Good match for Shoaib Malik

Also well done to Karachi blues for beating Peshawar!

It's a joke that some of the u19 battters couldn't get in to these teams. A good number of the top order batsmen for most teams are genuine no 8 or 9.

The like of Babar, fakhar, rizwan etc can play for Pakistan in their 60s considering the batting talent currently.

MOHAMMAD RAZA-UL-MUSTAFA WK batsman

What???

Babar and Rizwan shouldn’t be playing white ball cricket right now if we are fair let alone in their 60s

Yes we have world class talent in domestics. Look at the joke playing in national t20s. Can you name their replacements?

Saw a little bit of the Bawalpur game- standard was awful. The pindi- Abbottabad game was better but too much rubbish served up and some of the fielding is comical.

Any young players catch your eye so far?

Karachi, 24 November 2023: The first day of the AH Group Presents Jazz Super 4G National T20 Cup 2023-24 was full of action as 16 teams battled it out across four venues in Karachi.

Group A

Syed Waleed Azeem and Mohammad Taha took three wickets each to bundle out Peshawar for 101 as Karachi Blues romped to the 102-run target for the loss of just three batters and 10 balls remaining. Opening batter Fazal Subhan made 50 not out of 48 balls to steer the chase.

In the Lahore Whites-Larkana clash, Ahmed Shehzad and Muhammad Akhlaq showcased their batting heroics with a 113-run opening partnership to secure a seven-wicket win at NBP Sports Complex. Mohammad Irfan fronted Lahore Whites’ well-rounded bowling effort with 3-12 to contain Larkana to a modest 137-8.

Group B

Karachi Whites captain Asad Shafiq led from the front with a solid 59 against Islamabad at UBL Sports Complex to help his side complete a four-wicket win with nine balls to spare. Earlier, leg-spinner Arif Yaqoob took four wickets to restrict Islamabad to 119-7 in 20 overs.

Dera Murad Jamali held onto a tight one-run victory over Hyderabad, managing to successfully defend a low target of 118 at UBL Sports Complex. An all-round bowling performance spearheaded by an economical spell from Nasir Khan, who gave away just eight runs in his four overs and took a wicket, kept Hyderabad to 116-8 in 20 overs.

Group C

Rawalpindi wicket-keeper Mohammad Raza-ul-Mustafa fired an unbeaten 42 off 18 balls to vault Rawalpindi to a dramatic three-wicket win over Abbottabad at National Bank Stadium. Fakhar Zaman’s feisty 72 to help Abbottabad post 177-5 went in vain as Raza’s boundary-laden cameo saw Rawalpindi win on the penultimate ball.

Asif Ali-led Faisalabad delivered a thumping performance with both bat and ball to register a comprehensive eight-wicket win over Bahawalpur. Faisalabad pacer Asad Raza’s three wickets and contributions from Waqas Maqsood (2-24) and Shehzad Gul (2-15) saw Bahawalpur muster only 117-9, which seemed insufficient in front of Mohammad Faizan’s brilliant 76 not out off 55 deliveries.

Group D

Shoaib Malik-led Sialkot clinched a Super Over win over Multan after both sides’ scores were level at 148. The six-ball shootout bowled by Malik saw him take both wickets for just three runs after which Sialkot got over the line in four deliveries. Multan had notable performers in Zeeshan Ashraf (61, 45b, 4x4s, 4x6s) and Tahir Hussain (4-26) while Sialkot opener Mirza Tahir Baig had made a 48-ball 66 in the first innings.

FATA right-arm pacer Shahid Aziz rattled the AJK batting with a four-fer as the latter fell short by 40 runs in the encounter at HPC Oval Ground. In the first innings, Khushdil Shah (54, 40b, 3x4s, 3x6s) and Mohammad Sarwar Afridi (44 not out, 30b, 2x4s, 4x6s) set the tone for FATA reaching the match-winning total of 153-8 in 20 overs.

Absolute awful standard i guess it was expected with so many teams
In a way I don't mind a tournament like this for T20 to give unknowns a possible chance to discover the unpolished diamond. Because lets face it, we are reliant on hail Mary's to find talent because we have given up on developing any systems.

just seeing this shows you everything you need to know about the direction Pakistan cricket is heading in, total shambles that is barely professional standard.

on a side note seems like everyone who did well in the PJL has been ignored, and you have random players from all over representing. truly depressing.

Right so we bring in a group of players from a under 16 league for the sake of it?

The standards are appalling and aren't going to improve any time soon. In charge of our cricket we have Baba Sethi and AZs money laundering Banker. The big 3, are getting stronger and we are stuck with these idiots

Right so we bring in a group of players from a under 16 league for the sake of it?
Some of them are miles better then the players playing here. Its embarrassing some of the players playing in the national t20. This tournament is 100 step backwards from last year.

Majority of the batsmen playing in the top order for some of these teams won't bat any higher then no 9 or 10 in international

Right so we bring in a group of players from a under 16 league for the sake of it?
the players in the PJL are all around twenty now, the fact that not even one has made this league says far more of the selection process for the league than those players ability.

one team had ten debutants, its obvious some players are being played simply for the sake of it anyway.

Some guys have probably paid to play.

No, it means all the standouts from PJL are where exactly? They played some U-19 tours, did well and are nowhere to be seen domestically.

The lack of development and the lack of even caring to develop players by PCB is really shocking. You see some of the highlights, these guys look so bad, so many mediocre bowlers who not only lack but don't even have a lick of line/length, spinners who can't turn the ball and batters who can't hit a 6. The lack of talent is ridiculous and still, there is a lack of refusal to give those standout PJL players a proper chance.

I'm glad we got rid of the 6 team format so that we can watch Dera Murad Jamali vs. Northwest Territory of Chai Walas United play club cricket. Sure the standard is way down, stats will be inflated, and players won't improve but at least they all have jobs right??

It's only downfall in domestic cricket after Ramiz's era.

This current domestic system is even worse than the old department on in early 2010s

A new era of T20 cricket under a new regime begins in Pakistan. Really looking forward to this tournament and keeping a close eye on how things unfold considering the new management and selection committee. The doors will now hopefully be open for every deserving player in Pakistan cricket to show what they are capable of and make strides towards the national side. World Cup 2024 is the goal, and a new hope under Shaheen glimmers, as long as the selection of the national side is honest in accordance to batting positions and deserving bowling options

Some questions that I am seeking answers too in this tournament…

1. Will Amir and Imad play? A lot of talk sitting outside…the ship may have sailed for them for One Day cricket but both are capable to represent Pakistan in the shortest format.

Less talk, get your regional gears on and put your money where your mouth is!

2. Will we see a re-invented Babar Azam? At number 3 perhaps? He’s seen very closely how the big boys of white ball cricket play when batting in the powerplay (Rohit, Warner, Marsh, Head, DeQock, Ravindra etc).

Will we finally see the unshackled, unrestrained Babar Azam?

3. All eyes on Abrar Ahmed. Everyone wanted him to play in the squad, well here is your chance to show why everyone was crying for you to be a part of the XI instead of sitting on the bench. Will he prove the management wrong by displaying white ball skills that we have been yearning for since Ajmal was banned?

4. All eyes on Saim Ayub and Fakhar Zaman, what positions will they bat for their regions? Pakistan see them as middle order batsmen apparently

5. Asif Afridi, Salman Irshad, Zaman Khan…time for you boys to make your mark now. 3 excellent T20 bowling prospects.

6. Haseebullah, Abdul Wahid Bangalzai, Abdullah Shafique, Sahibzada Farhan, Muhammad Hurraira…Are you boys ready to step up and play like the big boys? Pakistan cricket will move forward if it’s young guns are willing to break free. All players listed are capable of playing safe runs, safe approach 50s…but can they now take it to the next step and cut loose? Saim Ayub is fearless, and everyone wants him! can we see these boys ready to be fearless as well?

7. Mohammad Harris, time to dominate, break records. 13-15 ball fifties, 30-40 ball hundreds…that’s what you can achieve if you go for it son. Go for it!

8. Arshad Iqbal, Ihsanullah, Shahnawaz Dahani…Next World Cup in South Africa, a huge opportunity for Tall pacers.

9. Sufyan Muqeem and Faisal Akram…BIG DEMAND for left are chinaman bowlers, are you ready to step up for the call?

10. Aamer Jamal…A new hope in the pace all-rounders department. Will he be allowed to express himself in both Batting and Bowling the way an All-Rounder should be allowed to express themselves?

11. Nauman Ali and Sajid Khan, a big opportunity for a proper Test Class/FC level spinner to break into the Pakistan side and deliver 10 crucial overs like Maharaj delivers for South Africa..are these two ready to take up the challenge and finally provide Pakistan with a proper spinner’s option for the 2025 Champion’s trophy?

12. Mubasir Khan and Omair Bin Yousuf: Two highly exciting, talented middle order batting prospects with ability to power through. Massive opportunity for you two to now show what you are made of in this new Dawn!

13. Iftikhar Ahmed, are you gonna show that you can actually claim to be the strongest power hitter with performances you are capable of playing in T10, so why not bring that game into T20 and actually tear the roof down for once!

14. Asif Ali and Khushdil Shah…you boys have big daddy power, but you boys are batting too low to make that count. Step up, bat in the top 4 and show us that you can still offer a lot to Pakistan cricket.

Some of the few things that I am looking forward to. Maybe you guys can also highlight what you want to see in this tournament.

Absolute meal made by PCB on coverage.

Thanks to this new era. Well done.

How many teams are there in the NatWest T20 blast?
The quality is miles better than this rubbish. You literally have tailenders pretending to be batsmens and the fielding level is as bad or as good as a 3rd 11 club game.

How many teams are there in the NatWest T20 blast?
Seems you are Still lost one year later. How can you compare T20 Blast with this joke.
It is of Such a poor quality that it is impossible to watch, follow. No performance count and you can't judge a player.

Anyone heard of the Urdu maxim "Jungle mai mor nacha kis nay dekha?" - basically means if something fancy happens in a place where no one looks or cares about, no one will know about it

Made bucketloads of teams to make PDM and their boys happy and can't even cover one game properly on TV or even on scorecard.

Pathetic.

Ali Majid is such an underrated bowler here. He is a good banker to have in the side.

Fast action, flat hit a length leg spin. Just not enough control and guile like Rashid Khan….plus I’m not sure he has a flipper/googly as I have not seen enough of him.

This is a good bowling attack Multan have

They look like a solid T20 side

Disagree, I've not seen him bowl before so just basing it on this game but he was all over the place with his line. He bowled a lot of loose deliveries that should have been put away. Any decent batsman would handle him very easily with no spin, only a quick bowling action and skiddy pace. I definitely didn't see him bowl any flippers or googlies, just straight with full toss and wides thrown in.

It was an attempt to please those losers who hated IK and in the end the standard is no better than league cricket in England. Infact I recognise many names that play in the Sunday parks leagues and get carted around by taxi drivers.

Under the reign of Ramiz, Wasim and Mani the domestic structure and quality was much better with full hd coverage and a certain excitement.

I wonder where's the money going now. Not to mention ICC's recent revenue share is much better as well now.

Yes, that's true. Ramiz Raja improved the broadcast of domestic cricket.

Sialkot 151/3 (15 overs game) vs FATA in the first innings.

Mohammad Huraira 71* off 42 striking nearly at 170 with 11 fours.

This is not even Huraira's game. He can develop though. But he's showing his anger through his performances in his weakest format yet.

This is a sign of an elite mentality. Playing out of your comfort zone and letting your bat speak.

Sorry mate. That’s not good enough. Doesn’t matter how good you look or how young you are!

One way to improve domestic cricket is to scrap department cricket altogether

I'm hearing department cricket are not really offering decent contracts apart from established international cricketers. If it is the case then department cricket should be scrapped at any cost because it is just waste of time if players aren't getting same packages before. Playing regions and department separately is causing everything being cramped together resulting in rubbish quality. PCB has 18 teams in one city, 3 matches in a row on same ground, no break at all. It reduces the whole quality of cricket.

8 FC in first division and 10 FC team in second division

18 teams list A tournament

18 team T20 tournament.

All three format should be played from 1st September to 10 days before PSL.

I like the idea every team getting an opportunity like in National T20, it should be extended be Pakistan cup as well. The tournament should be properly structured where quality is insured. Teams playing in different cities, no such rubbish as 3 matches in a day on same ground.

FATA win rain-hit clash, Lahore Blues clinch one-wicket victory in last-ball finish on second day of National T20 Cup

Karachi, 25 November 2023: The second day of the AH Group Presents Jazz Super 4G National T20 Cup 2023-24 saw action across three venues in Karachi. The side chased the target of 183 in 17.5 overs, losing only two wickets in the process, which came courtesy of left-arm spinner Nasir Khan.

At the same venue, Lahore Blues clinched a last-ball thriller over Hyderabad, edging to a one-wicket victory as the side chased 154 on the back of a collective batting effort. Three wickets by Jawad Ali and two wickets each by Daniyal Hussain Rajput and Asim Ali ensured that Imran Butt-led Lahore Blues were fiercely challenged during the chase.

I wish there was better coverage, would have been fun to have seen Lahore Blues beat Hyderabad by one wicket. Looked like a close encounter.

To be honest 80% of the PJL players were better than these unknown unskilled players , PJL players were properly coached as all the batters had decent technique and almost every bowler could swing the ball , spinners were total crap though.
