Since the last 36 hours, there have been a number of attempts by Pakistan to disturb peace in the valley and target Amarnath Yatra, the army statement said. The statement added that forces had recovered cache of sniper rifle, IED and mine with Pakistan markings. 'This clearly indicates the complicity of Pakistan in terror activities. Security forces will continue to respond to all nefarious activities along LoC and hinterland,' the statement said.
The Army also said that four bodies of possibly Pak SSG Commandoes or terrorists have been seen on Indian side of LoC, in close proximity of posts. The search operations and attempts to recover bodies are being continuously interfered by Pakistan troops deployed in the area.
On the early hours of Saturday morning, around 5.30 am, the Sopore Police, 22-RR and CRPF launched a joint cordon and search operation. The operation was conducted after the forces received credible intelligence about the presence of terrorists in the Malmapanpora village of Warpora area.
The Forces recovered incriminating materials including arms and ammunition from the encounter site. The police have registered the incident as Case FIR No. 52/2019 U/S 307/RPC, 7/27 I. Arms Act Bomai Police Station and investigation has been taken up.
Wani had joined the terrorist ranks on 2 June, 2019 and since then was active within the jurisdiction of Police District Sopore with other terror operatives of Jaish-e-Mohammad. Both the slain terrorists were involved in a series of civilian killings and attacks on Security Forces establishment.
