Poor start to day 1 but credit to England who bowled really well, making the ball talk esp in the first session.

A poor selection leaving out Fakhar who played a good knock in the warm up game and play international cricket in the other formats.

Pakistan need a big session to get back in this game, 4-5 wickets minimum. Tomorrow will give them this opportunity. By end of play we will know if it's game over or game on.

Am a bit cross with Cook for getting out but really could not have asked for more from England after their dreadful Lord’s failure.

This side looks stronger than the Lord’s squad even without Stokes.

Good response from the bowlers. Need to keep chipping away. They were constantly threatening the batsmen. If they keep this up, they'll find that chink in the armour to pierce into.

Man...we had a great chance to win a test series in England but looks like we have blown it. Getting out for less then 200 in a first innings does not win you much test matches abroad. This team has surprised me already. I am hoping they can do it again in a positive way

England dominated the day, hard to see Pakistan getting back into when you get rolled out cheaply.

However 174 was not that bad considering they were 80/7 at one stage.

Tomorrow’s first session will be critical - Pakistan need to get 4 wickets then they are back in it.

Otherwise England will get 100 run lead and then can’t see Pak getting back into it.

Root is still there and with 4 days left they MAY bat till lunch on the 3rd day (hope not). If that happens .... they will not have to bat again ... darn !!!

I'm expecting a root 100 and even a Bess 50 tomorrow. Not expecting us to take a single wicket in the morning session tomorrow. Came home and watched the highlights, our bowlers bowled line and lengths that were completely different to how they were bowling at lord's. Also when we did bowl line and length it did absolutely nothing off the wicket. I'm not expecting that to change tbh regardless of the weather tomorrow. The north isn't for Pakistan.

I don't think pakistan played bad, it's just that luck wasn't with us. A bat first looking pitch swung miles while we batted, and then eased up and sun came out for England when their batsmen came out, how convenient for them. Still proud of our effort especially shadab, and hoping for a bounce back tomorrow inshallah

Now Shadab, Amir and Hasan are expected to bowl and take some wickets. How much more burden is the team going to place on these guys?
