We have every commentator/expert telling us that Naseem Shah has issues with action etc

Yasir Shah has shown no improvements and continues to be cannon fodder?

But in every presser, we are told by Pak team management that these bowlers have no technical issues and in fact, they are the best thing we have.

What gives?

Maybe they can't do anything. There are problems that only players can fix. It's the poor selections that worry me more

Some problems are so ingrained in the muscle memory that any attempts will be futile and counterproductive. It doesn't mean you shouldnt try. As I said my son had exactly the same problem and when he tried to fix it he just didn't feel right. I would go as far as to say that it cost him an opportunity to be in contention for FC cricket

It is and it will lead to injuries. Only Naseem can sort it but as I said it's part of his muscle memory and he has probably bowled like that from the age of 6 or 7.

Because none of them are skilled and professional coach. Just because they were good players that doesn't mean they can be good coaches. What skill does Saqlain, Tait and Yousuf has? No fielding coach in the team. Also half of them is filled with garbage and expired players.

The evidence seems topoint to you being correct. We've had plenty of young potential come through in the past 5 years and only Shaheen has broken through. That is starting to feel like an anomaly when you look at what else is around him.

At least one of Musa, Hasnain, Naseem etc. should have become an established international by now.

Pakistan lost several years to the coaching black hole that is Waqar Younis but reverting to the likes of Tate and Saqlain aren't going to be much different.

Technical bowling coaches need to be brought in, and most probably from Western countries as the game has moved on way past the gully now.

Injuries are part of a fast bowlers life. A tear away fast bowler is more effective if he operates with a bowling action, run up in which he is most threatening ie bowling at an avg of 142-148 km/hr but with an injury prone action vs bowling with an action, run up which will result in them bowling at 128-135 km/hr, reduced effectiveness, reduced risk of injuries.

How much technical bio mechanic coaching did Wasim, Waqar allow to dictate their bowling action, styles during their professional careers?

The kid was bowling 148k on his test debut. There must be something he was doing right with his action.

Personally, even if a fast bowler is not technically 100%, if you can get 5 years of devastation out of him, you’ve done well.

What do we actually want - a fast bowler with a 5 year stellar career or a trundler with a 15 year career - most of which will probably be played outside international cricket because he won’t be good enough to get in the team after a few years.

I agree on all counts. Steven Finn was a very promising and genuinely fast bowler once upon a time who could hit 96MPH, then he got overcoached into oblivion and never played for England again.

The player will want a 15-year career to maximize his earnings. The 5-year career is great but it will lead to life-long pain and less money in the bank.
