Most catches in an innings: Mohammad Nawaz 3 vs India (Sep 4)

All in a decent year for Pakistan (2 finals) in the same year but unable to cross the finish line on both occasions.

Pakistan best batter for the whole year would Suggest Rizwan by stats, but Shan did very well in the World cup.

Pakistan best bowler would seem like its Shaheen going by stats, But I feel it was Rauf personally this year.

Regardless let's see how this team fares next year.

You know you are in trouble when Rizwan has hit most sixes for you in a calendar year.

No it’s still Shaheen. Rauf was found wanting when it mattered Vs India. Final was wide open for Rauf to rip through given it was any fast bowler’s dream to bowl on that pitch that night, but he didn’t outperform Shaheen.

Rauf will go far, but all in all an average or slightly above average WC for him given the stunning form he entered the tournament in.

Looked on course for a man of the series award the way he toyed with NZ and BD in Tri series

Nobody cares about these records for 2022only one thing will be remembered Pakistan lost the final of T20Wc

Pretty much this haha the other worrying sign was also the most sixes hit in an innings was 5 by Khushdil vs Hong Kong a minnow.

Positive thing is Pakistan has become a gritty team like Maradona’s Argentina of Italia 90.

Where they did not play well even lost to minnows Cameroon and only scored 5 goals in entire world cup and Maradona scored 0 goals and was not even fully fit

5 goals in 7 matches :)

Yet muscled their way to world cup final where they lost.

Negative thing is we are losing semi finals, finals of major tournaments very regularly & it should not become a habbit as we can see how India has suffered post 2013.

Franchises need to stop with their bowling camps, the obsession with fast bowling means we’re forgetting about the other side of cricket, the batting.

How hard can it be to hold a power hitting camp…it’s the one area we desperately need to improve on ever since lala left us.

Pakistan cricket very similar to Argentina actually

So does that mean Babar is our Maradona 😀 I personally always felt Pakistan was like Italy in football, passionate friends, great players but on their day can beat anyone and at the same time can lose to anyone as well.

No one will care about those records only be remembered that Pakistan made into Asia Cup Final and World T20 Final in 2022 despite having big issues with their batting.
So a good year for mid table team like Pakistan, with room for improvement (captaincy and batting).

Obviously, people will remember the Asia cup and world t20 (and rightly so) tournaments is when it matters the most, however it is also important to see how the team did as a whole, and interesting to see how they did before both tournaments took place as well. I feel Pakistan as a whole did not build up the correct squad for both tourneys (referring more to middle order).

Looking at the yearly record gives you a bigger picture and puts things into more perspective, at least that is how I feel.

It's been a pretty good year. Won the tri series against New Zealand and Bangladesh. Asia cup final. World T20 final. That's not bad. The only bad series was the England one, and even then it was a close loss.

Close?

We should have lost 7-0

Close?

We should have lost 7-0

But we didn’t we lost it just 4-3. 4-3 is close. Theoretical results mean nothing really. And I think that is an exaggeration, we chased one of the games down without even losing we wicket.

Pakistan is the only team that can run England close in t20s right now. There, I said it.

Even with our many flaws as a batting line up, this is the truth. Final was the same thing where England were a bit luckier and won

You forgot mention series win In NZ.
Now its not something big but still an achievement.

If Mark Wood and Topley played all the matches 6-1 was a likely result.

Minnow mentality .....

Lol

Australia and India can beat them. Stop over hyping our team. We saw the nikka jakath mentality of our team in the 2 finals this year.

Pakistan team take T20Is too seriously. Last 2 years I can understand as there were 2 back to back WT20s but even before that they used to play their starting line up even against weak teams in bilateral games if I remember correctly.

In a way I think it helped them gel well which we saw in both tournaments were Pakistan performed very well in the overall context.

However in the long run it impacts especially 2 or 3 format players with fitness issues and also form issues as it can speed up burnout.
