What's new

Pakistan have BOSSED this ODI series against South Africa

definitely not bossed it at all. They may not even win the series. Some people are creating lots of stupid threads on PP recently.

I agree with the opening poster..

This series should end 4-1..

If people (one in particular) can make an argument about fluking the CT17 and fluking other victories then the same argument can be used the other way.

South Africa fluked it in the third odi when rain intervened and made it difficult for our spinners to grip a wet ball.

So there. South Africa have fluked it to 2-2..

There is a considerable difference between an okayish South Africa and England. Yes we saw this team "punching above its weight" in New Zealand 12 months ago and in the Asia Cup.

This South African side has no chance of beating India or England in a series. They would probably get thumped in New Zealand as well. On the other hand, only India is capable of beating England in ODIs at the moment, and vice versa.

A 4-1 thrashing in England would actually be an achievement for Pakistan. A 3-2 loss would be a miracle, and let's not even talk about the possibility of winning that series.
Nice work on changing the narrative completely. Your posts before this series predict Pakistan getting smashed 5-0.

I myself did too, but the performance has been a pleasant surprise. Won't make you a smaller man to admit that Pakistan is one of the favourites to make the semi-finals.

I hope we arent favorites.

Whenever we have that tag, the boys "crumble".

Possibly true but a lot of times, when Pak are labeled as favourites, it is a bit premature. They were labeled favourites in 1999 and they got to the final, which was probably one of the best Pak sides of all time. Apart from that, the favourites tag has been on teams that have not deserved.

This has to be one of a kind bossing where you can't even win the series.

266/2 was the lowest score in full 50 overs with only 2 wicket down in a long time.

The creator of this thread should be banned from creating another post for 2 months. This post is simply embarrassing.

This thread has backfired massively. Was a great chance to win an ODI series in SA. 2nd ODI we had a great chance to win getting SA to 80-5 whereas 3rd ODI who knows what would have happened if it wasn't for the rain. Oh well. Maybe next time. :(

Well, the creator of this post has really embarrassed themselves.
They should just come out and say that they were trolling us, maybe they'll get some respect back from the PPers.

There's a song that comes to mind, it was part of a movie called Delhi Belly.

I think it was Bhaag Bhaag BOSS.... something like that.:sarf2

Don't you just love it when pakistan loses the match and then indian fans come out to add salt to the wound

We are not all like that.

Let me say Pakistan should claim moral victory for keeping Faf’s strike rate at below 70! See?

Only Pakistan can boss the opposition in a series which they eventually lost. :faf

Pakistan played well, with a bit more luck and mental toughness they should have won this series. If it were a tennis GS match the scoreline would read 7-5, 5-7, 6-7, 6-0, 2-6. Nothing much to choose, SA edged the key moments and stepped up big time in the decider.

Imagine India played like this, now think what would be your statement.

Yeah, just finished watching the ODI and how well we BOSSED the Proteas. The SA player's are so distressed that they are traveling back to their homes individually, in disguise.

After all who would guarantee their safety after the hammering that they got from our team

When you factor in the 8 drops of SA vs 2 drops of Pakistan in this series, scoreline could have been different. Pakistan has a lot of red flags at this point. They are dangerous when their bowling clicks. Can beat anyone. Rightnow this is a non-threatening attack.

Come on fitcricfan bhai. It's just friendly banter. You can give it back when we lose. :D

This is bossing in disguise..... like blessing in disguise.

What is there to think?

I don't take results of bilateral ODI/T20 contests very seriously. Our ODI series loss in Eng or wins in NZ/Aus/SA didn't affect me one bit. I am more interested in what we learnt from those encounters, whether our youngsters gained experience, whether deadweights were exposed and suitable action taken, whether our tactics/strategy ran into a wall, those kind of thoughts. Ultimately the big tournaments like WC, Champs Trophy, Asia Cup etc matter and the countries should build their teams around these big events, peak at the right time. Similar to other sports like hockey, football, tennis and I can back up with examples.

Now we lost the SA series in 2011 just 2 months before a home WC, we saw how it turned out. Before 2003 WC we were smashed in NZ, we did great after that. Before 2007 WC we were on a rampage, smashing teams like Sri Lanka, England, Pakistan, West Indies and setting a world record in consecutive successful run chase, what happened after that?

Always knew this garbage thread will come back to hurt us that is why I didn't contribute to it till now, ab bhuktoo.

Which is true all I'm saying is will your statements be similar? Also don't think this is a 2007 team reason being everyone is happy with their batting positions and we have same set playing at those positions and bowling as well.

Not winning the WC though

Since we played Aus and NZ, I can answer regarding that. No, I am not completely happy even though we won both the series, Shami and Jadhav are the only positives. Our main flaws remain, and I think it is too late in the day to rectify them. Doesn't matter if we win the NZ series 5-0 and the Aus series (home) 5-0, we have put ourselves in a very difficult spot as far as WC knock out matches are concerned. No team in history has won a WC with such a pathetic middle order.

I agree we are not winning it with that middle order

One team bossed the series and other team won the series.

Both teams should be happy with this outcome.

If you got hurt by this loss (overall it should have been a satisfying series) then you shouldn't watch cricket in future, coz we are going to loose big matches in near future.

You gotta be kidding me! Lol CT17 just a post other day on it!

That should have been the case as just before the final there were so many posts by indians that were so very infuriating, even Harbhajan was seen mocking Pak team just before the final in a video.

True.

I guess you are too young to remember the kind of trolling Pakistan fans had to endure before the final took place.

I do remember, I was there for the final on the forum.. was very similar to this Bossed around no..

The banter was downright insulting tbh, but it led to Pakistan fans enjoying a nice honeymoon period until our team decided to troll us real nice for being cocky the past year.

Pak definitely fought hard, had some good moments and that's about it. It is sad to see how far below standard of Pak cricket has fallen that a series loss, albeit a closely contested one' is being cherished and celebrated.

Don't worry about me.
We lost 5-0 to nz in nz. How worse can it get?
I am actually that pakistan competed well

Maybe in india, as its certainly not being celebrated in Pak.Pak lost a very close series, but there have been an overall improvement in the team, Pak is not a contender for the WC but is likely to be better if there is an improvement in team selection.

Bhai, I didn't mean to be rude and by celebrating I mean in this this forum only.

Agree with rest of your post.

Bhai no where in this forum have people been celebrating, also 1 guy came up with such a thread, and that too when Pak had not lost the series.
In any case even if Pak had won this series, celebrating even that just before the WC would have been pointless.

Both teams are equally pathetic teams but South Africa are mentally strong and they have a better understanding of how to bat in ODIs. Pakistanis, as usual, were panicked throughout the series and could not absorb an iota of pressure.

This South Africa side would get thrashed 5-0 by any half-decent team.
