Pakistan government allowing foreign dignitaries to hunt rare birds in the country

In order for brains to improve or be creative you need challenges and genuine problems in life. Even in the US capitalism challenged people to discover and invent. Saudi are so used to plenty that they have no intellectual challenges to address so they are declining

In that case India should be developing rapidly, because indians have so many genuine problems in life.

Everything is on sale in Pakistan for Arabs and Americans.

Hopefully the Indian economy will continue to skyrocket and soon they will be able to buy out Pakistan wholesale and boot the Arabs and Americans out. Maybe even send them to the moon on a rocket.

This culture of hunting and consuming rare exotic birds is not limited to Saudi Sheikhs. In his book "Medium Raw" Chef and TV travel show personality Anthony Bourdain describes in great detail how he got invited to a secret dining experience reserved for the extremely privileged, to eat Ortalon Bunting. Its hunting is banned in France yet around 50,000 Ortalons are killed each year.

The consumption of Ortalon is also the stuff of legends. French diners eat Ortalons by covering their heads and face with a large napkin and swallowing the whole burning hot bird in order to absorb the maximum odour with the flavor.

Apparently, it was late French PM Francois Mitterand's last meal.

Saw this in an episode of Hannibal Lol.

There is no value of wildlife in Pakistan. Look at Markhor, at the brink of extinction and most of the conservation programs that I come across in newspapers from time to time are basically toast.

Not to forget the leopards in the Galiat are hardly prospering.

In that case India should be developing rapidly, because indians have so many genuine problems in life.

They have had problems, but they never got the support or infrastructure or freedom to invent as the west. But as that is changing slowly, you will see more ideas coming to fruition instead of being wasted

BHC bans houbara bustard hunting in Balochistan

QUETTA: The Balochistan High Court (BHC) on Friday ordered cancellation of areas alloted to Arabs and other foreigners hunting for the rare houbara bustard and other birds in the province.

It is illegal for Arab royal family members and other foreigners to hunt for the houbara bustard and other wild birds, said a divisional bench of the BHC in its order.

Justice Jamal Mandokhail and Justice Ejaz Swati issued the order over petitions filed by two citizens Muhammad Aslam Bhootani and Muhammad Saleem who had challenged houbara hunting carried out by Arab royals in Balochistan.

In 2012, the federal government had issued 29 special permits to the royal family and Arab high officials for hunting the internationally protected bird species houbara bustard.

More on this: 29 permits issued to Gulf states royal families for houbara bustard hunting

"The hunting is illegal and violates the International Wild Life Conservation Convention," Justice Jamal Mandokhail remarked while hearing two separate petitions which challenged the hunting in Balochistan.

Balochistan showing the rest of the country how it should be done. :14:

no surprises that the federal government issued the permits. i wonder what the quid pro quo was?

Apparently all this mayhem is done because the birds are seen as an aphrodisiac, have these cretins never heard of Viagra?

Good job by KPK govt for denying these arab sheikhs the permission to hunt protected birds Pakistan is no their aba ji ki jaageer. When will shareefs learn to say NO to their arab aaqaas

Nawaz Sharif would let Saudi abuse him and castrate him later. Birds are nothing.

N-League needs to grow a spine and stop acting like Pakistan is some arab takfiri theocracy, where indigenous beings have no value.

BTW Imran Khan just went to UAE for attracting investors. I wonder if that will force him to make some arrangements and give permission to these Arab princes to do their thing in his province. I hope he doesn't back down.

I think the seminar was in Dubai involving businessman from different countries not only Arab and Dubai was used as venue because of current security situation so i dont think any foreign businessman would live to travel to Peshawar now

PTI government allowing illegal birds trade

KARACHI: The federal government has issued a special permit to Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashed Al Maktoum, Vice President of the United Arab Emirates and ruler of Dubai, to “export” 150 falcons of rare species from Pakistan to the UAE, sources told Dawn on Monday.

According to the sources, the permission was issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and delivered to the UAE’s embassy in the federal capital.

The rare species — peregrine and Saker — are used by Arab hunters to trap houbara bustards. As hunters need to replace aging falcons with younger ones, the demand for these birds almost always remains stable.

Falcons are protected under international nature conservation treaties — including the Switzerland-based Conven*tion on International Trade in Endangered Species of Flora and Fauna (CITES) — and their trans-boundary travel is restricted. Pakistan is a signatory to the treaty.

Trapping and trade in falcons are banned under the wildlife protection laws of the country. There are no formal shops and markets anywhere for lawful sale and purchase of falcons.

The sources said that in the face of a ban on trapping and trade of falcons legally, a “falcon exporter” has to purchase illegally trapped falcons from illegal wildlife traders.

The federal government and the “exporter” will be guilty of patronising this illegal wildlife trafficking.

Besides violating various local wildlife protection laws as well as international nature conservation treaties, the government is putting at risk the Generalised System of Preferences (GSP) Plus status given to it by the European Union (EU), the sources explained. The status facilitates the easy access of Pakistani exports to the highly lucrative market of the European Union.

A country having the GSP Plus status has to observe international nature conservation treaties and if it violates these agreements, the EU has the powers to strip the state concerned off its GSP Plus status. This would restrict easy access of Pakistani exports to EU markets, badly affecting foreign exchange earnings of a foreign currency-starved country.

The permit issued in favour of the UAE vice president on Sept 15 this year reads: “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan presents its compliments to the Embassy of UAE in Islamabad and with reference to its … regarding export of falcons has the honour to inform that the esteemed embassy may export one hundred and fifty (150) falcons from Pakistan to the United Arab Emirate (UAE) for personal use of His Highness Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashed Al Maktoum, vice president of UAE and ruler of Dubai, from Karachi/Bahawalpur/Rahim Yar Khan/Islamabad/Quetta.

“In this regard, the concerned authorities have been requested to accord facilitation for the export of one hundred and fifty (150) falcons from Pakistan to UAE.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan avails itself of this opportunity to renew to the esteemed mission of the assurances of its highest consideration.”

The permit was issued under the signature of the foreign ministry’s deputy chief of protocol.

Another u-turn of Imran Khan. Shame on him. To be honest I am not surprised anymore with this latest u-turn.

I was about to post this. IK has lost all credibility. He is the undisputed champion of hypocrisy. I remember he used to lash PML-N for allowing Arab royals to hunt endangered birds.

If PML-N weren't such a dopey lot, they would be lashing PTI for this now.
