ECP notifies victories of Sharif family, other party members

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday issued victory notifications of a dozen members of the National Assembly including Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) supreme leader Nawaz Sharif and three other members of his family.

As per the ECP’s notification the former prime minister has been declared a returned candidate from NA-130 (Lahore), his younger brother Shehbaz Sharif from NA-123 (Lahore), daughter Maryam Nawaz from NA-119 (Lahore) and nephew Hamza Shehbaz Sharif from NA-118 (Lahore).

The piecemeal issuance of notifications for publication in the official gazette in deviation of the tradition made many to wonder if those declared successful have submitted details of the election expenses with the Commission.

Similarly, PML-N’s Attaullah Tarar was declared successful from NA-127, Lahore.

Under Section 98 of the Elections Act, 2017, after receiving final result from the returning officer, the commission, within 14 days from the polling day, shall publish the name of the winning candidate in the official gazette.

The law, however, says “every returned candidate shall, within ten days from the poll of an election, submit a return of election expenses under section 134 and the Commission shall not notify in the official Gazette the result of a returned candidate who fails to submit his return of election expenses”.

The commission has also declared PML-N leader Attaullah Tarar a winner from NA-127 (Lahore) and Muhammad Awn Chaudhry of IPP from NA-128 (Lahore).

Others whose victory notifications as members of the National Assembly have been issued include Nasir Iqbal Bosal from NA-69 (Mandi Bahauddin), Chaudhry Armaghan Subhani from NA-70 (Sialkot), Khawaja Asif from NA-71 (Sialkot), Ali Zahid from NA-72 (Sialkot) and Nousheen Iftikhar from NA-73 (Lahore). All five belong to PML-N.

ECP has also notified the victory of PML-N provincial president from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Ameer Muqam, from NA-11 (Shangla).

The commission has also issued notifications of some winners of provincial assembly seats from KP and Balochistan. ECP has also issued a notification for polling at six polling stations of NA-43, Tank-cum-D.I. Khan on February 17.

The commission said that polling at these stations could not be held on February 8, owing to bad law and order situation.

In this connection, necessary instructions have been issued to the chief secretary and KP IGP and the law-enforcement agencies, it said.

IK mission accomplished he got his swag back , all other stakeholders humbled and pantsed, the national rose to the call of their leader. Coming in power is already not suitable for PTI at this stage let these PDMs tarnish their image more brutally ,

This is exactly what's wrong with Pakistani politics and the average pakistani's ethics. "Imran has not learned politics. He is doing another own goal" Why? Because he refuses to join hands with the corrupt power hungry thieves? A lot of PTI's votes grew from the dislike of the opposing parties and not out of support for Imran, he'd be stabbing his voter base in the back by holding hands with criminals. Don't impose your meek morality on someone else. It's extremely commendable how forming a coalition with PPP is a free get out of jail card for Imran and he's still NOT budging on his morals. A true leader who we, as a weak society with no morals should aim to emulate.
The corrupt and power hungry thieves are the reason why Imran is in politics in the first place.

I don’t need to educate that Imran has been sponsored and funded by crooks and money launderers since 1992 because they say him as an investment.

He has been a freeloader who has been living on other people’s money for the last 30 years. Known frauds like JKT have been sponsoring his election campaign in exchange for the Punjab CM seat.

PTI Supporters are the last group of supporters that should talk about morality because lot don’t know the first thing about morality. The entire foundations of party were laid on black money.

Furthermore, everyone knows the reality of the SKMH hospital. How low can a person go beyond using a hospital for politics. He cheated and broke the trust of the donors by using SKMH donations to fund PTI.

I will never donate a penny to SKMH again because there are plenty of hospitals and charity organizations that are genuine and don’t misuse donations for politics.

Let me tell you from the Establishment's pov; that they would sincerely love for you and your supporters to try and repeat the 9th May terrorist activities once again. It will give them the greatest of pleasure to absolutely ERASE Pakistan Tehrike Insaaf once and for all. By all mean, step forward and dig your own grave.

Oh will be observing

But I really want to observe what happens if a terrorist attack on Pakistan’s sovereignty takes place from within once again, or ten times again as Marwat sab is threatening to do. I am pretty sure that this is the mistake the Establishment of Pakistan is itching for PTI to make.

Believe that!

According to Form 45 the entire PDM will be kicked out from the assembly but the question is that who will ensure justice when the judiciary is already involved in high levels of corruption?

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has managed to attain a simple majority in the Punjab Assembly as it independently amassed the requisite numbers for government formation.

Following the inclusion of independent candidates, the tally of PML-N in the provincial assembly has surged to 151. When factoring in the allocation of 33 seats for women and 4 for minority communities, the total swells to 188. With government formation requiring the support of 186 members, the PML-N has comfortably surpassed the threshold.

The influx of numerous independent members into the PML-N ranks has effectively paved the way for government formation in Punjab, solidifying the party's position.

So how do you explain IND candidates winning seats on recounts if these numbers (which have enabled PMLN to form a fair government) are all rigged?

You’ve got form 45s?

Good. Keep them. Roll them side of ways. Give them a little shine by laminating them. Once laminated, frame them. Once framed, stick them somewhere…
Yes and so did the Nooras and everyone else. Why haven't they published. Are you waiting for Munir to change them. 🤣🤣🤣

Molana has played a 360 master card here by choosing not to join the coalition of PML N and PPP. He knows that that people will be cursing this govt as soon as the govt is formed because Pakistan's economic situation is not good for any govt to come and put it back on track.

You need to have a brain before you can engage it...

I think a line needs to be drawn. Between those who support the peoples vote and those that are corrupt and will twist and turn to suit their own vicious agenda.

Remember those vile statements in 2018, IK was selected, the selected PM.
Well had those elections been fair he would have had an overwhelming majority.

Then these same numpties would say a corrupt leader is better then an incompetent leader...
Now its the uneducated should not be allowed to vote.

I think the best thing would be to avoid debating with them. You simply can't change them. Its ingrained into them.

This person is the grandson of the one who was the cause of East Pakistan separating from us, and PTI wants to make him the prime minister, ridiculous.
PTI will soon work towards KPK partition with Pakistan too.

Again Uturn by IK, he has asked US that they should have more weight on their narrative of rigging in elections 2024

That's because they claim they are the arbiters of democracy. Biden is in trouble and the PTI should use Trump to attack the Junta. No apologies needed from IK. If the shameless can steal elections in broad daylight, why shouldn't IK use every forum.

PTI founder Imran Khan has assigned former NA speaker Asad Qaiser the task of approaching other political parties protesting against election rigging.

Speaking to the media after meeting the party founder in Adiala jail, he said the party has completed its consultations and Imran will "shortly" announce a date for countrywide protests against "election rigging".

“I have been assigned with the task of holding discussion with all political parties on this matter,” said Qasier, adding “I will talk to Maulana Fazlur Rehman, ANP, and other parties.”

“The matter of election rigging is not being taken seriously on the international level, and will we hold nationwide protests against poll fraud.”

Qaiser stressed respecting the Constitution and said the chief justice must take notice of this issue. “Our leader is Imran Khan, what he decides is accepted,” he added.

PTI counsel Barrister Saif said Imran has nominated Qaiser's brother for speaker Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Assembly.

"America should take a tougher stance over these elections, when PTI was cornered in the elections, America should have raised its voice," said Saif quoting the party founder.

The development comes after the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) gave a thumbs down to cooperation with the PTI on a provincial level a day earlier.

Despite ongoing discussions, the negotiations between PTI and JI reached a deadlock, leaving the formation of the government hanging in suspense.

The JI asserted that the matter was not merely about winning or losing; rather it was about the sacredness of the vote.

JI spokesperson Qaiser Sharif claimed that the PTI had "changed its stance" on cooperation in the upcoming government, stating that both parties had initially agreed to “cooperate at the national level in the national interest.”

The party in its statement clarified that the PTI informed them of its desire to form a government only in K-P at the last stage of the inter-party discussions, after which the JI sought time for consulting its own leadership.

Meanwhile, following the JI's rejection of a coalition with PTI in K-P, the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Sherani group extended its hand in support of PTI.

Voting concluded at several polling stations in Punjab’s Khushab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Kohat and Sindh’s Ghotki, as scheduled by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for Thursday.

In a statement on Feb 10, the ECP had said that elections would be reconducted in 26 polling stations of NA-88 (Khushab-II) as the “polling material had been burned by a crowd in the returning officer’s room”.

It had further said that polls would be held again in two polling stations of the provincial constituency PS-18 (Ghotki-I) as “unknown men had snatched polling material” allocated for those stations.

Further, repolling was ordered in 25 polling stations of PK-90 (Kohat-I) because the “polling material for 15 polling stations was damaged by terrorists”.

Polling began in the three constituencies at 8am today and concluded at 5pm. The ECP spokesperson confirmed in a post on X at 9:30am that polling peacefully was under way in 53 polling stations in the three constituencies.

Another successful PTI-backed independent joins PPP

Ameer Muhammad Khan won the general elections from Bhakkar's PP-89 constituency.

Pakistan Muslim League (N) spokesperson Maryam Aurangzeb, while reacting to the announcement of protest by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has said that she sees PTI's protest as in 2014.

Speaking in today's news program "Robro," Maryam Aurangzeb said that on May 9, the country was also surrounded by fire, PTI only specializes in protests.

She said that if they succeeded in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Election Commission is fine, but where they lost, the Election Commission is not fine.

Maryam Aurangzeb said that sometimes they say they won 180 seats, sometimes they say they won 150 seats, PTI people have conspiratorial intelligence, they don't want stability in the country.

She said that those who raised the slogan of the state of Madinah sold the watch, those who asked for an account from others could not give their account.

Maryam Aurangzeb had said that if she had won all the seats, the election would have been transparent.

She said that if there are reservations about the elections, there is a legal forum.

She further said that the founder of PTI had talked about breaking up the country, he used to say that we will make Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Dhaka, they only want riots and anarchy.

In response to a question, Maryam Aurangzeb said that Maulana Fazlur Rehman is a respectable and old friend of Nawaz Sharif, she also respects what he has said, Maulana Sahib did not talk about arson.

She said that it is Maulana Sahib's right to meet political parties, Maulana Sahib loves the country, I don't see unity between JUI and PTI.

Fazal ur rehman has just confessed that the establishment was behind the vote of no confidence against PTI. govt. Talking to the Samaa News at the momnet
off course that everyone knows. Who brought IK? establishment, who kick him out establishment.
Do you think political parties wanted to kick IK out? No they did not want to kick him out but establishment put the pressure on those parties to get together. Establishment told them if they do not bring vote of confidence then IK would serve pakistan for 10 years and Faiz hamed would be COAS. Establishment used ik just like other parties then kick him out just like other parties.

In my opinion, Maryam Aurangzeb raises a pertinent point about PTI's approach, emphasizing protests and inconsistent statements. It does make one question the party's commitment to ensuring stability in the country.

General elections 2024: Two independents, IPP candidate win as re-poll ends in PS-18, PK-90, NA-88 constituencies

Aerial firing by unidentified armed individuals outside two polling stations in Ghotki's PS-18 constituency halted the re-polling process there. The incident prompted the intervention of law enforcement agencies, including the arrival of the district returning officer along with police forces.

As tension escalated, it was decided to suspend the re-polling process at both affected polling stations, 161 and 162 -- Chakar Khan Kolachi and Ali Murad Kalhoro. The situation prompted the deployment of Rangers and Pakistan Army troops to surround the polling stations, enhancing security measures in the area.

After the vote count at two polling stations was completed, as per the unofficial results of all 188 polling stations of the constituency, independent candidate Jam Mehtab Dahar emerged victorious by grabbing 57,878 votes, followed by PPP candidate Sardar Shehryar who got 55,678 votes.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Kohat district, polling was held in 25 polling stations of the PK-90 constituency. After the vote count, as per unofficial result of all 169 polling stations, PTI-backed independent candidate Aftab Alam was announced winner with 45,970 votes and PPP's Amjad Afridi the runner-up with 34,364 votes.

Meanwhile, in Khushab's NA-88, the counting of votes ended at the 26 polling stations where a repoll was held. As per complete unofficial results from all the polling stations of the constituency, Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party candidate Gul Asghar won by obtaining 87,805 votes, while independent candidate Moazzam Sher second the second spot with 70,186 votes.

This development comes after the Election Commission ordered re-polling at 26 out of 331 polling stations due to discrepancies in the electoral process and disruptions during the recent general elections.

The repolling process commenced on Thursday at 8am in NA-88 Khushab, where voters from 26 polling stations are being given the opportunity to cast their ballots until 5pm. The decision to conduct repolling was made after an unfortunate incident on February 8, where a ballot box and other records were maliciously set on fire by some miscreants in the RO office, prompting the election commission to take swift action.

ECP notifies victory of Sadiq Sanjrani from PB-32

The Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) candidate, Sadiq Sanjrani, obtained 19,748 votes and won from the PB-32 constituency in the general election 2024, ARY News reported.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) issued the notification, announcing the victory of the BAP candidate from the PB-32 constituency.

ECP snubs Nawaz’s plea against NA-15 results

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday dismissed PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif’s application for stopping the notification of the results of NA-15 Mansehra – a constituency where he lost to PTI-backed independent candidate Shahzada Gustasap Khan.

A two-member bench, headed by Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja, was hearing the complaints of candidates who had challenged the election results.

Nawaz’s lawyer did not appear before the bench and the NA-15 Mansehra returning officer (RO) while submitting his report to the commission said the constituency’s result had been compiled as per Form 45.

The ECP bench rejected the PML-N supremo’s application to stop the notification of the successful candidate, directing his lawyer to file it again.

As the ROs submitted their reports on the NA-56 and NA-57, the bench declared the applications of independent candidates Shehryar Riaz and Samaya Tahir admissible. In NA-56 Rawalpindi-V and NA-57 Rawalpindi-IV, PML-N’s Hanif Abbasi and Danyal Chaudhry had defeated Riaz and Tahir, respectively.

The ECP bench summoned the successful candidates in the two National Assembly constituencies and their ROs in person for the next hearing.

The ECP informed the IHC that it had withdrawn the notification regarding the victory of Aun Chaudhry from NA-128 (Lahore) in the general elections.

The bench also reserved its decision on the applications filed by PTI-backed independent candidate Basharat Raja for NA-55 Rawalpindi-IV and party president Chaudhry Pervez Elahi for PP-32 Gujrat-VI. Basharat and Elahi were defeated by PML-N’s Ibrar Ahmed and PML-Q’s Chaudhry Salik Hussain, respectively.

The CEC said the ECP did not make decisions on the basis of media reports and those implicating allegations of rigging or tampering of results must also present evidence.

The bench, while issuing a notice to NA-234 Karachi RO, adjourned the hearing of the matter till February 21.

On the request of Qaisra Elahi, the wife of the PTI president, the hearing for NA-64 Gujrat-III was adjourned till Friday (today).

The hearing on the applications related to Lahore constituencies NA-126 and NA-127 was adjourned till next week.

Yeah because ECP has better plans for PMLN to accommodate. Now after rejecting their plea they want to show that they are neutral. :ROFLMAO:

I don't support Imran Khan because I don't like his policies.I have cast my vote for the PML-N candidate because I liked his policies. It is my constitutional right. It doesn't mean I'm a fan of Nawaz Sharif or Maryam Nawaz.

Does not expect any virtue from Qazi-led SC.

SC hears plea seeking Feb 8 elections to be declared void

The Supreme Court has begun hearing a private petition seeking the February 8 general elections to be declared null and void due to alleged violations of democratic norms and electoral integrity.

Filed by an individual named Ali Khan, the petition urged the court to order new elections within 30 days to be held under the direct supervision and oversight of the judiciary “to ensure fairness, transparency and accountability”.

A three-member bench — led by Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa and also including Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Justice Musarrat Hilali — is presiding over the hearing.

As the petitioner did not appear before the court today, the CJP asked where he was. At this, Justice Mazhar noted that Ali had requested on February 13 to withdraw his plea.

CJP Isa then ordered that the petitioner be presented before the court and instructed the relevant police station’s station house officer to ensure that Ali appeared before the court.

“Such a prank cannot be played on the Supreme Court. Bring the petitioner from wherever and present him before the court,” Justice Isa remarked, adding that the bench would hear the petition.
