6 down for 55 for Bangladesh A.

The sad reality is that guys like Khurram , Imran and Jahandad would have struggled to get in to our any FC teams in the 90s and early 2000s. Just shows how our domestic cricket has fallen.

Apart from two Ws and Akhtar we had monster pacers in our domestic cricket with 400+ FC wickets and good pace. (not 150k but consistent above 140k with deadly accuracy and stamina in 4 day games)

Now we have guys like him and Dhani and M.Ali whos trundle in the early to mid 130ks and are made of glass with no stamina to bowl longer spells and play consistent 4 day games.

Sahibzada Farhan's poor show continues. gone for a duck.

Pak Shaheens 7/1.

Pacers lead Shaheens to victory in second 50-over match

Darwin, 6 August 2024:

A strong bowling performance from the pace attack helped Pakistan Shaheens register an eight-wicket win over Bangladesh ‘A’ in the 50-over match on Tuesday at the DXC Arena in Darwin.

Shaheens achieved the 79-run target in 17 overs as Usman Khan top-scored with 39 not out off 45 balls with the help of five fours and one six. Tayyab Tahir returned undefeated on 17 runs off 36 balls, hitting one boundary.

Usman shared a 48-run second-wicket stand with Faseeh and an unbeaten 27-run third-wicket partnership with Tayyab to take Shaheens over the line. Sahibzada Farhan copped a seven-ball duck as he fell prey to Ripon Mondol in the second over.

Mondol was the lone wicket-taker for Bangladesh ‘A’ as he dismissed the Shaheens opening batters.

Earlier, after opting to bowl first, the Pakistan Shaheens pacers ran riot with the new ball striking at regular intervals. Khurram Shahzad dismissed Tanzid Hasan and Akbar Ali while Mohammad Imran Jnr struck from the other end to dismiss Jishan Alam, Parvez Hossain and Afif Hossain within the batting powerplay.

The fast-bowling duo left Bangladesh ‘A’ in deep trouble at 32-5 after 9.4 overs. Only Parvez, the top scorer, managed to enter double figures (19, 30b, 2x4s, 1x6) among the top five batters.

Mahfuzur Rahman (12, 26b, 2x4s) and Shamim Hossain (13, 23b, 1x4) stitched a 21-run partnership before the wickets started falling again as the Bangladesh ‘A’ lost their last five scalps for a mere 25 runs. Mubasir Khan dismissed Mahfuzur and Abu Haider Rony (10, 16b, 1x6) in the 16th and 20th overs, respectively.

Jahandad Khan soon joined the wicket-takers column by eking out Shamim Hossain (13, 23b, 1x4) and Ripon Mondol in 21st over. Rakibul Hasan (5 not out, 9b, 1x4) and Mukidul Islam (3, 17b) added 10 runs for the last wicket before Arafat Minhas dismissed the latter as Bangladesh ‘A’ were bundled out for 78 in 24.3 overs.

Imran Jnr bagged three scalps while Khurram, Jahandad and Mubasir picked up two wickets each. Arafat had a solitary wicket to his name.

Pakistan Shaheens will play their first match in Top End T20 series against Perth Scorchers on 10 August.

Scores in brief

Pakistan Shaheens won by eight wickets

Bangladesh ‘A’ 78 all out, 24.3 overs (Parvez Hossain 19, Shamim Hossain 13; Mohammad Imran Jnr 3-22, Mubasir Khan 2-9, Jahandad Khan 2-19, Khurram Shahzad 2-24, Arafat Minhas 1-3)

Pakistan Shaheens 79-2, 17 overs (Usman Khan 39 not out, Tayyab Tahir 17 not out; Ripon Mondol 2-30)

The credit goes to bowling. Brilliant stuff from Imran and Khurram. Usman played a good inning of 39 to make it easy in the end for Shaheens.

This series doesn't test our players.

But khair good to see usman Khan gaining some confidence atleast although ik for a fact he doesn't have the technique and talent to succeed.

Good to see Haris captaining and Tayyab smashing it at 4

he later become a trundler but was a consistent 140k bowler in his prime and Abdur Rauf was a consistent 145k bowler in his prime with an ability to hit 150k+
This. People overhype the past way too much.

Fazal was around 135 kph but nothing spectacular at the highest level.

Elite pace bowlers were rare even then
Pace alone is no measure of quality. Being able to bowl at great pace is a rare ability however just being fast does not make a quality bowler, you need control, swing, variations and a mind that can out think the batters. Look at Mohd Sami's career and Haris Rauf's struggles now. Also Glenn McGrath & Mohd Asif were both great pace bowlers but were not express pace.

Don't rope Khurram in the same category. He is a proper bowler was highest wicket taker in domestic. While he does not bowl 90mph. It does mean he is an ineffective bowler. He showed his class in Australia.

The guy literally trapped Steve Smith twice in a Test match. Any bowler that can do this has something in him.

Don't think any of our current domestic red ball bowlers have the stamina to play 5 FC games on the trot in alien conditions without getting injured or losing their pace , Khurram definitely doesn't have the stamina to become a consistent member of our test team as he was bowling in the mid 120ks and then got injured.

It was evident in this tour when two of our red bowl bowlers ends up getting injured , bowling long spells in AUS requires proper fitness.

Kashif and Dahani doesn't possess that stamina either , only Muhammad Ali is a proper FC bowler who can get success in foreign conditions.
