PM Shehbaz urges UN to sanction Israel, halt 'genocidal war' in Gaza

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif called on the United Nations Security Council to end Israel’s “genocidal war” against Palestine and impose sanctions, during the “Leadership for Peace” debate on Wednesday.

“We must compel Israel to halt its genocidal war in Gaza and prevent its attempt to provoke a wider conflict in the Middle East,” he stated. “It is time to consider sanctions against Israel, including an arms and trade embargo.” He maintained that holding Israel’s leadership accountable for crimes against Palestinians is necessary.

Sharif urged the Security Council to craft an impartial ceasefire plan and a peaceful solution to the Ukraine war, emphasizing the need to avoid further escalation.

The conflict, sparked by a Hamas attack on October 7, 2023 in response to deteriorating conditions for Palestinians, has since claimed over 43,000 lives, including women and children, according to Palestinian health officials.

World bodies, including the International Court of Justice, have condemned Israel’s occupation and criticized the war’s disproportionate civilian casualties, especially those in hospitals and residential areas.

PM Shehbaz also brought attention to the ongoing situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, saying, “The Council must call for a halt to the massive violations of the fundamental rights of the Kashmiri people and implement its resolutions that demand a plebiscite for self-determination in Kashmir.”

He also raised concerns over regional security, particularly the resurgence of terrorism in Afghanistan, mentioning Da'ish and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, and called for a global commitment to reverse the arms race, reaffirming Pakistan's cooperation.

Pakistan stages walkout as Netanyahu takes podium after Shehbaz’s speech at UNGA

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, following his address to the United Nations General Assembly, led a walkout in protest as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was invited to speak. The Pakistani delegation joined him in exiting the session.

Sharif, after finishing his speech, had returned to his seat when Netanyahu was called to the podium. The walkout served as a strong gesture of dissent from Pakistan, marking it as the only nation to formally protest Israel's actions in this manner during the session.

In his address, Sharif condemned Israel's ongoing bombardment of Gaza, labelling it a "genocidal war" and a humanitarian disaster. He painted a grim picture of the suffering endured by Palestinian civilians, particularly women and children, and called for an immediate end to the violence.

“Our hearts bleed as we witness the tragedy unfolding in the Holy Land,” Sharif said. "This is not just a conflict; it is the systematic slaughter of innocent people and an assault on the very essence of human life and dignity.”

He urged the international community to stop the bloodshed and work toward a lasting peace, advocating for a two-state solution with a sovereign Palestinian state based on the pre-1967 borders and East Jerusalem (Al-Quds Al-Sharif) as its capital.

“Can we remain silent while children lie buried under the rubble of their homes? The blood of Gaza’s children stains the hands not just of the oppressors but also of those complicit in prolonging this cruel conflict,” Sharif stated emphatically.

Sharif also demanded that Palestine be admitted as a full member of the United Nations, stressing the urgent need for action to safeguard Palestinian lives.

For three days, global leaders at the General Assembly session have condemned the atrocities in Palestine, urging an end to Israeli aggression. Pakistan's walkout was the most notable protest recorded during Netanyahu's address, further amplifying the call for justice in Gaza.

Credit where due Pakistani Establishment easily keeps fooling their awam since 1950s, staging a walkout it seems, just boycott Israeli products and money, Pakistanis paying interest rate to IMF is the reason for them being powerful.

PM Shehbaz calls for immediate halt to Gaza bloodshed at UNGA address

NEW YORK (Dunya News) - Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif raised the issue of Gaza war and called for an immediate end to the systematic slaughterig of the Palestinians in his speech at the 79th session of United Nations General Assembly.

At the outset of his speech, the premier said it was “great honour” for him to address the UNGA for the second time as the PM of Pakistan.

Mentioning the flurry of challenges faced by the world as a whole, the PM said, “Today, we face the most daunting challenges to the world order: Israel’s genocidal war in Gaza, a dangerous conflict in Ukraine, destructive conflicts across Africa and Asia, rising geopolitical tensions, resurging terrorism, galloping poverty, stifling debt and the mounting impact of climate change. We feel the chill of a new world order,” he said.

He said he would express “the searing pain and anguish of Pakistanis at the plight of Gazans. Our heart bleeds as we witness the tragedy unfolding in the holy land. A tragedy that shakes the very conscience of humanity and the foundation of this institution.”

He asked whether the world could afford to remain silent while “children lie buried under the rubble of their shattered homes and can we turn a blind eye to the mothers cradling the lifeless bodies of the children as this is not just a conflict, this is a systematic slaughter of innocent Palestinians. An assault on the very essence of human life and dignity, the blood of Gazan children stains not just the hands of the oppressors but all those complicit in prolonging this cruel conflict.”

On the Kashmir issue, the PM said India's policy of brutal coercion and oppression has ensured that Burhan Wani's legacy continues to inspire the struggle and sacrifices of millions of Kashmiris.

He added India has never agreed to implement the UNSC resolution to hold plebiscite in Kashmir while adding since 2019, matters have taken a turn for worse after the abrogation of Article 370 as the valley was deprived of its special status and oppression was made normal.

He also made it clear that it should be stated 'in no uncertain terms' that any Indian misadventure would be responded in the most decisive manner by Pakistan.

On terrorism, he said Pakistan has been facing a new wave of terrorism, funded largely by hostile foreign nations and groups.

On Climate change, the premier remarked Pakistan has been paying a heavy price to the issue despite contributing insigificantly to carbon emissions.

"This is most unfair in any calculus of global justice," he said.

Earlier, at her weekly news briefing in Islamabad on Thursday, Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said the Prime Minister would raise the issues of international concern including the question of Palestine and Jammu and Kashmir dispute at the world forum.

The spokesperson added Pakistan would continue to highlight the importance of resolution of Jammu and Kashmir dispute for lasting peace and stability in South Asia.

She said Pakistan has repeatedly called on the UN to use its good offices for implementation of the UN Security Council resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir and for ensuring the right of self-determination of Kashmiri people.

Pakistan dispatches 10th relief consignment for Gaza

Pakistan, on Sunday, dispatched its 10th relief consignment, consisting of medical items, for the people of Palestine, Gaza, said Foreign Office spokesperson.

The sending-off ceremony occurred at Karachi International Airport, where the relief items were loaded onto a chartered freighter aircraft, an A300, destined for Amman, Jordan.

From there, the aid will be transferred to Gaza. The 10th relief consignment consisted of 40 tons of essential medicines, aimed at providing much-needed medical support to the people of Gaza.

This initiative underscores Pakistan’s commitment to supporting humanitarian causes and providing aid to those in need. The ceremony was graced by the presence of MNA Dr. Darshan, representatives from NDMA, and officials from Alkhidmat Foundation, who collectively emphasized the importance of solidarity and support in times of crisis.

NDMA has sent total relief of 1151 tons for war ravaged people of Gaza including this current consignment.

Earlier, the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) approved special permission for medical and dental students from Gaza to complete their education in Pakistan.

According to a spokesperson, the decision was made at the request of the Pakistani High Commissioner in London.

A special committee has been formed to oversee the education of these students, with the President of PMDC as its head. Representatives from the Ministries of Health and Foreign Affairs will also be part of the committee.

The PMDC president said that it is expected that around 100 medical and dental students from Gaza will come to Pakistan, with the first group of 20-30 students arriving soon.

The students will be adjusted in Pakistani medical and dental colleges, and the committee will ensure the smooth completion of their education, he added.

Its worth mentioning here that the Israel’s brutal war in Gaza has so far taken the lives of over 42,000 people since October 7 when Hamas fighter attacked Israel.

Pakistan to observe Palestine Solidarity Day

The federal government has decided to observe October 7 as Palestine Solidarity Day and hold all parties conference (APC), reaffirming the country’s unwavering support for the Palestinian people.

Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif, President Asif Ali Zardari, and representatives of all political parties will attend the APC,

The decision was taken in a meeting between PM Shahbaz Sharif, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman.

A committee has also been established to organise events and activities on October 7. The committee comprises Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Sherry Rehman, Saad Rafique and Nayer Bukhari.

Nationwide gatherings, seminars, and rallies will be held across Pakistan to express solidarity with Palestine and condemn Israeli violence.

Bilawal Bhutto said that the ongoing violence in Gaza threatens regional stability. “We must unite against imperialist and Zionist agendas,” he added

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also hailed President Asif Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for attending the all-parties conference, demonstrating their commitment to the Palestinian cause.

The meeting also praised Jamaat-e-Islami’s stance in solidarity with the innocent Palestinians in Gaza and Palestine.

Need some clarity, while The Sunni countries are all words in support of Palestine. Its only the Shias that are ready to fight on actual ground against Israel. Why this divide among the Islamic support for Palestine?

Hamas and Islamic brotherhood are a threat to Arab monarchies. Supporting Hamas means supporting their own demise. Arab nations are not stupid to do that. No Arab nation wants an Islamic revolution like what Iran had that will wipe out monarchies in the Arabian peninsula.

You need to educate your self on the Greater israel plan, perhaps then you will realise, Hamas, Hezbollah are the bogeymen used to drive their satanic actions forward to expand their illegal occupation. When the reality is, Hamas and Hezbollah are freedom fighters.

You need to come out of your Us vs Them mentality.

Hamas and Hezbollah are there purely to destroy Israel. Not for any defense.

The more these people fight, the more land they lose.

Wise thing to do is, give up hopes of destruction of Israel, stop fighting and accept a 2 state solution.

After Oct 7, 2023, even the 2 state solution ship seems to have sailed.
The Arab world never accepted the 1947 partition and declared war on Israel and after losing multiple times in terms of lives, resources and land.
decades later, they want the partition plan they themselves rejected unanimously.

Like I said. GREATER ISRAEL PROJECT.
Israel has a right to exist. One can't easily out do a modern nation state now that it's established. Similarly Palestinians have right to peacefully exists too. Hamas should have accepted a two state solution with a written assurance regarding this Zionist concept of greater israel.

And Arabs rejected the partition proposal in 1947 and fought the Zionists who had agreed with the plan.
Arabs lost, now please explain. Arabs fought again and lost again .. and this repeated several times and Palestinians continually lost land which is something that can happen when you lose wars.

No point in crying over spilled milk. Israel won the land by war. They are not going to give it back to Arabs.

Wisest thing for Arab nations to do is to absorb the Palestinian population into their countries. Rich Arab nations needs large work force. Instead of importing from South Asia who do not understand Arabic, its wiser to import Palestinians who follow same religion and language. Win-Win for both Arab nations and Palestinians.

It's time to open a separate thread titled 'Pakistan Stands with Hezbollah.' People in Pakistan, who don’t even know where Lebanon is or who Nasrallah is, are protesting and showing their support for the extremist organization Hezbollah.

"Praising Pakistan as a brave nation, he suggested that if Israel faced resistance from Pakistan, the perpetration of cruelty could cease. Expressing hope in Pakistan's support, he referred to the country as a land of Mujahideen."

Since then.

Surprise surprise Arab countries don't want Palestinian refugee's.. Only Pakistan can save them imo allow them into Pakistan one's that can make it to Pak that is.

This is about the Ummah now. Converts can show the custodians the right way.

Evidently Pakistan and Pakistani awaam perspective is that they are OK as long as it is someone else's child or family killed or maimed.

But Allah forbid if they have to shed blood, put skin in the game.

Special duplicitous mention of Pakistani diaspora having UK/NA passports or ME citizenship.

They are loudest and meekest. Demonstrating hypocrisy by actually funding Israeli armaments. Pity these fools.

A multi-party conference (MPC) on Monday, without the PTI in attendance, vowed all-out support for Gaza and demanded an immediate ceasefire a year after the catastrophic Israeli invasion that has killed over 41,900 Palestinians

The fighting in Gaza was triggered when Hamas fighters entered southern Israel on October 7, 2023, killing 1,200 people and taking about 250 as hostages, according to Israeli tallies. More than 100 hostages remain held by Hamas.

Israel’s subsequent military assault on Gaza has killed nearly 42,000 Palestinians, according to the territory’s health ministry. It has triggered global condemnation, calls for a ceasefire and legal proceedings against Israel in the International Criminal Court and the International Court of Justice.

On Friday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif gave his assurance during a meeting with PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari and Jamaat-i-Islami Emir Hafiz Naeemur Rehman that the government would host an MPC to condemn the Israeli atrocities in the Middle East.

The MPC was held at the President’s House in Islamabad and was attended by President Asif Ali Zardari, PM Shehbaz, Senate Chairman Yousuf Raza Gilani, federal cabinet ministers and senior political leaders, including PML-N President Nawaz Sharif, Bilawal, Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Hafiz Naeem, among others.

However, no PTI leaders were in attendance.

Reading it out in full, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said, “We express our unwavering support for the inalienable right of the people of Palestine to self-determination and for the relevant OIC and UN resolutions on Palestine that call for the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the occupied Palestinian Territories and a peaceful and negotiated solution to the conflict.

“The declarations assure the people of Palestine of all parties’ unwavering support for achieving the right of self-determination and unequivocally condemn the ongoing Israeli aggression in Palestine in the strongest terms,” Dar read.

“The declaration demands an immediate ceasefire and the end of aggression in Gaza,” he read. “We also demand the immediate, unimpeded provision of humanitarian aid and to hold Israel accountable for violations of international law, war crimes and genocide.

“All parties support political and diplomatic efforts for peace and stability by the OIC, Arab League and other international organisations,” the resolution continued.

“We call on OIC to convene an emergency summit to discuss the situation in Palestine, Israel’s brutal aggression in the region and its implications for the regional peace and security and underscores the need for unity in the Islamic Ummah.

“Pakistan will increase and redouble efforts to deliver political, diplomatic, moral and humanitarian support,” the resolution stated.

It added that Pakistan had dispatched 10 consignments of humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza and medical relief for the people of Lebanon.

“Pakistan supports an independent Palestinian state with Al-Quds Sharif (Jerusalem) as its capital,” Dar said.

He also called for Palestine’s full membership at the UN

President Zardari expresses concern at escalation of tension

President Zardari expressed deep concerns over the growing Israeli adventurism in the region and escalation of tension, calling for the international community’s role to take swift action to restore peace and prevent conflict from spilling over.

The president said that during the last year, the Israeli occupation forces had killed over 41,800 Palestinians, besides destroying infrastructure.

He pointed out that Israel had even expanded its relentless attacks to target Lebanon, Syria and Yemen and endangered regional and global peace and security.

He said that regrettably, the international community had failed to stop Israel from committing genocide against the Palestinian population, specifically in Gaza, and also questioned the prevailing situation of impunity.

A chairing a review meeting in Islamabad regarding the government’s relief efforts for the people of Gaza, the prime minister said that Pakistan will not leave the Muslims of Palestineand Lebanon alone in their time of adversity.

He also appealed to the public to help their Palestinian brothers and sisters, requesting them especially affluent ones, to generously donate to this fund.

To support their Palestinian and Lebanese brothers and sisters, Pakistanis inside and outside the country can deposit donations to the account:

The prime minister said in the wake of the winter season, Pakistan would send more tents and blankets for the Muslim brothers and sisters affected by Israeli atrocities and aggression in Palestine, Gaza, and Lebanon. An additional 3,000 tents and 12,000 blankets will be sent to Palestine and Lebanon.

PM Shehbaz directed Pakistan’s ambassadors in neighboring countries to report on the required number of tents and blankets. He said Pakistan is also sending food and medicines for the Muslim brothers and sisters facing Israeli oppression. He also condemned Israel’s obstruction of aid to Palestinians.

The prime minister commended the role of NGOs, cooperating in government efforts to help Palestinians and Lebanese. He stressed that there should be no compromise on the quality of the relief goods sent to Palestine and Lebanon, ensuring that the tents are fireproof. He instructed Pakistani diplomats in neighboring countries to ensure the timely and efficient delivery of relief items being sent by the government of Pakistan.

I’m sorry but enrolling a few dozen students means nothing given the situation.

Just goes to show that the concept of Islamic ummah is just fake

Pakistan praises UN report condemning Israeli actions in Palestine

Pakistan has welcomed the latest report from UN Special Rapporteur on Palestine, Francesca Albanese, which criticises Israel for implementing a systematic agenda of forced displacement, destruction, and genocide in Gaza and the West Bank.

During her weekly news briefing in Islamabad, Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch stated that the report underscores Israel's acts of genocide against the Palestinian people through territorial expansion and ethnic cleansing.

She endorsed Albanese's stance, highlighting Israel's obstruction of international investigation efforts and the denial of entry to UN fact-finding teams.

Baloch called on the international community to take decisive action to end Israel's “unbridled atrocities” against Palestinians, ensure unhindered humanitarian assistance to Gaza, and provide full financing and protection to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA).

The spokesperson expressed concern regarding Israeli actions against relief workers and agencies, including UNRWA, as well as the ongoing attacks on hospitals and vaccination centres.

In response to questions about Pakistan-US relations, Baloch noted that both the President and Prime Minister have congratulated President-elect Donald Trump on his victory.

She reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to strengthening its longstanding relationship with the United States, based on mutual respect and non-interference in domestic affairs.

Addressing a recent resolution passed by the Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir Assembly calling for the restoration of special status, Baloch reiterated Pakistan's position on the Indian occupation.

She emphasised that the future of Jammu and Kashmir should be determined by its people and reaffirmed that the region is an internationally recognised disputed territory.

Baloch stated that India must respect the right to self-determination for the Kashmiri people as enshrined in relevant UN Security Council resolutions and cannot suppress their aspirations through coercive measures.

Pakistan reiterates demand to halt Palestinians’ genocide

Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s demand for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire in Gaza and lifting of the blockade against Gaza to ensure prompt delivery of food, water, electricity, and medical aid.

In his address to the Extraordinary Arab-Islamic Summit in Riyadh on Monday, the prime minister stressed the need to implement a resolution passed by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) following the landmark advisory decision by the International Court of Justice.

PM Shehbaz also called for a comprehensive review of Israel’s membership in the UN. He said the humanitarian catastrophe has escalated to an unimaginable degree, citing Israel’s tyranny in Gaza.
He said that for more than a year, the occupied Palestinian territory—especially Gaza—has been plunged into a never-ending state of gloom and misery, with families split apart, houses destroyed, and lives lost.

He asked how long mankind should ignore hospitals being destroyed as wounded mothers clutched their children’ dead bodies. PM Shehbaz Sharif said that the International Court of Justice and the media have correctly classified these crimes against the Palestinian people as genocide. Israel has been blatantly violating every moral rule with every day that goes along.

PM Shehbaz said that the world’s passivity and inactivity have given Israel more confidence as houses and their occupants are being blown up, and humanity’s repeated demands for a truce, unimpeded humanitarian aid, and civilian protection are being completely disregarded.

He said that Israel continues to get the most advanced armaments, which is unquestionably a sign of support and protection. The prime minister said that international humanitarian rules that were designed to protect the weak have been completely destroyed.

The way Pakistan stands with America and Zionist regimes only the P of Pakistan stands for Palestine right now.

President, PM reiterate support for Palestinians’ right to self-determination on solidarity day

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday reaffirmed their support for Palestinians’ inalienable right to self-determination, state-run Radio Pakistan reported.

In 1977, the United Nations General Assembly called for the observance of November 29 as the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.

This is the second year that the day was being observed under the shadow of Israel’s devastating onslaught on Gaza ongoing for more than 13 months.

In retaliation to Hamas’s Oct 7, 2023 attacks, Israel’s military offensive has killed more than 44,300 Palestinians and injured nearly 105,000 — with the death toll feared to be much higher due to thousands still missing under the rubble.

President Zardari strongly condemned unabated Israel’s aggression in Gaza and demanded an end to the “genocide of Palestinian people”.

“The global conscience cannot ignore the plight of millions who face unprecedented hardships due to Israeli occupation. We believe that the continued occupation and disregard for international law is the biggest obstacle to achieving peace in the region,” he said, according to APP.

“We stand in solidarity with the resilient people of Palestine in their rightful struggle for freedom, dignity, and justice,” the president asserted.

Zardari highlighted that over the past year, Israeli actions were in “blatant violation” of international humanitarian law, stating: “Let this day serve as a powerful reminder of our shared responsibility to ensure justice and equality for the Palestinian people.

“Pakistan stands resolute in its support for Palestine and remains committed to supporting the inalienable rights of the Palestinians to self-determination.”

In his message, PM Shehbaz said Palestinians had been “bravely enduring a campaign of unending genocidal violence”.

He noted that Israel has so far claimed the lives of thousands of Palestinians in Gaza.

On the occasion, UN Chief Antonio Guterres also expressed his support for the Palestinian people.

“The UN will continue to stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people and their inalienable rights to live in peace, security and dignity,” he stated in a post on X.

Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch reiterated “unwavering solidarity and support” for the Palestinian people and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

Addressing a press briefing in Islamabad, Baloch welcomed the ceasefire agreement in Lebanon, where Israel had launched a ground invasion on October 1.

The FO spokesperson urged “all parties to uphold the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701”, which was adopted in 2006 and calls for a full cessation of hostilities between Israel and Lebanese group Hezbollah.

“We firmly support Lebanon’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and stability. [We] stress urgent humanitarian assistance to those affected, safe return of displaced persons and reconstruction of conflicted affected areas,” she said.

Baloch further stated: “We believe this ceasefire is a critical step towards deescalating tensions and preventing a broader conflict in the region.

“Pakistan hopes that the ceasefire agreement will set the stage for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire in Gaza and other occupied Palestine territories, an end to the genocide in Gaza and humanitarian relief to the Palestinian people.”

Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch also called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and advocated for a comprehensive resolution to the Palestinian issue with the establishment of a sovereign independent state of Palestine, Radio Pakistan reported.

Speaking at the second meeting of the Global Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, which was held in Belgium, she emphasised the need for Palestine to have full membership in the UN.

Meanwhile, PPP Senator Sherry Rehman said in a post on X: “Every year on this day […] we all express solidarity for the dignity, rights, justice and self-determination of the Palestinian people.

“Today we are seeking their very survival as a genocidal occupying power is seeking colonial erasure of this people. This year is particularly painful as not only are they far from fundamental rights and statehood, but are being mercilessly persecuted on live camera,” she said.

She assailed Israel for denying Palestinians in Gaza a “ceasefire and even the humanitarian assistance they need”. “Words no longer help them. They need our support.”
