What's new

Pakistan bowled out for 239 at Stumps on Day 3 thanks to fightback by Faheem (91) and Rizwan (71)

Aussies and kiwis or the ICC should really stop inviting PAK for test series.

Embarrassing every time

Men v boys

What were fans really expecting before this series.

Arguably one of the worst pak teams in the last 20 years

Day and night difference between the bowling

NZ seamers have swung it more than our guys did. Day and night difference between our change bowlers too - they can bring on Jamieson and Wagner while we're stuck with Faheem and Naseem.

i refuse to watch such pathetic display. Therefore im watching Rahane bat. Great batting frok a proper dedicated batsman for his team, under so much pressure after the 1st test debacle

Rizwan the hero is here, just block and block, don't give them anymore chances!

So much for blocking.
What does Younis Khan keeps on writing. Is he gonna catch Harris on dinner table with pen in his hand

At this pace Pak will have to play around 90 overs to get anywhere close to 100.

Looks like the countless threads Junaids wrote about these geriatrics being vindicated.

we saw what youngsta beauties are capable of in T20s. Agree different format but in test they would fair even worse. They all suck collectively irrespective of age or anything.

Misbah doesn't care, he's only after the hefty pay cheques.

Can someone please tell me how to quote things from the Day 2 thread? Lol, posted something like:

“PAK will be c. 50-4, you heard it here first”. Don’t remember exactly but great time to post that lol....

Saud Shakeel, Usman Salahudin etc actually have decent amount of FC experience now to transition into test team atleast over non performers.

This should be Azhar Ali's last series. I would rather a younger player try and fail. Azhar's reflexes are gone. Spend a season or two in QeA and guide the younger players on how to carry yourself professionally, as he has been an exemplary player on and off the field. No controversies. Then retire and go into commentary.

Its not really about that, it's about building a team and phasing in the right players at the right time and booting out the expired players.

Misbah is a shameless character. I once met Waqar a few years ago in a charity dinner, after chatting to him for a while, he told me that Misbah has the best cricketing brain in pakistan. I wish to meet Waqar again to ask him if he still stands by the point he made

Congrats boys! Breaking records tonight :salute

Then agree, yup its always better to lose with youngster, atleast there is chance they might improve unlike these dianosours. But can't see it happening under this rigid regime, maybe one or two undeserving youngsters to get thrown under bus and for being made scapegoat maybe given chance.

There's a difference between hunkering down and retreating into a shell. What Pakistan needed to do was hunker down, meaning that we needed to assess the conditions and bowlers and then apply ourselves. We did the opposite, we allowed ourselves to get set but never applied ourselves, and that's the cause of our downfall.

This team has potential but shows no performances. There was no need for Shan to nick that one down the leg side. Abid Ali got bowled due to a technical fault and possibly a mental block. Azhar got out to a jaffa, though if he drove at it, he would have been safe. Haris got out pathetically, and hence we will be bundled out at like 200 max.

Now it's up to Mohammad Wasim. What does he see in this team?

I dont have issue with being 5 down, its about a non existent intent. Even Eng lost a test in Nz by innings but, there should be some intent to give yourself any chance.

Can't believe they decided to drop Asad but keep Azhar. Both of them should have gone, but if they wanted to keep one, Asad should've been the one to stay.

As if waqar himself is any better. But when u can get big paycheck for doing nothing then why bother. I don't blame them, blame those who hire these genius.

Only Fawad and Rizwan looked capable of scoring runs, but we will be lucky to score 150 with Faheem to come next. His bowling was useless for Pakistan, Shan, Haris, Fawad could have chipped in, even Azhar Ali. Additional batsman would have been useful.

Pakistan have only one way to succeed at test level, and it's to dominate at home. With SA and NZ coming, we need to dominate at home so that our players can improve in friendlier conditions. Naseem needs to be dropped. We need better batsmen. We need a better opener. Overall, this team is like 2/10, too weak in the necessary areas.

I don't even care if either of these get out. I'm enjoying their positivity. This is the mentality needed.

Looks like the countless threads Junaids wrote about these geriatrics being vindicated.

Was he ever wrong? The only real thing I disagree with him about is dropping someone the second they turn a certain age.

Otherwise declining performances, low fitness (which are correlated to but not necessarily caused by age) are all reasons to drop a player. After Haris Sohail’s performances over the last year, why exactly is he in the team?

Fawad, okay sure he’s relatively fit and yet to really get a consistent run. Azhar, sure he has a match saving century just recently despite middling performances and low fitness.

Haris is the first person on my chopping block.

Wow, this is just horrible. I just can't understand how this miserable so called team management and the players dont have to justify themselves. We have been sliding down since 2010, with things getting even worse. I can't accept this anymore.

Er Rahane goes into his shell many times as well..

Pakistan don't have the batsmen to play like this in these conditions.

Always was going to backfire.

For South Africa Home Series I would Replace Abid with Imran Butt, Azhar for Abdullah Shafique, Haris for Saud Shakeel and I will persist with Shan Masood for now but he hasn’t done anything since the one century against England so I may give Imam his spot soon.

This is embarrassing, this has Misbah written all over it. It's unfortunate that Pakistan cricket is being tamed so badly that we fight for moral victories rather than actual victories. We are zoning into the minnow mentality and with Misbah being around I'm afraid this might creep into the likes of youngsters as well such as Haider and Naseem. If our youngsters at this stage of their career accept this monnow mentality of Misbah then we have another decade of embarrassment heading up for us.

My thoughts exactly, our management's incompetence prevails yet again where we go in with a batsman short against a world class bowling lineup. Our tailenders can't bat at all, and hence, we have lost due to poor selections and pathetic batting.

The only way to improve as a team is to make sure that there are no mistakes on the selections, because frankly, that's a major problem.
