Hesson has not been a good coach for Pak because he has been unable to understand the strengths and weaknesses of Pak team.
Shadab & Nawaz cannot be relied as spin bowlers. If they are batters, they must bat higher. Babar was ousted then brought back for absolute nothing.
The tactical decisions have been clueless. In the world cup, wherever they needed to bat first, they fielded and vice versa.
The other thing, however, is that Pak is an absolutely terrible fielding team overall. That is something that no coach can be blamed on.
I haven't watched Pakistan cricket for a while, but I watched the PSL a couple of seasons ago, and the same players who were performing there, i.e., Saim, Farhan, Ali Agha, Usman Khan, Nafay are playing in this world cup. They didn't look great even then, so was expecting a lot to think they were going to perform against the best teams.
At least Farhan has had a good tournament though, so kudos to him.
The coaches are getting well paid I imagine, so it's not a thankless task.

Mike Hesson ?
How is he an excellent coach
Hesson so far been horrible and stubborn
Stuck with Babar for playing a test match in t20
Dropping Sufyan for Useless Shadab
Hassan nawaz and others
His obsession with bits and pieces all roundersBased on what i have seen and observed he is a very defensive coach. There is no other reasonable explanation for him packing the side with so many bits and pieces all rounders. A coaches primary job is to also read and understand the pitches. Packing the side with so many spinners and that also bits and pieces spinners when the conditions did not aid spin as much as expected is also scandalous. He didn't have the guts.
Brother suppose you are coach of Pakistan...Did you miss how he transformed New Zealand in the 2010s?
Hesson supports a tulla like Agha as captain and at number 3 in T20I. Unforgivable.I like Hesson but he deserves blame too.
He's put too much faith in Pakistan's "all-rounders," who are sub-par players. This is not NZ where the all-rounders have some quality to them, instead these guys are mediocre players that happen to bat and bowl a bit.
Just because you add a million of them doesn't mean it will work. Low quality is low quality.
A good coach should be optimizing his XI and I don't feel he's done that.
