Pakistan secure a tense 5 wicket victory in the historic one-off Test match against Ireland

Well done to the Irish. Respect!

For all the wrist cutters around here, personally good to see the Pakistan team given a real outing so they can now go back to the think thank and regroup (and hopefully drop dead weights like Rahat and maybe fly in an extra seamer from Pakistan)...

Crap as in, tuk tuk?

Yes. Nervous, confused and barely middling anything. The drop catch made him realize that he has to get out of his shell if he is to score. I hope this is the start of something, he cannot survive in Test cricket if he decides to bat like Azhar and Shafiq. He is better than both, and he needs to play like he plays ODIs.

Ireland at home, playing their first test match, experienced first class bowlers used to the conditions..

All in all this has been very good preparation for our series against England.

A win is a win...

Well done lads

Very good post. I watched first innings of Irish bowlin and Murtagh and Johnston were very good moving the ball at both ways with good control. No way it was substandard bowling.

I think the water is spilling out of your glass now.

Just be honest and objective for a change.
We played Imam, Haris, Babar, Faheem, Shadab etc, hardly any experience.
This Irish team in their own conditions vs a young pak team produced a great test match.

Its not as if an all time great PAK side was playing.

Didn't the 'ATG' team lose to Zimbabwe by an innings? Perspective :13:

But remember also that Ireland were 70/7 in their first innings chasing 310. That they came so close to winning after that is what should really hurt Pakistan.

Everyone missing the main point which is Test cricket won today...still the ultimate format for every cricketer and associate nations...

No, you are confusing me with someone else.

I said that there is no way that "Ireland" can win this match, simply because they do have the experience to compete over five days, and that is exactly what has happened.

I have been adamant all the way that there is no way Pakistan can lose this game. We are awful and Ireland have played well, but an Irish win was never in question.

Kaash mai aapke woh posts quote kr skta.

Massive respect to Ireland. It was a good contest between a #7 side and a debuting #11. Things would be different if they didn't have an early collapse.

Too soon and unfair to eject people, but Rahat has to go. Faheem couldn't find much penetration against a brand new team of grandads in mostly helpful conditions, so he isn't good enough to play as a specialist bowler and half-century aside, he or Sarfraz or Shadab aren't good enough to bat at 6 against proper opposition.

We need bowlers that can take wickets and Faheem/Rahat haven't given a sign that they are good enough for that against Ireland, much less England at home.

That would be enough changes and more would be too many.

Saad in for Faheem, Hasan in for Rahat.

Batsmen who can score runs, bowlers who can taken wickets. It's not a difficult rule to follow.

and why should it hurt the pak team?
Pakistan is a HUGE name in cricket but this team is very young and has almost no experience. in fact winning from 14/3 will give them great confidence.

Imam was the main bat and he made his DEBUT.

Congrats to both teams; PAK obviously for edging past it, but Ireland as well, for their debut, for hosting such a wonderful Test, and for competing till end, that too after following on.

Well done, great Test.

Ramiz regurgitating the usual generic rubbish. Glad he won't be commentating in the England series.

Agreed.

The thing about Rameez is that since his fights with MoYo on TV, his judgment of batsmen's techniques and how they 'should' play after they get beaten makes his commentary a bit funnier.

congratulations to both the teams. well played Ireland, and Pakistan not convincing but congrats on a victory anyways. Need to improve to beat England though.

Unconvincing against a very average side. The batting struggled again not getting enough runs. Had we been made to chase 50 more would have lost the match. Congrats to Ireland for putting on a good show in their first match. Now can we please drop the useless Rahat Ali for goodness sake. I can't stand watching him bowl.
