Pakistan need to disrespect South African bowlers with the bat-like they did with Dale Steyn in 2019

Before the 2019 tour everyone was afraid of the big bad wolf Dale Steyn.

And why not, he has embarrassed us with ball across all 3 formats, bundling us out for 49 couple years back, and laughing in the face of our once premier batsman, Md. Hafeez.

But in 2019 Pakistani batsmen, especially the young and green Babar Azam, decided to take him on.

A rare feat of bravery by our batsmen.

Yes he took wickets here and there, but there was pressure on him this last time. The zebra (Pakistan) finally squared up to the lion (SA).

That's what we need to do. Dump out all cowardly batsmen and replace them with bravehearts. Tests doesn't mean you just block till the cows come home. I'm talking about Shan mainly and Haris, two guys I once backed.

This is 2021, a dawn of a new era... yes I know we have heard that many time BUT, there is no Misbah, no Hafeez, no senior, so we need the young men to STAND UP, and give way to a new era of Pakistan batting.

Our bowling resources are lacking rn, so we need to go all in on the batting and bat SA into submission.

What say you?

Not quite sure about disrespect, but its important we don't get bogged down like we did in some periods during the tests in NZ. Need to try and find the balance since when we say we want to bat positively, a lot of the players just start wildly slogging.

The bowlers have to step up though. Can't win matches consistently without taking 20 wickets.

As said by the great man on his channel, Inzy the Matchwinner, we need some badtameez batsmen.

They should be milk-able, SL batsmen were able to play their shots against them.

To be fair 2019 dale steyn was on his latter end of his career and coming off injuries.

This current batch of bowlers have everything to prove and become the next greats of south africa

Rabada, nortje, ngidi, simpala , mulder

This won't be that easy to face you've got three who can easily crank it 90mph +

They need to move on with Shan Masood, the guy doesn’t seem to add any momentum to the batting. On survival mode throughout and hopes to get going after playing 100 balls, whilst having scored 20 runs in the process

OP is not wrong actually. If pak can't disrespect SA at home, then what's the point even of home advantage. i expect pakhstan to win convincingly here.

What great batsman is shan holding back with his slow batting ?
Any why is strike rate relevant in a test match.

Problem is Misbah is still at helm with this team. They are remaining as timid tigers I am afraid.

Pak should bat in a similar way as India batted against SA in 2019.

Rohit and Mayank at the top absolutely dominated the series and made life worse for SA bowlers. Such was the humiliation that at one point, even Umesh Yadav tonked one of their spinners for 3-4 sixes in an over.

Lol what are you talking about? Only Babar Azam did that. The rest of them did nothing. Which is why we lost 3-0.

Babar himself averaged 35 odd in that series.

He's talking about slapping Steyn around which I agree Babar did. But OP is telling it like it was some kind of moment in sporting history.

I also don't know what rare feat of bravery by our batsmen he is talking about. I think he and I were watching two different series. Because the one I saw featured our batsmen falling like nine pins infront of Duanne Olivier bouncers.

Besides Rabada and Nortje none of these guys are any good. This attack is rubbish compared to the attack to the attack of Morkel, Steyn, Philander or Morkel, Philander, Rabada...and Steyn.

Scoring some pretty little shots off a bowler isn't akin to slapping him around. All Babar did is play some good looking strokes in that series. To leave a mark in a series, you need to score centuries and average close to 50 at least.

Exactly.. This should be mantra for winning.

We were thrashed 3-0 and that’s what matters not a couple of quick fifties by Babar Steyn wasn’t at his best and past his prime but still took wickets.

At home we should do better with more familiar conditions but it won’t be easy as SA still have talented players and we’ve been losing too much recently.

Yeah honestly, that 3-0 defeat was actually a shameful performance against a transitioning SA side, nothing really worth hyping about what Pak batsman did to Steyn because SL went on to win the series there and both SL and Pak have been in the same boat over the last 3-4 years.

Actually even Nortje hasn't proved anything in test cricket as of now.
Ngidi is bog average.
Rabada is the only threat but yeah Keshav Maharaj can come up with a surprise.

How about Haider Ali instead of dead meat Abid and Talat hussain in the playing
11.

I would go with this line up-

Shan
Haider Ali
Azhar
Saud Shakeel
Talat Hussain
Fawad Alam
Rizwan
Hassan Ali
Waqas
Zahid Mehmood
Yasir Shah

lol. To disrespect a bowler you need to last more than 20 balls as a first step.

It takes a big heart to admit this, but I was wrong about Shan as I mentioned in post #1. He will be the baqra to be slaughtered for baqra eid if we send him up that high. We need batsmen like Babar the Brave.

Right now the domestics are overflowing with talented batsmen of all ages, ethnicities and low in bowling talent.

We have the means to put forth an elite Asian batting line up.

True. But having seen Nortje play, I would be very surprised if he doesn't become a force in world cricket. That kind of pace and stamina to keep bowling long spells is a rare thing combination to have these days. With that pace I think he is already a threat but once he gets more consistent with his lengths he is going to become one of the toughest bowlers in the world to face.

Abid has shown more grit and fight than Shan.

They should debut Haider Ali in that series. Can't expect Masood to take on the bowling even on a flat Rawalpindi wicket.

Hell no! :danish
He is not at all ready for tests that man can barely get through 50 runs without playing umar akmal-esque shot

Btw I absolutely love to see him bat but he needs atleast 2 good full first class seasons to develop as test batsman
