What's new

Pakistan defeat New Zealand by 4 wickets to win the 3rd T20I; NZ win series 2-1

Where are the Iftikhar haters now! Been saying it for a long time, this guy’s the only number 5/6 in the country.

I wanted a whitewash, so our management gets the heat but, oh well a win is a win.

Well done to Pak for winning this game. Wouldn't have done it under pressure for sure, but did the job today. That's our level unfortunately. Let's move on to the test series.

Good win but did you just see that shot by Chacha why on earth would he come after khushdil Faheem shadab lmfaoooo just Pakistani things

Remember that ODI series where Rizwan scored 2 hundreds and we lost both those games. Well this is what's going to happen again.

What a great prediction.

You definitely have in depth knowledge of the game.

How is this guy not playing and Khushdil played all three games? Nice inning Rizwan

Fair play Pakistan won, but why on earth were Faheem and Shadab sent ahead of two batsman?

We really need consistency and should win matches with more authority. My heart was in my mouth till the last winning shot 🥺

After the way we bowled we should be thankful we ended up winning.

Pathetic Rizwan.

He will never change, as he doesn't have the ability nor talent.

Unbelievable comment. The guy is one of the few shining lights of the Pakistan team. Played very well in England and a brilliant knock today. Unreal statement.

Nice English even if isn’t correct.. it is enough to make other understand

You can never force Iftikhar out of the play. Time and time again he is the guy that secured the win for Pakistan with his finishing

It took us time to wake up and correct our mistakes. Tough matches are good if you end up winning. They put you in the right mindset. Test series would be no walk in the park.

This match shows our potential. We werr without our best bat and still win one game against full strength nz side. Just need to keep this momentum going.

Pak should be happy with this series. They fought back really well in the 1st t20 and won the last vs the full strength nz side

We were doing ok in the second match TL wahab Riaz Bowles that over. Things could have been different of wahab wasn't playing in this series.

The issue was always with the execution. Bowlers were being predictable and batsmen jittery. You needed some calm heads who could play regular cricket shots. Many players here tried to psl type cricket and when it didn't pay off they panicked. Experienced players like Hafeez were able to switch from psl mode.

Thats why if we had the experience of Babar, I reckon we would have won this series.

gotta feel for sarfraz. got so fit, gave up the nihari, and now has no place in the team.

Good win although some odd decisions, Faheem and Shadab before actual batsmen in Iftikhar and Talat?!
Also a lot of PPers with egg on their faces after Rizwan showed just how good he can be. Need more players like him, up for the battle.

I cannot take his shouting from behind the stumps. His emotional reactions to the happenings on the ground and yelling on players every few mins. To top it off he has been a pretty ordinary player for a good few years.

This is simply not enough. He did put the team under pressure in the first 2 matches with early exits. He can continue to be in the team on the basis of this performance and if this is a start of something great for Rizwan I am all for it.

And rizwan in this match who didn’t play in the psl :)

Shadab Khan | Winning skipper: We won the powerplay here and that's why we won the game. We wern't winning it in the earlier games. The way Hafeez and Rizwan played shows the character we need in our team. It was a good learning for me, we have a young team and I have learnt a lot. We made a lot of mistakes on the field and that is where we need to improve upon. The victory would boost our Test team as well. Most of our fast bowlers will take it into the Tests as well.

And then we had a certain kiwis poster tell us that a full strength NZ is a mighty team . Yeah sure...

Well done Pakistan.

Would have been a win-less tour had they lost today too.

Great knock by Rizwan. Safe to say, Sarfraz's int'l career is done and dusted now. :sarf2

Its almost impossible to defend a score ln these tiny kiwi grounds.
Absolutely no reason to bat first.

Coincidentally, we saw our openers play some normal shots and rotate strike well. Not everything is about pumping the muscle, T20 is more than just mindless slogging.

Good win for Pakistan, but two major points to talk about:

Bowling and Lower-Order Batting:

At one stage, we should have wrapped New Zealand up for 150, but our bowlers gave away pathetic runs and also a lot of misfields allowed in-form batsmen to get back on strike to punish us. Shadab has focused so much on his batting that his bowling is lacklustered now, he's not consistent enough to operate as our sole spinner. He bowled two excellent overs and two horrible overs, and we don't need that from our frontline spinner. On the topic of Shaheen, he looks a bit tired from what I can see, so he should be rested well before the test series. His workload management needs to be looked at, should not have played the Zimbabwe series in my opinion. Haris Rauf is confusing me, he bowls well and then suddenly bowls filth. He needs to work on his consistency, because too often he bowls in the slot or on the pads, and allows himself to be sent out of the park. Hasnain did well considering that these are new conditions for him, and he should be given a run. Faheem Ashraf performed excellently and has really put up a statement. His economy rate was outstanding in this series, and he picked up crucial wickets. He deserves a spot on the team for his bowling and occasional explosive batting.

Though Rizwan played a blinder of a knock today, he needs to be more consistent in white-ball cricket. When Babar is back, he will assume the opener role and Haider will be pushed down at 3. I'd give Rizwan a run as an opener with Babar, but I fear that both don't really accelerate all too well in the powerplay. In the past, we paired Babar with Fakhar because Fakhar could hit the ball out nicely, but I don't think Rizwan is that type of player. Secondly, I'd like to see Hussain Talat be given a run at 5, he's a much more complete batsman than Shadab in my opinion. Coming to Shadab's batting, he isn't what most people think he is. He's not a genuine batsman, he looks very uncomfortable when facing fast bowling, and his technique is a bit confusing as well. He's good against spin, but has yet to impress me against fast bowling.

We got the result having dropped one of our relu kattas imad today. Top order batsmen do not play with freedom when they know incapable bats like imad shadab faheem are to follow. Today we banked on our batting resources.
Any team can afford at most 1or 2 relu kattas

It could be argued that his partners in the first two games throwing their wickets away added more pressure on the whole team but then you would need to criticize the complete lack of performance by Abdullah Shafique and that's not allowed because he's young and got "talent"!

Iftikhar and Rizwan. Two guys I don't really like in t20is did extremely well today.
Looks as if Iftikhar has been working a lot on his batting since being benched.
