Security forces kill 19 terrorists in 3 separate operations across KP: ISPR
Security forces have killed 19 terrorists in three separate operations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the military’s media wing said on Thursday.
According to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), “On 9-10 September, nineteen Khwarij belonging to the Indian proxy, Fitna al Khwarij were sent to hell in three separate engagements in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province.”
The state uses the term Fitna al Khwarij to refer to terrorists belonging to the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). It later designated Balochistan-based groups as Fitna-al-Hindustan to highlight India’s alleged role in terrorism and destabilisation across Pakistan.
The ISPR said that an intelligence-based operation was conducted in KP’s Mohmand district upon the reported presence of terrorists there.
“During the conduct of [the] operation, own troops effectively engaged the khwarij’s* location, and after an intense fire exchange, fourteen Indian-sponsored khwarij were sent to hell.”
It added that another intelligence-based operation was conducted in the general Datta Khel area of the North Waziristan district, where, during the ensuing fire exchange, four more terrorists were neutralised by the security forces.
In another encounter that took place in Bannu district, one more terrorist was killed, the statement added.
“Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from Indian-sponsored killed Khwarij, who remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities in these areas,” the statement said.
“Sanitisation operations are being conducted to eliminate any other kharji found in the area, as the security forces of Pakistan are determined to wipe out the menace of Indian-sponsored terrorism from the country.”
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif commended the successful counter-terrorism operations.
According to Radio Pakistan, President Zardari said, in a statement, said the courage and professionalism of Pakistan’s brave soldiers continued to protect the nation from the scourge of terrorism.
“He emphasised that such operations demonstrate Pakistan’s unshakeable resolve to confront and defeat Indian-sponsored terrorism,” the report said.
Per the report, PM Shehbaz said, “The war against terrorism will continue until this scourge is completely eradicated from the country.”
“Officers and personnel of the Pakistan Army are tirelessly engaged day and night to foil the nefarious designs of the Khawarij and the Fitna of Hindustan,” he was quoted as saying.
Pakistan has lately been witnessing an uptick in terrorist activities, mainly in KP and Balochistan. In November 2022, the TTP, after breaking a ceasefire deal with the government, had vowed to escalate attacks against the security forces, the police, and other law enforcement agencies’ personnel.
Last week, six soldiers were martyred, while five terrorists were killed as security forces thwarted an attack on the Federal Constabulary (FC) Headquarters in the Bannu district.
In August, security forces neutralised 50 terrorists during a four-day operation in Balochistan.

Seven FC men martyred, one missing in Dir
At least seven Frontier Corps (FC) personnel were martyred and 13 others injured during a search and strike operation against militants in the Sar Banda area of Maidan in Lower Dir on Thursday.
According to official sources, one FC soldier was also reported missing after a fierce gun battle with militants in the mountainous terrain within the jurisdiction of Lal Qila police station. The militants had taken positions and opened fire on a security convoy.
The wounded were shifted to Lal Qila Hospital, and later referred to District Headquarters Hospital Timergara.
Police officials said a heavy contingent of police, Elite Force and Dir Scouts remained in the area as the operation continued.
Security forces also claimed to have inflicted “significant losses” on the militants, though no details were immediately provided.
Lal Qila was once a stronghold of the proscribed Tehreek-i-Nifaz-i-Shariat-i-Muhammadi (TNSM), led by Maulana Sufi Muhammad.
His son-in-law, Mullah Fazlullah, became the head of the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and fled to Afghanistan during the 2009 military offensive in Malakand. He was later killed in an air strike in Afghanistan.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the security forces for the successful operations. In their statements, both leaders lauded the bravery and professionalism of the troops in eliminating 19 militants, APP reported.
“Pakistan is determined to eliminate Indian-sponsored terrorism,” President Zardari said, reaffirming the nation’s resolve to completely eradicate terrorism and praying for the safety and success of the security forces. PM Shehbaz also commended the security forces for successful operations in Mohmand, North Waziristan and Bannu, reiterating that the war against terrorism would continue until its complete elimination from the country.
Police post
Separately, militants launched a late-night assault on the Lajbook police post. Police sources said personnel deployed there repelled the attack after several hours of firing, forcing the militants to retreat. No casualties were reported.
In another development, the Lower Dir district administration imposed Section 144 on Thursday, banning the flying of drones, quadcopters and balloons across the district. Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Arif Khan directed assistant commissioners and police officials to ensure strict enforcement, warning that violators would face legal action.

The elders also announced strict penalties, including demolition of houses and a fine of Rs2 million, against anyone found facilitating militants with food, shelter or other assistance.

In an “encounter that took place in South Waziristan District, thirteen more khwarij were neutralised by the security forces. However, during intense fire exchange, twelve brave sons of soil, having fought gallantly, paid the ultimate sacrifice and embraced shahadat (martyrdom)”, the ISPR said.
The military’s media affairs wing further said that 22 “Indian-sponsored khwarij were sent to hell” in Bajaur after an intense fire exchange during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) conducted by the security forces.
“Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from Indian-sponsored killed khwarij, who remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities in these areas,” the statement added.
“Intelligence reports have unequivocally confirmed physical involvement of Afghan nationals in these heinous acts. Besides, [the] use of Afghan soil against Pakistan by Fitna al Khawarij terrorists continues to remain a grave point of concern,” the military further noted.
“Pakistan expects the interim Afghan government to uphold its responsibilities and deny use of its soil for terrorist activities against Pakistan,” it added.
Pakistan has long maintained that it faces a persistent threat from militant groups operating out of Afghanistan, including the TTP and the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), which was recently designated by the US State Department as a Foreign Terrorist Organisation.
The ISPR asserted: “Sanitisation operations are being conducted to eliminate any other Indian-sponsored khwarji found in the area, as the security forces of Pakistan are determined to wipe out the menace of Indian-sponsored terrorism from the country and such sacrifices of our brave men further strengthen our resolve.”

He added that the arrested terrorist was actively recruiting terrorists in Dalbandin and supplying weapons, describing him as a “hardcore terrorist.”
Bugti emphasised that no concessions would be made to terrorists targeting civilians. “We are working to maintain peace in Balochistan. Terrorists will not be allowed to challenge the writ of the state,” he asserted.

Bugti further criticised groups spreading propaganda about missing persons, stating, “We will not allow a state within a state to be established inside Pakistan.”

Gunship helicopters pound terrorist hideouts in Lower Dir’s Maidan
Security forces on Friday pounded terrorist hideouts with the help of gunship helicopters in different parts of Maidan area in Lower Dir district.
Also, two terrorists were killed in a fierce clash with police in Bannu district.
Residents of Maidan told Dawn that three gunship helicopters resorted to heavy shelling on terrorist hideouts in Sar Banda, Mulayano Banda and Abdullah Banda areas.
They said the shelling lasted around one and a half hours before copters left the area.
Officials said the operation was launched over reports of increased terrorist presence and movement in the area.
Bannu police kill two terrorists in clash
Details of damage caused to terrorists could not be ascertained.
Residents insisted that a child, who had gone to a nearby hill, was slightly injured in the shelling. He was shifted to the THQ hospital in Lal Qila.
They said security forces had taken positions in government schools in Atto and Mulayano Banda areas. The schools were vacated a few days ago.
The residents said terrorists were recently spotted in Mond Ghar, Kas Ghurgi, Mishwano and Sar Banda areas.
On Sept 11, seven Frontier Corps personnel were martyred and 13 injured in a clash with terrorists in Sar Banda area of Maidan.
Maidan was once a stronghold of the proscribed Tehreek Nifaz-i-Shariat Mohammadi led by Maulana Sufi Mohammad.
In 2008, terrorists took control of most Maidan parts and set up parallel courts. However, a military operation in April 2009 forced most TTP fighters to flee to Afghanistan and take shelter in Kunar province. The operation displaced around 300,000 residents, who lived either in camps or with relatives in other parts of the province.
Also, two terrorists were killed in a fierce clash with police in Dil Mamashkhel area of Bannu district late on Thursday.
A police official told Dawn that the clash took place within the limits of the cantonment police station when a police team assisted by commandos of the counterterrorism department reached the rural area on the information about the presence of terrorists.
He said the terrorists, who were planting an improvised explosive device on the roadside, opened fire on the policemen.
“In retaliatory fire, law enforcers killed two terrorists. However, the others fled, taking advantage of thick and dense bushes and populated areas,” he said.
Meanwhile, elders from rural areas in Lakki Marwat district on Friday vowed to check crimes and anti-peace activities.
During a jirga in the Masha Mansdoor area on Friday, they said the people involved in robberies and anti-peace activities won’t be spared.
The participants included elders and villagers from Titterkhel, Omar Titterkhel, Tabi Murad, Ghazikhel, Zer Mallahkhel, Samandar Titterkhel, Sharbikhel, Qutabkhel, Badnikhel, Jhangkhel, Zangikhel, Mandrakhel and Mash Mansoor.
An elder complained that robberies were reported in rural areas of the district after the start of winter.
He said highways and roads in urban and rural areas had become unsafe due to the presence of “anti-state elements.”
The other participants said they would soon start pruning trees on both sides of the link road from Umar Adda to Mandrakhel via Masha Mansoor to check criminal and terrorist activities.
“In case a robbery occurs on a village road, the Chagha Party (armed villagers) will chase outlaws until they’re captured,” an elder said.
He said if any member of the Chagha Party was killed or injured by terrorists or criminals, elders of all rural areas would jointly compensate the victim’s family.
The elders asked youths to guard their villages and hamlets during the nighttime.

Security forces on Friday pounded terrorist hideouts with the help of gunship helicopters in different parts of Maidan area in Lower Dir district.
Also, two terrorists were killed in a fierce clash with police in Bannu district.
Residents of Maidan told Dawn that three gunship helicopters resorted to heavy shelling on terrorist hideouts in Sar Banda, Mulayano Banda and Abdullah Banda areas.
They said the shelling lasted around one and a half hours before copters left the area.
Officials said the operation was launched over reports of increased terrorist presence and movement in the area.
Bannu police kill two terrorists in clash
Details of damage caused to terrorists could not be ascertained.
Residents insisted that a child, who had gone to a nearby hill, was slightly injured in the shelling. He was shifted to the THQ hospital in Lal Qila.
They said security forces had taken positions in government schools in Atto and Mulayano Banda areas. The schools were vacated a few days ago.
The residents said terrorists were recently spotted in Mond Ghar, Kas Ghurgi, Mishwano and Sar Banda areas.
On Sept 11, seven Frontier Corps personnel were martyred and 13 injured in a clash with terrorists in Sar Banda area of Maidan.
Maidan was once a stronghold of the proscribed Tehreek Nifaz-i-Shariat Mohammadi led by Maulana Sufi Mohammad.
In 2008, terrorists took control of most Maidan parts and set up parallel courts. However, a military operation in April 2009 forced most TTP fighters to flee to Afghanistan and take shelter in Kunar province. The operation displaced around 300,000 residents, who lived either in camps or with relatives in other parts of the province.
Also, two terrorists were killed in a fierce clash with police in Dil Mamashkhel area of Bannu district late on Thursday.
A police official told Dawn that the clash took place within the limits of the cantonment police station when a police team assisted by commandos of the counterterrorism department reached the rural area on the information about the presence of terrorists.
He said the terrorists, who were planting an improvised explosive device on the roadside, opened fire on the policemen.
“In retaliatory fire, law enforcers killed two terrorists. However, the others fled, taking advantage of thick and dense bushes and populated areas,” he said.
Meanwhile, elders from rural areas in Lakki Marwat district on Friday vowed to check crimes and anti-peace activities.

7 ‘India-sponsored’ terrorists killed in IBO in Balochistan’s Sherani: ISPR
Security forces killed seven terrorists during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Balochistan’s Sherani district, the military’s media affairs wing said on Friday.
In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that on October 1, security forces conducted an IBO in Sherani on the reported presence of terrorists belonging to Indian proxy, Fitna al Khawarij.
Fitna al Khawarij is a term the state uses for terrorists belonging to the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
“During the conduct of [the] operation, own forces effectively engaged the terrorists’ location, and after an intense fire exchange, seven Indian-sponsored terrorists were sent to hell,” the ISPR said.

Lt col, major among 11 personnel martyred in KP’s Orakzai IBO: ISPR
Eleven military personnel, including a lieutenant colonel and a major, were martyred during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Orakzai district, the military’s media affairs wing said on Wednesday.
A statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that last night, security forces conducted an IBO in Orakzai district on the reported presence of terrorists belonging to Indian proxy Fitna Al Khawarij.
Fitna Al Khawarij is the state-designated term for the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
“During the conduct of operation, 19 Indian-sponsored khwarij were sent to hell due to effective engagement by own troops,” the ISPR said.
It added that during the exchange of fire, 39-year-old Lieutenant Colonel Junaid Tariq, who was leading his troops from the front, and his second-in-command, 33-year-old Major Tayyab Rahat, embraced martyrdom along with nine of their men.
The soldiers were identified as 38-year-old Naib Subedar Azam Gul, 35-year-old Naik Adil Hussain, 34-year-old Naik Gul Ameer, 31-year-old Lance Naik Sher Khan, 32-year-old Lance Naik Talish Faraz, 32-year-old Lance Naik Irshad Hussain, 28-year-old Sepoy Tufail Khan, 23-year-old Sepoy Aqib Ali and 24-year-old Sepoy Muhammad Zahid.
The ISPR said that a sanitisation operation was being conducted to eliminate any other Indian-sponsored kharji found in the area. It further stated that security forces were “determined to wipe out the menace of Indian-sponsored terrorism from the country and such sacrifices of our brave men further strengthen our resolve”.
Funeral prayers were offered for the two officers in Rawalpindi’s Chaklala district, which were attended by Chief of the Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, federal ministers and military and civic officials, the ISPR said in a later statement.
“The prime minister, while paying tribute to the 11 shuhadas (martyrs) of [the] Orakzai incident, resolved that [the] Pakistani nation stands resolute and firm against this menace of terrorism and the shuhadas’ ultimate sacrifice is a reminder of the unwavering resolve of the nation to defend the motherland at all costs,” the statement read, adding that the remaining nine martyrs would be laid to rest in their native towns with full military honours.
PM Shehbaz paid tributes to the country’s security forces for killing 19 terrorists and also expressed grief over the martyrdom of the soldiers, including Lieutenant Colonel Arif and Major Rahat, according to a statement issued by the prime minister’s office.
“The sacrifices of the fearless sons of security forces will never go in vain,” he said.
“We will crush the nefarious intentions of Indian-backed terrorists. We will not allow elements that harm Pakistan’s integrity to succeed,” he added. PM Shehbaz said the government was determined to eradicate the menace of terrorism from the country.
A statement issued by the presidency said President Asif Ali Zardari had paid tributes to the “courageous action of security forces in the Orakzai district”.
It added, “[The] president expressed satisfaction over the elimination of 19 terrorists of the Indian-backed khwarij. The President declared Lt. Col. Junaid Tariq shaheed, Major Tayyab Rahat and other martyrs as heroes of the nation,” the statement read.
It added that Zardari expressed heartfelt sympathy with the families of the martyrs, praying that they bear their loss with patience and courage.
The president said that the brave sons set an eternal example by sacrificing their lives while defending their country. “The sacrifices of the martyrs are a symbol of the nation’s resolve and unity.”
He reiterated the “resolve to completely eliminate Indian-backed terrorism from the soil of Pakistan”.
“The entire nation stands as a lead wall with its armed forces,” the statement quoted him as saying.
A statement issued by the PPP said party chairperson Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari had also expressed grief over the martyrdom of the 11 security personnel and paid them tributes.
The statement posted on the PPP’s X account said Bilawal extended condolences to the families of the martyred and expressed solidarity with them.
“Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari prayed for the elevation of the ranks of the martyrs,” the statement said, adding that he reaffirmed his “unwavering support for the security forces during the ongoing operation for the elimination of terrorists”.
National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, expressing grief over the martyrdom of the security personnel and paying tributes to them, reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolve to eliminate the threat of terrorism, state-run APP reported.
“The sacrifices of our armed forces and security personnel in the war against terrorism will never go in vain. Terrorist […] will never succeed in fulfilling their nefarious designs,” the APP quoted him as saying.
Meanwhile, Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan Reza Amiri Moghadam said in a statement that he was “extremely dejected” to learn of the martyrdom of the personnel.
“In this moment of profound grief, I extend my heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathies to the government, armed forces and the people of Pakistan, particularly to the bereaved families who have lost their loved ones,” the statement read. “May Allah Almighty grant eternal peace to the souls of the departed and bestow strength and patience upon their families.”
Pakistan has witnessed a surge in terrorist attacks, especially in KP and Balochistan, predominantly targeting the police, law enforcement agencies’ personnel, and security forces. Attacks increased after the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) broke a ceasefire agreement with the government in 2022.
Two reports, issued last week by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies and the Centre for Research and Security Studies, about militant violence in the country over the past month, stated that the first three quarters of 2025 saw nearly as much violence as witnessed in all of 2024.

Eight terrorists eliminated in Tank IBO: ISPR
ISPR says killed terrorist were involved in activities against forces and civilians
At least eight Fitna al-Khawarij terrorists were neutralised during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) carried out in Tank District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
In a statement, the military's media wing said that the Pakistan Armed Forces conducted the IBO in the area on the reported presence of terrorists.
"During the conduct of operation, own troops effectively engaged khawarij locations, and after an intense fire exchange, eight Indian sponsored khawarij were sent to hell," the ISPR statement read.
Security forces recovered large caches of weapons and ammunition from the killed terrorists, who remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities against the forces and the killing of innocent civilians, it added.
Meanwhile, a sanitisation operation is underway in the area to eliminate any other terrorists found in the area.
Pakistan has been grappling with rising terror incidents, particularly in KP and Balochistan, since the Afghan Taliban regime took power in 2021.
Since then, terrorists have carried out hundreds of cross-border terror attacks in Pakistan, leading to the martyrdom of soldiers and countless civilians, including women and children.
During the first eight months of 2025, KP alone recorded over 600 terror incidents, resulting in the martyrdom of at least 138 civilians and 79 police personnel.
The most recent attack came earlier in the day, when three police personnel, including a high-ranking official, embraced martyrdom after two blasts hit KP's Hangu district.
Police said that SP Operations Asad Zubair and two others were martyred when their vehicle was targeted in an improvised explosive device (IED) attack.
The policemen were rushing to inspect a blast site where a blast had occurred.
Pakistan has long urged the Afghan Taliban regime to prevent its soil from being used to launch attacks inside Pakistan.
The cross-border terrorism also resulted in tense border clashes between forces from the two neighbouring countries earlier this month.
Pakistan struck multiple Taliban posts along the border on October 12 after they, aided by affiliated militants, resorted to unprovoked firing.
Pakistan's retaliatory strikes resulted in the killing of over 200 Afghan Taliban and affiliated militants.
As many as 23 Pakistani soldiers also embraced martyrdom during the clashes.
Security forces also destroyed terrorists' multiple strongholds in "precision strikes" in Afghanistan's Kandahar province and Kabul.
The two countries have since stopped hostilities after a ceasefire agreement, requested by the Afghan Taliban regime.
Delegations from both countries are scheduled to meet in Istanbul, Turkiye, tomorrow (October 25) to hold further discussions on the agreement.

Construction site in Khuzdar attacked, 20 workers kidnapped
Unidentified gunmen reportedly attacked a construction company’s camp in Khuzdar district and ‘abducted 20 labourers’. The assailants also torched several vehicles and heavy machinery, causing extensive damage to the site.Officials said the incident occurred in the remote Kaleri area of Naal, about 80 kilometres from Khuzdar. Armed men reportedly blocked the highway before storming the private company’s camp and crush plant. The company had been working on a key road project linking Khuzdar to Basima in Washuk district—part of Balochistan’s ongoing development plans.
According to Levies officer Ali Akbar, the attackers set fire to machinery and vehicles at the site, damaging at least eight, including heavy equipment and transport trucks. “The gunmen then forcibly took several workers with them,” he said, adding that most of the abducted labourers hailed from Sindh province and had gone to Balochistan for work.
Manager Zulfiqar Ahmed of the construction company D-Baloch, confirmed that the attackers initially kidnapped 20 workers, releasing two later. “Eighteen labourers are still missing,” he said. “The attack has severely affected our operations and created fear among the staff,” he mentioned.

Following the incident, security forces, including the Levies, Frontier Corps, and Counter Terrorism Department, launched a joint search operation. Authorities have cordoned off the area. Local tribal elders are providing all possible help to the agencies in their efforts to locate the missing workers. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack and kidnapping the workers.
Officials noted that armed Baloch insurgent groups have been active in the region and have previously targeted road construction projects and non-local workers, accusing them of representing external interests.
This is the second major abduction of workers in Balochistan within a week. Just days earlier, nine labourers were kidnapped by unidentified gunmen in the Dasht area of Mastung district. With the latest incident, the total number of abducted workers this week has risen to 27.
The recent surge in violence has raised serious security concerns for companies and labourers involved in development projects across the province. The Balochistan government has condemned the attack, pledging to bring the perpetrators to justice.
Local residents and analysts warn that such incidents undermine Balochistan’s fragile development process. They urge authorities to implement a comprehensive security strategy to protect workers and ongoing infrastructure projects.

Three terrorists killed as forces avert suicide attack in North Waziristan
Security forces foiled a major terrorist plot in North Waziristan, killing three Khwarij and averting what officials described as a “potentially catastrophic attack” by terrorists belonging to the Indian proxy group Fitna al Khwarij, the military’s media wing said, referring to the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan.According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement on Saturday, the operation was launched in the Jhallar area of North Waziristan after credible intelligence indicated that Khwarij elements were preparing a vehicle-borne suicide attack.
“Based on credible intelligence on reported presence of Khwarij belonging to Indian Proxy, Fitna al Khwarij preparing a Vehicle borne suicide bomber for a major terrorist activity, security forces conducted an intelligence based operation in general area Jhallar, North Waziristan District,” the ISPR said.
During the conduct of the operation, troops effectively engaged the terrorist hideout, destroying the vehicle being prepared for the suicide attack and eliminating three Indian sponsored Khwarij.
“During the conduct of operation, own troops effectively engaged Khwarij location and through precise and skillful engagement, destroyed the vehicle being prepared for the suicide attack and also eliminated three Indian sponsored Khwarij,” the statement read.
The ISPR added that a sanitisation operation was underway to clear the area of any remaining terrorists. “Sanitization operation is being conducted to eliminate any other Indian sponsored Khwarij found in the area,” it said, reaffirming the military’s resolve to continue its counterterrorism efforts.
The statement further reiterated that the “relentless Counter Terrorism campaign under vision Azm-e-Istihkam (as approved by Federal Apex Committee on National Action Plan) by Security Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies of Pakistan will continue at full pace to wipe out menace of foreign sponsored and supported terrorism from the country and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve.”
Forces wipe out 13 terrorists
Meanwhile, in separate counterterrorism operations in Bajaur and North Waziristan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, security forces killed 13 terrorirts in separate raids, officials said on Saturday.
According to security sources, in Bajaur, five terrorists were eliminated during an operation after they were found using part of a local mosque as a hideout. The terrorists had allegedly turned the mosque into a base to plan and execute terrorist attacks in the region.
Acting on credible intelligence, security personnel conducted a targeted raid, killing the terrorists and securing the area from further threats.
Meanwhile, in North Waziristan, forces foiled an infiltration attempt by 16 terrorists across the Pakistan-Afghanistan border near Hasan Khel in the Spinwam area. In the ensuing exchange of fire, eight terrorists were killed during an intelligence-based operation.
Sources confirmed that the terrorists belonged to the proscribed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). The operation, they added, successfully prevented cross-border attacks and disrupted terrorists movement from Afghan territory.
Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa has faced a sustained wave of terrorist attacks, prompting ongoing security operations against elements described by the state as Fitna al-Khwarij, which is the term used for terrorists affiliated with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
On Oct 24, security forces carried out an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Tank district and killed eight "Khwarij belonging to the Indian proxy Fitna al Khwarij", the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a press release.

On the same day in Hangu Superintendent of Police (SP) Operations Asad Zubair, his gunman Dawood and driver Atif were martyred in explosions near the Ghalmina checkpost within the limits of the Bilyamina Police Station, prompting a massive operation in which two terrorists were killed.
A day earlier, Security forces carried out an intelligence-based operation in Wana, the headquarters of South Waziristan, killing six terrorists and injuring several others, official sources said.
Earlier this week, security forces conducted successful operations in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), killing six terrorists in Dalbandin and destroying multiple terrorist hideouts in Bajaur, according to security sources.

12 militants killed in KP operations; suicide vehicle destroyed
At least 12 militants were killed in a series of security operations in Bajaur, Hangu and North Waziristan districts between Friday night and Saturday, officials and local sources said.
Separately, a station house officer (SHO) was injured in Hangu during follow-up action after a bomb attack on Friday evening that killed SP Asad Zubair and two police guards.
In the Jhallar area of North Waziristan, security forces killed three militants and averted a “potential catastrophic attack” by destroying a vehicle being prepared for a suicide attack, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.
Acting on intelligence about the presence of “Khawarij belonging to Indian proxy Fitna al-Khawarij”, troops “effectively engaged” the militants’ location and destroyed the vehicle besides killing three militants.
SHO wounded in follow-up action after attack on SP
The state uses the term Fitna al-Khawarij to refer to militants of the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
“A sanitisation operation is being conducted to eliminate any other Indian-sponsored Kharji found in the area as a relentless counterterrorism campaign … by security forces and law enforcement agencies of Pakistan will continue at full pace to wipe out the menace of foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country,” the ISPR said.
Separately, security officials said a targeted operation in War Mamund tehsil of Bajaur left five militants dead and several injured.
The operation, conducted on intelligence reports about the presence of militants in the Badan area, continued over two days, according to residents who confirmed sustained movement by security forces.
Local sources claimed the militants were using a mosque built for refugees as a hideout. The ISPR did not immediately issue a statement on the Bajaur operation.
Leaders of the Bajaur Aman Jirga staged a demonstration in the Umary area on Saturday evening, demanding that authorities avoid harm to civilians during operations.
In Hangu, four militants were killed in an exchange of fire in the rugged mountains on Friday evening. The operation was launched after an improvised explosive device (IED) attack that martyred SP (Operations) Asad Zubair and two guards. The SHO of the Doaba police station was injured in the ensuing action.
The area has witnessed repeated attacks attributed to the banned TTP in recent months.
