average and SR in the last 1 year, would actually be a much more relevant indicator to what we are about to experience today.....

After WC 2015, Wahab averages 69.9 at an economy of 6.9.
If Shadab plays and is taken apart by the Indian batsmen, the psychological effects could haunt him for years and damage his precocious talent. Not sure if it's wise to play someone so inexperienced in such an important game. A few slogged sixes to midwicket and he might crumble in front of the raucous crowd.

I don't deny his historical incompetence outside of tournaments. However, I feel he transforms into a different beast once a big tournament comes around. Of course, there are no guarantees, and he is also pretty old for such a one-dimensional fast bowler. Junaid also looks well past his best, so I don't think we'll really be missing out.

Selective 12 wins which makes Pakistanis shake when remembering them? Come now, who are you trying to fool? No amount of false bravado (and Kitply cup wins) can extinguish the pain of Bangalore 96, Mohali 11 and JoBurg 2007. Even on this site you can see so many posters mention these as their worst cricket matches ever.
But I guess you can keep pretending about your Kitply cups and Cool and Cool cups etc to put up a brave face while getting manhandled at the highest levels.

Thank God Junaid is sitting this one out, that man is a proven choker. At least Wahab tends to step up during ICC events and has it in him to produce something special. Now, all we need is for Shadab to get the nod ahead of Fahim.
My only real complaint is the opening combination, but I was never expecting it to be any different so I can't say that I'm surprised.

Wahab Riaz averages 13.69 with the bat at a strike rate of 82... while Junaid CANT BAT AT ALL, embarrassingly he averages 4.61 at a strike rate of 52!!! Wanna know something else? Wahab has much better fitness—which is probably he was selected in the XI.. Wahab has a much better bowling action, can bowl really long spells, and stay cool longer... Wahab can field million times better as well..

Wahab shouldn't be selected. I'm stunned they continue to think he's useful.

Azhar is also okay. At least he should be able to negotiate moving ball early on. And doesn't seem all that fidgety and streaky. Though I would have definitely wanted a more capable opener. And no it would have been unfair to throw in Fakhar in such pressure-cooker game.
My only problem is with Ahmad Shahzad. He is a proven failure time and again. Never once has he stood up to the task and doesn't give any assurance or semblance of progress. He is, to me, epitome of the depths to what our cricket has sunk in last few years. I can't even call him mediocre. He's actually third-rate. And the fact this guy tops the charts in domestic cups speaks volumes about what other crap talent we have in the pipelines.

No the entire tournament, Junaid averaged 102. While other seam bowlers did great in that CT, even BK averaged 22.

A lot of hate for Wahab on this thread. Trust me, I don't think anyone hates Wahab as much as I do. From the very beginning I've been saying that he's a poor man's Sami but honestly, he does show up in big games and if I had to pick between him and Junaid. I would go with him.

Hideous squad. In this day and age of modern cricket where strike rates are more important than batting averages, our top three consist of three snails : Shehzad, Azhar and Hafeez. Pathetic.

I don't know under which scenario is Azhar a better choice that Harris. With Hafeez opening and Harris in at 4, you solve two problems. Your middle order (Babar, Harris, Shoaib) actually looks quite good and with Hafeez forced to open, either he scores (good) or fails (more likely) and then doesn't ruin the rest of the innings. I would take his typical knock upfront rather than in the middle of the innings, and lets be honest, its not like Azhar will do any different.
Well there is nothing to do about it now. Let's just hope he is less of an embarrassment than he was, when he last played against India.

While with Immad the best you can hope for is that he doesn't go for too many runs and tries to field decently.
