Pakistan bring win-less run to an end with 48-run demolition of NZ in 2nd T20I to set up decider

Batting showed up and we won, what a concept! Our bowling attack will win us majority of the matches in LOIs if our batting can be competent more often. Intent goes a long way and this should be the approach in every match we play regardless if we win or lose. Enough of the phattu mentality !!!

And hopefully curtains for Azhar, Hafeez and Malik from ODIs and T20s! Youth is the way forward.

Well worth the wait lmao. Beautiful performance from start to finish.

Good win.
Much needed boost for the team morale.
Hopefully we turn up for the series decider.
Gotta win the series and finish the tour on a high note.

Players like Sarfraz and Babar proved their critics wrong and showed us glimpses of how we can bat like there is no tomorrow when we are pushed against the walls. Thoroughly deserved although i hope that it came earlier in the tour. Specially happy for sarfraz considering all the hate he got.

Today's match also shows that we are not that far off from being able to compete with the big dogs in ODIs. Just a few personnel changes and we'll be in the mix.

Hopefully the whitewash in ODIs proves to be a stepping stone for coming together of an exciting LOI team full of budding youngsters with plenty of flair and skill!

He batted at 4 and look at the result.

Welcome return to form for Sarfraz and Babar.

Much needed for Sarfraz especially after his poor form over the last few months. Hopefully we win the T20 series and take a step in the right direction towards the 2019 WC. There's a solid core of players in our limited overs teams but the selections needs to be ruthless over the coming months to turn this young side into a consistent, World Cup contender.

Its as simple as getting a decent start for Pakistan with the bat .
They will inevitabily win when that happens.

As I had said we need some luck and one batsman to fire, and when Fakhar Zaman fires he bulldozes the oppositions confidence. Not happy with the return of Shehzad but a win is a win is a win. It was an extremely needed for Sarfaraz and the team. Sarfaraz came up the order and the way he played Harris and Amin were'nt even required. Sarfaraz is not a superb hitter [although he hit pretty well today] but best part of his game is their are'nt much dot balls, he makes every ball count. Thankfuly he managed to get push Pakistanpast 200 par score with a slow player like Azam. Bowling was better today, but fielding was EXTRAORDINARY. Minus Rumman Raees dropping Bruce off Faheem, Harris won the match for Pakistan by his fielding. Nawaz is amazing but his incredible save of 5 runs [leaping to get a hand to bowl going for six on long on] and half-chance lifted the team.

PAkistan won due to Fakhar Zaman, Sarfaraz, and Harris Sohail fielding today.

Hasan again looked cold and is developing some attitude issues, bowled half volleys which prompted the captain to give him his piece of mind.
Hasan did'nt behave well at that time the way he ignored. He bowled a wrong full length bowl again which luckily the batsman miss due to bit of pace, Sarfaraz was not happy and brought in the huddle.

Hasan became the no.1 ranked bowler when Sarfaraz became captain of the team. The team he plays for has many options from U19 to a franchisee talent hunt.
No bowler is permanent or indispensable in this team they should get the message. Amir after 6 matches finally bowled full but still did'nt swing that much. Faheem, Yamin have done more swing than our top 2, Hasan and Amir. This is a huge worry. PAkistan still feels a bowler short.
Hope Sarfaraz wins the series and takes over some part of selection or just resign if PCB continues to give authority to Inzamam to play his favorites and automatic selections.

Great win! Woke up and checked the score couldn't believe my eyes! Can't wait to watch the highlights later.

shocking!

they won and posted 200+
i did expect them to win one game but still think nz win 2-1

this is why sarfraz should bat at 4 . if we have malik or hafeez in team . that means sarfraz goes down to 6
so we have to chose what to do with hafeez and malik
either sacrifice sarfarz and let him bat at 6 or get rid of hafeez and malik

I told you... Its just a matter of one Fakhar innings and we will destroy these Kiwis. Throughout this series we have made them look better than they really are.

The memo should be loud and clear: kick out the useless seniors and keep backing the youngsters no matter what.

Give the youngsters a fair chance. They fail, you back them. If after a while they still fail to impress tell them where they need to work on and that If they work on their shortcomings they will be selected again and bring a new emerging player to replace him. It's simple, keep the flow of new players in the team open.

Aman garbage performance from team NZ... I hope the fans get a refund.

Finally a win under our belt. However I'm not getting carried away with the batting or claim we've turned a corner.

Its one thing to score 200 at Eden Park where the straight boundary is very small, and the square boundaries aren't very big either.

Nevertheless, credit to the boys for keeping the series alive. It would be fantastic to win the T20 series after the ODI drubbing so we don't return home empty handed. The match also made it abundantly clear to team management that Sarfraz MUST bat in the top five. I hope his days of batting at 6 or 7 is over.

"The bouys plays well"...
However, amin should be replaced by aamir yamin at no 6.
Not really sure about haris at 5..
(Not ideal 3 - 6 for T20 line up, im afraid)
Rest is fine.

Good win.

One thing: If he's held to low standards and worshipped for the occasional, luck assisted 50, Fakhar will be the next 'senior.'

Please remind us which senior has a match winning century in a world tournament? 2 fifties in the four matches of an ODI series (one of them unbeaten) when everybody else looked like a tailender and a fifty to kick start a T20 series that was also going down like the ODI series.

If any other senior had this much output, we won't be complaining.

I didn't get to see the innings did fakhar have a lot of luck? Edges missing stumps catches dropped or fall safe?

You're not wrong, but I think you're missing my point. All I was saying was that Fakhar has to be held to higher standards than 'seniors.'

Considering Fakhar's game is high risk, and he relies a lot on luck, standards are important. High risk batting rarely leads to consistency, a concern which Fakhar might swat away this year.

He's doing well, and I hope he ends up being our David Warner in all formats.

But my comment really was about low standards, pooja, mureed mentality that's fairly common in desis, which 'seniors' enjoy.

Fakhar is a high risk batsmen, and that is why he is playing these high risk innings. You need one or two of these in LOI cricket. If all batsmen have to be proper, low risk tuk tuk types then we can drop Fakhar and bring in Asad Shafiq and Shan Masood. Have tuk tuks from 1-7.... atleast we will play low risk cricket.

Good win from the boys. Batting finally performed! Fakhar gave us a good start than Babar and Sarfraz finished the innings nicely.

Faheem bowled well but I haven't seen anyone give credit to Shadab for getting the key wicket of Guptill. Amir also bowled a good line and length today. Furthermore some of our fielding today was amazing! Really happy with the win. Hope it restores some confidence into the boys and we go onto win the series. Than after this series we can ditch the dead wood and move on with some talanted young players for the 2019 WC.

Good win.
Unfortunately couldn't watch it.
Really hope to see a FZ century and Pakistan getting the trophy Sunday.

Watched some parts of the Pak innings. Momentum was maintained throughout the 20 overs. Great team performance.

Finally an interesting series decider! And all Sarfraz haters saying he won't make runs no matter where he bats will finally be silenced.

Congrats to Pakistan, we were comprehensively beaten in all facets.

Pakistan's bowlers were excellent, the batsmen clicked and put on a good score for the bowlers and the fielding was world class outside the dropped catch.

Lmao how was it luck assisted?

He batted really well and set a great platform for Pakistan.

I don't think he offered any chances and batted really well. Most of the shots were good too.

How do you know Hasan is developing attitude issues? Have you met him recently or are you basing this off your television?

I think the whole nation saw it, everybody is commenting he should'nt have behaved this way with the captain in national tv. Hasan's glare at Sarfaraz after he bowled NZ batsman out was unacceptable. The way he ignored the captain and walked away was also rude. This incident is pretty huge due to our seniority culture. This sets a precedent that others also will follow and misbehave with the captain. All former cricketers have condemned it and some called for Hasan to be dropped.

If Imran Khan was captain, Hasan Ali would never have played for Pakistan again and this is the right way to treat some people.
For one spat with Azhar Mahmood, team management throw out Sohail Khan and continue to ignore him.

There is definitely some backing for Hasan Ali to do this or else I don't think he would've done it on the field.
Hasan Ali is not indispensable, and he definitely should be dropped if he misbehaves again.

We don't need another Umar Akmal that we reward to keep in the side for them to poison dressing room and disrespect the the seniors.

Hassan Ali did the right thing. It was inevitable the way Sarfaraz was behaving. You are becoming defensive and are biased when it comes to sarfaraz.
I like Sarfaraz as captain. He is passionate, thinks about the game and pushes his team to limits but he should not be selective in his shouting as he never shouts on his seniors and backs Nawaz a bit too much.
He should also be carefull while dealing with fast bowlers as they can easily lose their temper.
If I am batting and my opposing captain is constantly shouting and taunting his bowler, that will only give me confidence.

Finally, it didn't rain!

Slap on the face for critics who alleged Bobby can't score quick runs.

Proud of Pakistan for delivering a performance worthy of a true world champion side.

Well done.
