What's new

Pakistan bowled out for 273 in the first innings on Day 3 as England opt to enforce follow-on

Came in pakpassion to check how many Asad Shafiq threads have opened up and all I see is Fawad Alam one’s.

As a rule, even Pakistan is doing poorly, I hide. Happens with age.

Your this post itself is a denial - you didn’t learn anything yet or are not ready to learn & accept.

No, the real difference between the two sides is what I wrote in the series prediction thread - England is far superior in batting, bowling, fielding & captaincy ... and they are playing at home. All-round capacity has just added brutality in their dominance- it was never a fair contest and remember- this is England without probably the best cricketer in world right now.

What Hasan said fits his mouth, because he is one who always try to normalise the hypers, tries to bring a sanity in the fantasy - not you. If you really think that what Hasan said is the fact then try to follow him - next time which ever “fan” tries to troll PAK cricket with “over enthusiasm of tal*nt”, reticule him, not saying harshly, but logically. You’ll earn my respect for sure.

To be honest bro it's mostly when it's WCs that our fans start hyping our team. Like last year fans were predicting we would get to the final or semis.

Dom Bess is only a reserve spin bowler at Somerset because Jack Leach is obviously a better bowler.

But Bess plays ahead of Leach for England, because Ed Smith understands that a spinner is only rarely a frontline bowler in these conditions, and mainly plays as a batsman.

Compare how Yasir is used in 2020 (and 2016) with how Shadab was used in 2018.

Yes, only Yasir can come on after 10 overs like here and bowl 39-3-173-2 at an economy of 4.44.

But I don’t want my spinner on in England after 10 overs on Day 1.

I want my third and fourth quick to come on then. My spinner is just there to bat and field in the first 3 innings and to bowl a few overs for variety.

Yasir Shah bowled 3 maidens in 39 overs. Outside Asia that’s what he does - he releases the pressure and is overbowled.

Threatening how come...he hasnt beat the bat once...his pace is well up no doubt but he is bowling to pak batters who are useless one needs to remember that

Fawad Alam is the Fetty Wap of the cricket world. Unorthodox style but he gets results.

he has beaten the bat many times including many drs appeals

Or are you talking about Naseem?

Don't know where all this Fawad hate is coming from. He really isn't looking that bad, showing some guts and concentration vs Archer. He's pulling 93mph bouncers, and he's looking very comfortable vs Bess. Doing better than any of our other batsmen in this innings.

Exactly my feelings. If it's only becoz his style isnt conventional then they dont know much about batting

At least he's fighting which is more than can be said of Golden Boy Asad Shafiq with his oh-so-wonderful technique.

Hope he scores a fifty to shove his 11 years of mistreatment down the throats of Misbah and Waqar.

how is fawad useless? This is his first match in 11 years and he is fighting it out
Correct.
Many posters are harsh on Fawad.
He playing after 11 years, he lost his valuable career because of board politics.

I am impressed, he is batting well. At least showing some gritty.

Fawad keep it up brother. Please make a 50 at least and grind it out as much as you can. I hope he makes the most of this and it would be amazing to see a 100. Azhar needs to stay there all day.

Oh god, Wasim and his "there are no alternatives" argument about Azhar's captaincy.

I bet PCB will trot out the same statement after this tour.

Wasim Akram reprimanded by the PCB for being critical allegedly and today’s he’s defending Azhar and Misbah!

Wasim Akram: "Misbah is Chief Selector. He's not a magician and needs time to settle in his new role"

Your words of wisdom are much appreciated

Fawad deserved better. He’s also one of the nicest players to play for Pakistan

Yeah I read about that. Apparently Wasim Akram’s comments onn Azhar Ali were deemed unacceptable to Pakistan Team Management.

Misbah and co are such snowflakes.

Aah wow, where was this published? Oh Lord.

I couldn't agree more.

I have always maintained that Pakistan's test cricket would have been in a better place if Misbah was axed after an embarrassing showing against Zimbabwe (in 2013). This was the time to replace him with Fawad in that middle order.

It will be interesting to see which spinners England play when they tour India and Sri Lanka.

:))

As soon as we start praising our player he gets out or gets smacked.

Bess finally did something good. Atrocious cricketer and much inferior to Moeen Ali.

Don’t know what to say man. Isn’t he on the cricket committee? Think he’ll hold it in on air (although I don’t think he should if he does not agree with PCT). But when the report is due at the end of the series, I feel Akram should be more forthcoming. Would be a bit unlike him to not be as scathing.

If Akram speaks his mind, Misbah will have him fired. This is the problem we have with someone holding so much power with the most powerful connections in Pakistan.

The sad part is that Fawad is playing catch up in a career which is practically done. The sadder part is that despite assurances of being a part of the set up he is fighting it out and showing AA and AS how to at least fight it out. AS specially does not know how to play an ugly innings.

Saddest though is how we know he could have been a part of the set up all those years ago yet was not included. All we really ask for is grit, application and to not take a slot in the XI for granted. Personally, I could not care less about Haris Sohail’s talent given he remains hell bent on not making anything of it. Fawad on the other hand... anyway, too late sadly.

fawad showed similar technique to what sami aslam had vs lyon. Result is same end up reaching for a ball that he could have manage on backfoot.

5/6 years ago Fawad would have been brilliant on UAE wickets.

He could have been great for us. We play like 70% of our test matches in Asia. Who cares whether he'd fail in the few tests we play abroad, just like the rest probably will too. We played guys like Asad who couldn't even pile on the runs in Asia, but looked good at the crease.

After 2010, it was 6 years before we played in England again. And yet people are obsessing on whether he'd do well in England or not to whether we should have selected him. It was also 6 years between Australia tours which we get whitewashed every test series regardless.

It's probably too late now. Trying to blood in a cricketer at 34 is tough. Maybe if he was already experienced and it was just a revival. Misbah is a unique case but even he got quite a few chances before his successful comeback.

I had a feeling as Fawad's hands were going towards the ball and away from the body on few other deliveries as well.

As I said previously, I think he could have been much more fruitful investment than Asad Shafiq almost a decade ago but, unfortunately Pak cant afford to develop him for test level at this age. He might still be able to score runs if given oppurtunities but he doesnt have much time left in him so I would like a younger player like Saud or some other to come into team.
