So removing a hand full of "potentially good" players is all it takes to make the A team into a D team.

There is no denying that this is by no means Sri Lanka's strongest or first choice team. However, there is also no point denying that Sri Lanka is no longer the team it was in the 90's with an abundance of household names.

Apart from Malinga, Mathews and Perera, Sri Lanka could have sent any other 12 players and it would appear like their so-called D team.

Essentially the difference between their A team and their so-called D team is 3 key players.

Sure if Sri Lanka had decided not to send Jayasuria, Murali, Vaas, Ranatunga, Atapattu, Aravinda de Silva, Chandana & Malinga and instead had sent the current lot then you could argue that their is a big enough contingency of front line players missing to deem the games irrelevant.

However, with only 2 or possibly 3 key players missing, calling this team their D team is a long way from the truth.

As per PP standards when Warner and Smith were out it was Australia C team which India beat. Surely you can consider this as Sri Lanka D team as per the standards set on PP.

This one is not in his hand - why has done everything, literally everything that I dream in an ideal case. Even, as I noticed initial QeA schedule was Thursday-Sunday, so that people are encouraged to come to stadium in business end of the game on week-ends, this was one century long tradition in UK.

But, Sarfraz is a political call - against all odds, PTI won few seats in Karachi proper - IK won’t risk irritating Karachiites by sacking (not dropping - then he’ll come back in few months time) their poster boy. Won’t be surprised if Sarfraz leads at Gabba & Adelaide as well.

Do not think so imran thiks like that.Otherwise he would have taken someone from kpk.But yes he is political appointment otherwise should have been playing fc.

My post match analysis:


Babar Azam: Let's start with Babar Azam, once again he was great and proved himself that he is a backbone of our batting strength. He actually improved alot. not only he was consistent in rotating the strike but also his hitting ability has been enhanced.

Usman Khan Shinwari: Our legend fast bowler Wasim Akram mentioned during the commentary that those 4 wickets are equal to 6 wickets on this type of batting paradise and he should be the man of the match, after some minutes he took another wicket and claim his another 5er. So there is no doubt that he has been tremendous with the white ball. So the question is, can we try him on test matches as well?

Iftikhar Ahmed: not sure why people are hating him. Cricket is not about the look. He has played brilliantly in domestic and now he deserves to get a chance in international matches. Also I do believe that he would be an ideal choice to replace Shoaib Malik in the future. He can be a handy off-spinner as well. Probably better than Bilal Asif.

Muhammad Amir: Bowled economically but I hate to say that he is having some trouble with his fitness, from 140s to 130s. Now he was bowling at <130 with short run up. Not sure what's wrong with him. PCB really needs to think about him. If he is injured or having some issues, please don't take a risk by playing with him in these matches. He is our main strike bowler.

Shadab Khan: I was not impressed with him. Considering the fact that Sri lankan bowlers bowled better than him. We seriously need to find a good full time spinner. Shadab/Imad/Nawaz are all rounders. We must try Zafar Gohar.

No its a Srilankan B team and same as what Australia put out for India but you could also argue Srilanka dont have the equivalent of Smith and warner anyway.

Hasnain and Abid Ali should be given a chance in the next match.Drop Shadab.Imad is a bits and pieces player.Zafar Gohar should have been selected.We lack a fast bowling all rounder.Faheem and Yameen are not good enough for international matches.We need to find someone as good as Abdul Razzaq.

Just how pleasing to the eye is Babar Azam´s stroke-play?! That last six that he hit was an awesome shot. Never expected him to play a shot like that. Also, good to see him bat at such a healthy strike-rate.

The two lower-order Sri Lankan batsmen fought really well but it was never going to be enough after the early collapse.
