Pakistan finish Day 3 on 137/8 against England, lead by 244 runs

And people here are crying needlessly over umpiring in this Test match. The umpires haven't done anything outrageously wrong to warrant criticism. There have been no howlers, just routine umpiring mistakes that happen literally every game.

Check Big 3 stats outside their dens and you'll understand. Although I doubt it with your mentality.

Almost happened when zulqarnain got out but was saved by the drs and scored that infamous 88.
 
Pakistani domestic coaches do not encourage their bowlers to even learn how to bat. And the bowlers themselves don't believe their job is to bat - even when there's situations when you need them to hang around.

That's why we always have at least three No. 11s in a Test side.

This. Ditto. The start we got was a dream start. Hard to replicate most days. And while NS got 1 wicket, he looked threatening sometimes but not so other times.

Stumps, England very much back in the game. But they have to play out of their skins to win this. If they do, fair play to them.

What miracles did we perform at home between mid 90’s and 2009?

When you are poor, you are poor. We don’t have the right mentality and batting approach to do consistently well even while playing at home. The UAE era actually saved us because of the slow nature of pitches. On flat Pakistani wickets, the likes of Australia and England would be more competitive than they are in the UAE.
 
The game is pretty even, England have Stokes and Root and we have a spinning pitch. I would take this lead on such a surface.

15 runs in a low scoring match when the batting has collapsed and you're setting up a tricky chase that could decide the whole match?

The runs are crucial yes, nothing to do with the batsman.

Even if we win this match this batting performance can not be excuses

Has eroded all the good work from the bowling attack in the first innings and match is back in the balance.
 
England are going to have to mount the second highest successful run chase ever in 134 years of Test matches at Old Trafford!

People used to white ball cricket think that 245 is a small target. It’s not - it’s a really tricky target.

A pair in cricket refers to when a batsman is dismissed for a duck (without scoring) in both innings. It is called a 'king pair' if the batsman gets out for a golden duck [getting out on the first ball he faced] in both innings.
 
And England bat very deep.

We can win this but it is not fair to expect the bowlers to bowl England out cheaply one more time
 
1st Innings 326, 2nd Innings 219, 3rd Innings 137/8, descending scores. If England chases 250+, we can just say well played Eng.

Match is still in the balance. If azhar can’t score this entire series then he needs to see the shiny part of the boot. Azhar needs stripping of his captaincy.

What do you expect with the geriatric Azhar and Shafiq and Abid as 3 of the 5 specialist batsmen?
 
Eng should have gotten pak all out by the end of today. They also gave pak 30-40 runs too many courtesy of Dom bess's pies and root not bowling woakes after he got 2 wickets
 
Bumble also questioning why Archer isn't able to come and bowl against the tailenders - instead a half fit Stokes has to do the job.

Let's see. I think England will be able to chase anything up to 270. They have plenty of time and plenty of batsmen and tailenders who can bat.

What the UAE era did was make us a team full of batsmen with techniques that work ONLY on low and slow pitches and glorify Misbah as the 2nd coming of Imran Khan. There's a big reason why we are missing a full generation of express pacers AND quality batsmen which is down to lack of cricket at home. Our pacers under Misbah era were absolute nobodies, the likes of Talha, Rahat, Ehsan, Anwar, Bhatti, Sohail etc.

I'm not sure which team was performing miracles at Home apart from maybe SA and AUS.
That's just the usual rant on your part.

Ahh you are an attention seeker....took me a while to understand that. My bad!!! I genuinely find you very annoying and trust me it takes a lot for me to get annoyed. I am all about patience and respecting everyones view as those are just basic rights but you are just on another level. You should just be ignored by everyone. Stop posting for the sake of it. The key thing, along with the spinning track, is that England were getting reverse swing. That could be crucial for Naseem in particular.

This pitch is spitting like a cobra for spinners. Plus we have a very good bowling attack.

When teams lose chasing 200+ in 4th innings its rarely anything to do with time. Its the deterioration of the wicket which brings in uneven bounce and spin which makes it difficult to survive irrespective of how you are intending to play.

Hope so, but I just feel they will play Abbas differently. Anyway, we’ll have to see. I think Pakistan will be down mentally - simply because they will be rueing the “what ifs”.

Simply put, if Pakistan approach this clinically they should be fine. If they panic of their own accord i.e. what they could have achieved and go searching for wickets to repeat the 12-3 stuff, they will be shooting themselves in the feet.

I'm not really impressed with the approach of babar asam here. Not expecting him to be a Superman but at least he shouldn't get out playing nonsensical shorts. He lacked intend in this innings and didn't have a clear game plan. He needs to be bit more proactive.

Shan, abid, babar, shafiq... All were soft Dismissals.

My prediction.. If we get 15 more and stokes gets out cheaply... We win it. Inshallah..

Whether Pakistan still has a shot at winning this match is irrelevant to the fact that its been a shameful show again by the batting lineup.. Infact its been shameful both innings if u consider that half of the runs in the 1st innings were scored by one individual only.
How many teams will get a lead of 100plus in the first innings and then get bowled out for less than 150?
