Jaffar Express resumes operation from Peshawar after 17-day gap [Update@ Post#683]

It's very tough to be sympathetic to the Balochi tribal fighters. Sure they want freedom from Pakistan but just like the Kurds in Turkey, Hamas in Palestine, Basques in Spain and to an extent, even the old Northern Irish Catholics, they only want it to maintain their legacy of control over the populace. They ride on genuine grievances and dicsconnectedness of the local populace and use terror on innocents as a weapon.

I think India's making the same mistake by funding them as the Americans did with the Taliban. Sure in the short term, it's easy to rationalize "enemy of my enemy is my friend." In the long term though, this has the potential to come back to bite us. Even today, from what I read, Indian agents have to pretend to be Iranians, Arabs etc. in order to get the rank and file Balochis to accept our funding. The underlying hate for India (essentially any outsider) is still there.

I would definitely be more comfortable with Punjabi dominated army of Pakistan having nukes rather than TTP or other radical groups getting hold of them.

The army generals of Pak have a lot to lose unlike some of these terrorists who are ready to kill or die especially with a religious mandate.

Like you condemned the Russian invasion? Most Indians are definitely condemning this way more than you condemned Russia.

BLA are terrorists and what Russians?
He is biggest hypocrite on this forums so better to ignore him :kp

Can mods just lock this thread or regulate it.

Should peoples death be trolled around here? And should BLA statements be posted here?

Agree.

It is mindboggling they are doing this on this thread. It is disrespectful toward all the families who lost their loved ones.

Then again, decency is not something you can expect from the Indians generally.

They are full of hubris and haughtiness. Maybe it will cause their downfall at some point.

In human history, there were many haughty ethnic groups like this. They perished. Indians should learn from history.

Jaffar Express attack: FIA register cases for spreading fake news

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has registered cases against three individuals for spreading fake news about the Jaffar Express attack, ARY News reported.

Three cases were registered against Ahmad Noorani, Shafiq Ahmad Advocate, and Aina Durkhanai under the PECA Act by FIA Cyber Crime Islamabad.

According to the FIRs, the accused have spread anti-state propaganda online, inciting hatred against national institutions following the attack. They used their verified social media accounts to promote a banned organization and create public uncertainty.

The FIA is investigating further to identify additional accounts involved in spreading malicious propaganda, the FIA spokesperson said.

I don't know...why would you?

Except the rest of your post is a carefully constructed defence of the terrorists despite the crocodile tears, and a reinforcement of India's anti-Pakistan stance despite your claims it isn't. You can claim that an unstable Pakistan is in no one's interests, but the truth is, Indian govt actions do not align with this. So either you are lying or your govt is.

Acknowledging the plight of the Baloch people or pointing out that Pakistan actively backed the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan isn’t defending terrorism or being anti Pakistan. It’s just stating reality. When a state sponsors militant groups to seize power by force, it sets a dangerous precedent. So if the BLA looks across the border and sees that as a model for success, how can you blame them alone? Selective outrage isn’t a good look you know.

Since we’ve come this far, let me spill some beans on the hijack rescue as well. Anyone with a fair understanding of the landscape, the modus operandi, and how military operations work globally would see that the army was likely nowhere near the BLA’s hijack hideout when they claimed they were. From what I’ve gathered, there are multiple kilometre long tunnels along the ML 3 that are difficult to access by land or air. Not criticising your army for its reporting, most armies do the same. My only gripe is that they don’t seem to have done much to negotiate and try to save the lives of their own men, whose lives are just as valuable as anyone else’s. There’s this unfortunate mentality on both sides of the border that soldiers are meant to die smh.

What is the point of continuing this exchange when you’re not refuting my points but resort to personal attacks. I never intended to write this much on the topic anyway. You have a good day.

Govt announces Rs.5.2 million, jobs to families of Jaffer Express attack victims

The government has announced compensation of Rs. 5.2 million for each family of those killed in the Jaffer Express attack, along with jobs for their children in the railway department.

Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi on Thursday accused the opposition Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Indian entities of targeting the military in the aftermath of the Jaffer Express attack while ignoring political leaders.

Addressing a press conference at the Railways Headquarters in Lahore, Abbasi alleged that PTI was receiving “millions, even billions” to advance its narrative. He announced financial compensation of Rs. 5.2 million for the families of those killed in the Quetta attack and pledged government jobs for their children.

Abbasi commended Pakistan’s armed forces for their swift rescue operation following the train attack, saying, “Commandos prevented suicide bombers from detonating inside the train.” He warned that terrorism posed a growing threat to Pakistan’s stability, with domestic facilitators aiding attacks.

He linked the attack to broader geopolitical issues, alleging that India was trying to destabilize Pakistan, particularly the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). “Pakistan, as the first nuclear-armed Islamic country, remains a thorn in the world’s eye,” he said.

Abbasi urged political opponents to set aside differences and unite for national security. “Now is the time to come together on one platform,” he said, stressing that Pakistan was facing an existential threat.

The minister also criticized misinformation campaigns on social media, calling them a form of digital terrorism. He vowed that both online and armed threats would be countered.

Addressing Pakistan Railways' challenges, Abbasi outlined plans to upgrade infrastructure, improve security at railway stations, and revive stalled projects. He admitted that railway scanners and police resources were inadequate but pledged reforms, including cargo sector upgrades.

“We want a green Pakistan with a transparent railway system,” he said. “There will be no compromises.”

Abbasi also revealed that authorities were reclaiming encroached railway lands in Karachi, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, and Sukkur, stressing that economic stability and national security were interlinked.

It’s a good gesture by the government.

All those families ruined by this violence

I think this horror shows how important good leadership is for a country. The BLA are criminals that have attacked PK but the problem is that the PK army has no capital in either Balochistan or i PK Generally because of their own criminality. At times like these countries need leadership but who do we have? SS a guy with the personality of a slug, Naqvi a guy that sees $$$ in every event and the Generals, who no one believes or trusts because they treat the PK constitution with the same contempt as the BLA.
In any civilised country, the security agencies would have heads rolling but they are too busy making porn videos, killing and kidnapping PKs and controlling judges.
We aren't too far from Balochistan declaring independence and with KP to follow, are going to be left with Punjab so that the crooked witch could rule it. Because outside this I don't see any other plan. Release IK today, hold elections and get the people's reps to rule and bring people together.

Reports coming in that Pakistan has eliminated BLA’s chief. If true, thats even more swift than what Mossad pulled off. Brilliant stuff. Rules of the game have definitely changed :)

They have killed Bashir Zeb for the nth time. They make up stories of killing him after every major attack/embarrassment .

Here is the real news for you

Abu Qital is said to be the nephew of Hafiz Saeed.

Unknown men strike again

:kp

Why do you sound so cheerful?
He's using BLA sources and then posting that as a more reliable source. This is basically equivalent to being hands in gloves with terrorists, to the extent that he can be.

Another day yet another attack in Baluchistan by BLA on pakistan security forces.

Five Frontier Corps (FC) personnel were martyred and at least 12 injured on Sunday when an explosion occurred near an FC convoy in Noshki on the national highway, officials said.

According to Noshki Station House Officer (SHO) Zafarullah Sumalani, initial investigations suggest the incident was a suicide attack.

SHO Sumalani said that evidence from the site of the attack suggested that a suicide attacker rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into the FC convoy.

The injured were being shifted to the FC Camp and Noshki Teaching Hospital, where an emergency has been imposed.

SHO Sumalani feared that the death toll and number of injured would rise since several of the injured in critical condition.

Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti condemned the attack and expressed sorrow over the loss of life.

“Those who play with the peace of Balochistan will be brought to a tragic end,” Bugti said in an official press release.

“Cowardly attacks cannot lower our morale,” he said. “There is no place for terrorists in Balochistan, peace will be established at all costs.”

CM Bugti said that all possible steps will be taken to bring the enemies of peace to justice.

“This war will continue till every last terrorist is eliminated,” the chief minister said, adding that everyone in Balochistan is indebted to those who shed their blood for this homeland.

The Balochistan government condemned the attack, spokesperson Shahid Rind said in a statement.

“Targeting innocent civilians is a brutal act,” the statement said. Rind prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured and expressed condolences to the families of the deceased.

“Enemy elements are trying to destabilise the country,” the statement said. “The people’s morale cannot be lowered through terrorism.”

“We stand with the affected families in their hour of grief,” Rind said.

Because they have supported these thugs for decades and our Establishment has been asleep. This is what happens when the Generals are not accountable to anyone. Surely the press conference from our Establishment thugs should have been in Quetta and not in Islamabad.

Pak Media hides and suppresses news

Indian Media exaggerates news

Western Media doesn’t give a fish about Pakistan’s internal issues

Where to get genuine news?

Personally speaking i just follow @Major bhai’s updates on this topic. Yes he has an issue with Bharat but his updates are most accurate.

Pointing out your lack of objectivity, and the careful construction of your posts to reflect your anti-Pakistan leanings is not a personal attack, it is merely an observation. I'm not even criticising you for it, I don't know why you are so sensitive about it. I am not here to defend this Pakistan administration, in fact I come under attack from some patriotic posters who are fully backing the armed forces.

But that doesn't mean I can't see some Indian posters using these forums to push Indian propaganda, which is more about their wishes for the break up of Pakistan than it is for any care about Balochistan.

Another day yet another attack in Balochistan .

According to latest report - A huge blast heard in Turbat city of district Kech, Balochistan .

Jaffar Express to resume operations from today: railways minister

Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi has said Jaffar Express will resume its operations from today, state-run Radio Pakistan reported on Tuesday.

Last week, Pakistan Railways (PR) suspended its entire operations from Punjab and Sindh to Balochistan and vice versa, following the terrorist attack on the Jaffar Express.

The Jaffer Express was attacked on Tuesday afternoon when Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) terrorists ambushed the Peshawar-bound train carrying 440 passengers, opening fire and taking hostages. Consequently, the security forces initiated an operation that lasted two days.

On Wednesday evening, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry confirmed that the operation had been concluded, with 33 terrorists killed. The ISPR chief also said that 26 hostages, including 18 security personnel, lost their lives but no hostages were harmed during the final rescue phase. Five more security personnel were martyred during the operation.

Speaking to reporters outside the Parliament House in Islamabad, the railways minister said that drone surveillance will be launched for train operations in Balochistan, Radio Pakistan reported.

“The service had been suspended after the railway track was damaged in a recent attack but has now been fully restored,” he added.

He further said that CCTV cameras are also being installed at railway stations and other sensitive locations across the country to improve security, according to Radio Pakistan.

Earlier on Saturday, Abbasi announced a compensation package of Rs5.2 million for the families of the victims of the Jaffar Express train attack, along with jobs for their children in his ministry.

The Federal Investigation Agency on Monday also arrested a suspect involved in an alleged “anti-state campaign” on social media over the Jaffar Express attack from Banigala on the outskirts of Islamabad and he was later produced before a judge, who sent him on a physical remand for three days.

Damn.

All the while there is a busy thread on possible breakup in south india language. The OP from that thread is conspicuously from this thread.

Hmmmm..

I thought South India had already broken away from rest of India ?... you mean there is still hope we might not break away ?????? 😱

9 pages. @rickroll you are barely around. Thought you'd have some deep insight.

Asked him how Many attacks/ Blasts happened in Balochistan and KP in last 4 days

:kp

the situation is dire in Balochistan and who knows, there is genuine risk to state security apparatus and if this prognosis holds true then there is even a higher risk of secession. There that wasn't so hard to admit valid data points was there?

Three hand grenades recovered during Jaffar Express relocation to Quetta

The bogies of the Jaffar Express, which was waylaid by the Baloch separatists in Bolan, have been transported to the provincial capital, Quetta after eight days.

Three hand grenades were recovered from the damaged coaches, which have been rendered inoperative.

According to railways officials, the bogies moved to Quetta bear bullet marks, and most of the windows are shattered. The bogies will be repaired and restored to operational condition for travel.

Railways police officials stated that three hand grenades were found in the damaged coaches of the Jaffar Express brought to Quetta, which have been neutralised. The affected bogies of Jaffar Express were relocated to Quetta from Mashkaf area of Kachi.

On March 11, the Baloch separatists attacked the Peshawar-bound Jaffar Express in Bolan, resulting in the killing of several civilians and officials. Following the attack, security forces took action, successfully rescuing the hijacked passengers. Nearly 50 militants were killed in the ensuing operation.

PR announces restoration of train operations in Balochistan

Pakistan Railways has announced the resumption of train operations in Balochistan, weeks after services were suspended following a terrorist attack on the Jaffer Express.

The decision includes the restoration of multiple train routes, with services set to resume from 27 March 2025.

According to the official schedule, Train 40-DN Jaffer Express will operate from Peshawar to Quetta starting 27 March, Train 39-UP Jaffer Express will run from Sibi to Peshawar from the same date, Train 39-UP Express from Quetta to Peshawar resumes 28 March, Train 3-UP from Karachi to Quetta will resume service on 31 March.

To accommodate Eidul Fitr travellers, a special Eid train will depart from Quetta to Peshawar on 29 March 2025, aimed at easing passenger load during the holiday period.

Pakistan Railways has advised all passengers to adhere strictly to departure times, while staff have been directed to complete all necessary preparations.

The Railway Prem Union welcomed the move, with Central President Sheikh Muhammad Anwar calling it a "positive development for passengers in Balochistan."

He praised Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi for his commitment, particularly the decision to operate Bolan Express daily, aligning with long-standing union demands.

Anwar also welcomed the announcement of additional train services from Quetta, calling it a step toward improving travel facilities and addressing regional disparities.

Speaking on security, Anwar backed the government’s decision to recruit 500 new personnel in the railway police, with 70% of posts reserved for Balochistan, describing it as a vital move for safety and infrastructure protection.

Jaffar Express resumes operation from Peshawar after 17-day gap

Jaffar Express resumed operations early on Thursday morning after a 17-day hiatus following a deadly terrorist attack near Bolan in Balochistan.

The passenger train, decorated with buntings, departed from the Peshawar Cantonment Railway Station, with federal minister Amir Muqam and railway officials seeing travellers off.

According to officials, the Jaffar Express, the only train that traverses all four provinces, will travel through Punjab and Sindh before reaching Quetta on Friday evening, completing its 34-hour journey. A total of 280 passengers have reserved seats for the journey, including 28 from Peshawar.

They said that the service was suspended after the train was targeted in a terrorist attack on March 11. Security forces launched a successful operation, eliminating all 33 attackers, but the incident claimed the lives of 26 passengers.

Mr Muqam told reporters that the resumption of the Jaffar Express after the attack in Bolan had conveyed a clear and powerful message that the entire nation, government and security forces were united for Pakistan.

He said the “nefarious designs” of terrorists would be frustrated with unity. He said no one would be allowed to attack the train again.

The minister said terrorism was a problem for the entire nation, and if there was peace, everything would work.

“Unfortunately, the priorities of a certain group are different. It is using Pakistan’s resources against Pakistan,” he said. Mr Muqam said the government policy about the repatriation of undocumented and illegal Afghans was clear, and necessary actions were being taken in line with the national policy.

He claimed that the KP government was receiving its NFC share regularly from the federal government but the situation in public sector hospitals and schools in the province was pathetic.

The minister said that KP had been denied development by the PTI during its 12-year rule, while thousands of poor and deserving people were overlooked in the Rs10 billion CM Ramazan Package.

He alleged “favouritism and likes and dislikes” in the CM Ramazan Package and insisted many deserving poor and underprivileged were denied the relief.

Mr Muqam said the relief package under the Prime Minister’s Ramazan package was distributed transparently among the poor in the country, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He said that the PTI’s politics revolved around agitation in a bid to provide relief to its detained founder Imran Khan.

The minister said the boycott of the National Security’s meeting showed the irrational approach of the PTI leadership.

He asked the PTI activists to avoid making an effort for the release of a “single person” and focus their attention on resolving people’s issues. He said the people could not be fooled through hollow slogans of bringing change in their fate unless practical, visible steps were taken for development of backward areas.

Mr Muqam said that it was the duty of the PTI provincial government to fulfil its commitment for people’s development and improvement of the condition of public sector educational institutions, healthcare centres and communication systems.

He said the PTI government should follow the Punjab government’s mega schemes for public welfare, which had led to the popularity of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz in the province.

The minister said the opposition should have run the movement not for a single individual but against terrorism. He said the government would continue to resolve the people’s problems.

He said in just one year, the government under the leadership of PM Shehbaz Sharif had made the impossible possible, with economic stability at the top.

“The recent agreement with the International Monetary Fund is also a sign of economic stability,” he said.

Earlier, Mr Muqam was briefed by the Pakistan Railways officials on security arrangements for trains.

They said all possible steps had been taken to ensure security of the Jaffar Express train.
