That epic phainta from Hussey will always haunt Pakistanis

Painful loss. Our batting was starting to click as the business end of the tournament and our bowling was excellent barring the last 2-3 overs - we would probably have destroyed England in the final but such is the nature of T20 cricket that we went from winning the match to losing the match in 2-3 overs thanks to a Hussey massacre.

Brilliant record BTW and also needs to be updated now.

Damn they mentioned that today, Dean Jones even hated bringing it up...but yeah definitely THE MOST painful loss over the last 5-6 years.

So it's Tanvir. The guy bowled really well, full credit to him. However, I really don't under why our MOT players says that:

"I think I proved my selection right."

HOw the hell on earth just playing one game you can say it?

To me, it reveals their mindset, that if they've performed in a game, then they get license to play in all the remaining games and gets a free ride.

That one loss matters more than those 23 wins..

I don't even remember the wins, but the Hussey phainta is etched in the memory..

In anything, the pain stands out more than the joy.

But that one loss overweighs the 24 wins (just an emotional perspective)

Well done pakistan BTW.

^yes that was painful but you guys remember it well because it was very seldom Pakistan lost due to the bowling.

Overall a very fine record and it feels ekstra good when you win with a less potent bowling attack than earlier years. Well done boys, let us win the next one as well in sha Allah.

Sometimes we need to give credit to the opposition. Hussey was in some superman mode that day, may have well surprised himself after such knock.

Its more to do with our inability to score 150+. We have defended well but we have scored 150 only 26 times. Pre 2015 from 2010 onwards we didnt score 150 its generally around the 130 to 140 mark. It would be better to compare with other teams in last 2 or 3 years.

Doesn't matter, as 26 matches are a decent sample size and to be successful 24 times in those matches in defending the total indicates the skill and quality of our bowling over the years.

It didn't help that we as a nation and team had accepted that we had already won when we got them 6 or 7 down with a mountain to climb.

That one defeat is more painful and dissapointing than any other match I have seen including the Mohali semi final, batting collapses in the SAF and Australia series and even the 1999 WC final and the 96 QF...

Can someone provide our overall record chasing 150+ scores in t20's.

I don't think it is great and the only matches I can recall when we have chased over 150 are:

- vs Australia in the 2007 WT20
- vs India in the 2012 WT20 warm up game
- vs Bangladesh in the 2012 WT20
- vs Zimbabwe in the 1st t20 in the 2015 series
- vs Zimbabwe in the 2nd t20 in the 2015 series

Are their any others?

All 5 times a Sialkoti has won Pakistan the game.

Malik, Malik, Nazir, Mukhtar & Mukhtar

Says something!

In response to your last question, yes. The India one wasn't an official T20I so it doesn't count, though.

Also, which is the tied game in our record?

Was it the T20 game against australia when Umer Akmal won us the super over?

Yes, one of our two tied games... the other one being the 07 WC tie to India... with the bowl out.

I wonder what record is now? Anyone know?

191 was a big score , Lowest point of Ajmal career .

From a big stage performance stand point, yes absolutely - Pakistan haven't sniffed a chance at a WT20 since 2012, so atm it is a lingering memory. However, given the strength of the T20I team currently, I hope they can right this wrong in 2 year's time.

Hate to bump this but once upon a time - we were guaranteed to win (barring Hussey) if we posted 150+ in T20’s batting first..

Now it seems like nothing is safe with our incompetent bowling and savior Misbah / Waqar at the helm :(

Bowling is not an issue. Dry results are natural for any fast bowling attack, but poor fielding is inexcusable. Our bowlers would have had so many more wickets had our dumb fielders caught the ball when it was required. Our sloppiness in the field doesn't stop there, we make so many misfields and have no game awareness nor the energy to stop singles.

We lose because of our fielding and batting. Our bowling, except Wahab Riaz, is the best we can have at this stage, and we should improve every other department which is lacking before worrying about our bowlers.

It's mainly the picthes and fast paced T20 Cricket. This is not 2010-15 anymore things have changed a lot for the last few years

I honestly feel Pakistan would have been able to defend the 160 scores vs NZ if Hasan Ali was playing instead of Wahab and Sarfraz was the captain.
