Pakistan batsmen resilient on rain-hit Day 4, reach 100/2 at Stumps, still trail by 210 runs

Broad and Anderson look knackered

Which means Woakes and Archer will go through us

This could work to our advantage. The reason england did well on day 2 was that our bowlers were knackered and just waiting for them to declare.

With the heat also and the amount they bowled yesterday I’m hoping we can take advantage of their fatigue.

My observations regarding Abid Ali is that he will fail mostly in SENA conditions. He has done well in flat tracks against weak opposition and he will continue to do so. But I would want to see him how he plays in flat tracks against good bowling attacks.

I just read this on cricinfo some dude apparently said all Pakistani fans want Anderson to get to 600 asap. What rubbish, his 600 can wait till the next series smh.

Masood needs to find a way out of Anderson’s pocket. Hopefully he gets settled quick because he’s a different player once he has settled and once the bowl is older too.

It’s not as much about intent as it is a mental thing with Shan against Anderson. He’s in two minds and doubting himself while facing Anderson.

That's true but i think they've also been instructed to play with a bit more intent judging from their body language and couple of shots they both have played so far

^ Do the four sticker not work anymore or is it just because I’m on my phone I can’t see it?

These pomies are so cry baby, start crying about changing ball even after 20 odd runs partnership, bhai Pak batsman b khelnay aaey achar bechnay nai,

i am very confused...the ball has hardly moved maybe slightly and both these batters are fishing miles away from their body any explanation...

Eight overs in and England already complaining about the ball. These guys are the definition of KARENS in cricket lool

Start whining right away

Wao sunshine don't know it's good or bad for the draw prospects, anyhow we can't win the match so might as well battle it on the field, will serve them well in future in similar scenario, plus they need to earn the draw and shut haters like Mamoom with bat, and prove when conditions are not so helpful Poms bowling is also nothing too extraordinary.

Ollie Pope update:

Ollie Pope has a sore left shoulder and there are no plans for him to return in the immediate future. He will be reviewed at lunch.

Assistant coach Paul Collingwood is in whites and can run drinks on alongside sub fielders Jack Leach and Mark Wood. James Bracey has replaced Pope on the field.

I actually want to see Anderson hit 200 Tests. Imagine Anderson a fast bowler breaking Tendulkar’s record of 200 Tests.

Is abid Ali playing club cricket or international

Chasing wide deliveries

Masood showing a lot of character and intelligence with the way he keeps missing the ball.

QalandarFan there is more chance of hell freezing then Anderson playing 200 test, at max 180, that's also a big stretch.

abid ali is making my blood boil the hack....he is throwing the bat at everything you are trying to save a match here then he will apologize to the nation afterwards...

Someone that might make runs on the flat tracks of Pak.

But with his technique, will always struggle away

That last ball from woakes was a peach, just see off first 20 somehow and things will get way way easier.

Need to see off the first 20 overs and then go in ODI mode.

Babar needs to replicate his ODI form here.

And yet more drops. England must be the worst catching side in the world.

Oh, Colly is coming on! He’ll sort out this shambles.

It baffles me that people are actually crying about run rate here. Mamoon really was right that most Pakistanis have no understanding of the game

Mueez bro You have got the stuff from Rizwan, which got you so high that you expecting ODI mode from this lot, chill bro. Even a draw would be nothing short of a miracle.

:))

True. Think I might be a bit too optimistic.

However I think Pakistan have come out with a plan today. Let’s see what happens!

So one person whined about the run rate, the only comment on it all day, and your response is that Pakistanis don't understand cricket.

You can’t just go into ODI mode on a day 4 Test Match Pitch. We need to worry about not losing this test match first. If we go into ODI mode we’ll be all done before tea.

Bat out today, and see how things look tommorow. Drawing a test match after conceding 600 runs and not even bowling the opposition out is nothing to be ashamed of.

Cry more kid.

Rate is less than 3 compared to englands overall 3.74.

Our bowling was utter garbage too. But I think that takes too much mental strength for you to work out. Someone whose crying about run rate in the first 12 overs of an innings. When the run rate is actually decent

Why does Pakistan love a slower than average run rate in all forms of the game.

Difference in class.
Pakistan still old school. Crawley came out and play shots and put Pakistan on the back foot. Weve got people who can’t even bat out sessions let alone make runs

Pak batters in general play a lot slower than most other teams.

However, England bowling attack is light years ahead of Pak average line up

Agreed. If they played with more confidence at least we would have semi decent scores when the collapse begins 😂

Yep. I hope Pakistan plays accordingly. Just want the boys to put up a fight...

Great start by PAK openers, need to go to lunch zero down.

Well Stokes flying out to NZ was a “curse in disguise” for Pakistan.

Crawley batted us out of the series.

1st innings: PAK 32/4 from 14 overs

2nd innings: PAK 34/0 from 14 overs

England 1st innings run rate was 3.74.

Ever read a scorecard?

P. S. Lmao

It’s called sarcasm ever heard of it?

Let me quote you for your understanding -

“ Why does Pakistan love a slower than average run rate in all forms of the game.”

“ Rate is less than 3 compared to englands overall 3.74.”

You mentioned that Pakistan has a slower run rate on average comapred to other teams in all forms. Than when questioned as to how a run rate of 3 is slower than most on average in Test Cricket, you go on to mention the run rate of one of England’s best batting performances in years and our worst bowling performance in a long time. Do you not see the contradiction here? You talk about “on average” then go on to mention a single rate.

Hence, my sarcastic post which you clearly didn’t understand was to point out that England does not average 3.74 runs per over in test cricket that’s all they averaged in one of their best batting performances in a while. Even then our run rate is not that far behind and you are talking about how we’re batting so slow “on average” compared to other teams.

Oh and btw you usually add a post script to add extra information at the end of a paragraph/letter or whatever not to write a reaction. Lmao

Here is a silent clap for you...

Pakistani batsmen look as vulnerable as ever. The reason they haven't been dismissed yet is because England has not been very disciplined today with the ball. To be honest the ball really hasn't been doing that much this morning.

Our bowling tbh really let us down this time in the series.

We should’ve gotten them all out in the first Test when we had England 117-5...

Same happened in this match too.

Things would have looked a lot different with Amir.

Umpires even kept Pakistan out yesterday when it was quite dark and even England knew that.

Same has happened today where in the last 15 mins or so it has got a fair bit darker yet they kept playing until now.

I agree. Shame the management didn’t ask him to play this series when he was around the team. Well you can’t expect much from Misbah, can you :))?

Or people could acknowledge and accept that he has retired from Test cricket. Why is that such a difficult concept for some people to understand?

I bet England are ruing they didn’t declare at 500, there cockiness got the better of them

I wish he was just offered to play as specalist in SENA for Test’s. In test’s he can’t bend his back in the UAE heat anymore that’s why he retired from Tests to imo. If it was just SENA he would have carried on imo. The 5 year gap really hurt him he would have been up there as a top 3 bowler for us had he played through. He was a Wasim Akram type talent, not even Shaheen is as talented as him. Dude was bowling 145+ and swinging it troubling Watson in his peak and Ponting. On top of the once in a lifetime talent and potential he had he had ice in his veins he showed how clutch he was in that World T20 at just 16/17. To think what could have been really saddens me.

Disagree. As far as they are concerned they have 1 and a half days left to bowl pakistan out.

Also, for England it was more important to secure the draw first by batting for as long as they did as this ensure the series victory.
