Pakistan Super League 2017 - Discussion Thread

No interest personally in this

Last year was pretty poor

Hopefully they bring in school kids for the games like the WI series so at least someone turns up to watch

Lahore qalandars kit for this year's psl.....
HAHA, Lahore taking L's even before the season has started.:azhar2

Were not they both picked as emerging players?

pls elaborate?

There isn't a limit on playing emerging players, you can play two. The requirement is that every team has at least one emerging player in the playing XI but that doesn't mean you are limited to only one.

hasan have made debut for pakistan so he is no more in emerging category

The one emerging player is a requirement, not a limit.

Teams have to play at least one emerging player but they can play more than one too

thanks for clearance

Is Malik still at Karachi Kings and will he captain. This is the most interesting issue pre PSL season 2 for me. Malik uncharacteristically was poor last season, and I imagine a lot of karachi fans and management are disappointed especially since it looked Karachi had the strongest team last time, and many I think will have wanted karachi representation this year (I'm sure Karachi would have loved Sarfraz in for example).

Yet on the other side Malik's been such a dominant player, you don't really want him playing against you, and he's had a stranglehold on these domestic T20 competitions most of his life. So it will be interesting to see whether they'll go for a second chance for Malik to captain or try someone else captaining.

They've already announced sangakkara as captain

ah I see so they went away from Malik. Is he still going to play as player? Feel that's a shame it's a Pakistani tournament, I feel all the players with captaincy experence should be captaining. Malik, Misbah, Afridi, Hafeez, Sarfraz all should be captaining IMO. With a few younger vice captains in the team who will take over those teams eventually.

Malik's role is apparently player and "team adviser" for KK.

The issue apparently with Malik was that he was playing too many Stallion players, and they were not perfroming either. So the Karachi media and ex players got on his back so much that he was removed from captaincy last season, Bopara captained in the last game. he might still be their icon but not have blanket authority.

Peshawar zalmi new kit:
The new look team shirt carries the same colour theme as of previous editions – Yellow and Blue – but there is a slight change in the designs and use of Dri-FIT fabric, designed by Nike.“Dri-FIT is a high-performance, microfiber, polyester fabric that moves sweat away from the body and to the fabric surface, where it evaporates. As a result, Dri-FIT keeps athletes dry and comfortable,” the manufacturers’ say about the technology.
I think indian team also wears NIKE Dri-FIT jersey

Wow Peshawar was able to snag Nike as their kit sponsor??

That is impressive indeed.

Looking forward to the start of the competition and the banter amongst the fans of other franchises on this forum.

1400 PSL Trophy unveiling at Dubai Sports City

Each of the five sides will be involved in a double-leg round-robin league thereby playing eight games each. The top four teams will then qualify for the playoffs wherein the first-ranked team at the end of the league stage will take on the second-placed side in the first playoff. The second playoff will see the third and the fourth ranked side take on each other before the losing team from the first playoff faces the winning team from the second playoff. The PSL between the winner of the first playoff and the third playoff will be held in Lahore on March 5 after the Pakistan Cricket Board confirmed that it will be played in Pakistan.

Who are the emerging or new young players in these teams?? - Most of these players are TTFs

I don't want to see millions of left arm spinners and 90-100 SR batsmen who cannot play pace again this year... Hafeez, Malik, Sarfraz, Misbah, Kamran, Afridi, Iftikhar, Latif very depression to see all these TTFs and they will be dominating the PSL, no wonder we are no 8 team

Hussain talat is very good batsmen and handy fast bowler .Amad butt 135+ bowler and can bat a bit .khushdil shah is very good left hand attacking batsmen
about others i donot know

This is reason why i like qalandars they have selected emerging players through proper process and they have good core of young talent while other teams have selected just to fill the emerging players list

Im seeing most of the good overseas players are supplementary players.
Arebthese the ones who will only come in when someone leaves the squad?

Samuels, perera etc

What i want to see desperately is some hitter who can bowl a few tidy overs to emerge. Sad that hammad isnt there as i still feel he is the best bet. Ghulam is also a big miss. Hope is now on Yamin or Hussain talat. Thats if they get a game. Ammad butt is another but he is more a bowling allrounder.

Is there a possibility of the tournament being canceled?

Really not interested in this tournament anymore

Great stuff. I've always wanted reviews in a T20.

Prolonging the match by a couple of minutes doesn't harm anyone.

Change of plans: Ali Zafar to perform at PSL closing ceremony

KARACHI: Upon request of relevant authorities and insistence of fans, singer-actor Ali Zafar has taken back his decision of not performing at the PSL closing ceremony in Lahore. “Since I’ve been extensively busy with my first Pakistani film Teefa in Trouble, my performance wasn’t in the plan but when I saw the fans disappointed, I left everything and made myself available to live this moment. It’s a big day for me. For my country. I hope all goes well and we make history and show the world what we are capable of,” Zafar told The Express Tribune. He will be performing free of charge.

Zafar further said that he owes everything to Pakistan and its people. “No matter where my work takes me in the world, Pakistan has always been home for me. A home that’s given me more than I could ever dream of. The growing love and respect of my people, is an inspiration big enough to leave everything and be there among the people singing for them. Specially the song whose lyrics I penned visualising this very moment where cricket would come back home. “Phir siti bajay gi, stage sajay ga, aur tali bajay gi, ab khel Jammay ga. ”

Zafar had to clear the air about his performance because he had earlier said that he will not be performing at the closing ceremony. “Contrary to the news, I won’t be performing at the PSL closing ceremony. It is indeed a big moment, hope we get to celebrate in safety,” Ali tweeted on Friday.

In another earlier post, the Channo hit-maker had stated the reason why he will be missing out from the match being played between Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators. “Unfortunately, I am stuck with a shooting schedule for a film. But lots of love and prayers,” the Kill Dill actor wrote on Twitter.
