DRS system to feature in all PSL 2018 matches

Lahore- February 13, 2018: The PCB is organizing a two-day Workshop (February 13-14, 2018) on the Decision Review System (DRS) for Umpires & Match Referees commencing from today at the NCA. Mr. Denis Burns, Umpires Coach, International Cricket Council (ICC), will conduct the workshop.

Pakistan Super League (PSL) third edition is scheduled to commence in UAE from February 22, 2018. It may be recalled that the Decision Review System (DRS) was used for the first time in T20 matches during the 2017 PSL. With the ICC Standard Playing Conditions for T20 matches now having adopted DRS for T20 matches, the PSL's third Season will feature DRS in all matches.

Just hope there is a balance between the need for correct umpiring decisions and to keep the games flowing without too many delays in checking reviews.

We should also have snicko now - get the latest gizmos!

Snicko should definitely be part of the review process if they're using ball tracking.

I hope they do have all the equipments in place this time around in the matches to be played in Pakistan. Last year they even didn't have the speed guns for the final.

That's great news. Don't want bad umpiring decisions ruining matches.

Good news. Hopefully bad umpiring won't be a talking point and the cricket will take centre stage.

The ground atmosphere is out of the PCB hands. However the umpires they select are not. Awful umpiring in today’s game. Umar Akmals wicket was never out to the naked eye and Zamans was just a joke.

 Lahore Qalandars say that when Fakhar was given out LBW, he wanted to review it but the umpires said they don't have a review. When they dug deeper after that (by then FZ had left the field), they realised the error. (Review was retained after UA's dismissal due to umpires' call.) But it was too late.

Major blunder, unacceptable.

so it was the umpires fault afterall. makes an awful decision and then refuses the review, that's just pathetic.

If that's true, that is pathetic. Sack/suspend/fine that umpire. That's 10 times worse than making an awful lbw decision. But LQ are only saying that, doesn't mean it's true, could just be to cover their own blushes.

TBF Multan probably got 2 decisions in their favor and one against them. KP was given out off a no ball and the Shan Masood catch was inconclusive but ruled out. The one that went against them was the Rousseau catch and it was also inconclusive. I don't know what the remonstrating is for.

I don't think they should get away from the soft signal. What the should do is not publicize the soft signal. If the on-field umps think it is caught cleanly then relay that to the third umpire without the players or crowd being made aware of the decision. That will take the focus off from the umpire at least.

We've seen over the years technology is not conclusive. So the benefit of the doubt has to go somewhere.

That Robinson fellow is quite dreadful to be honest. He even gives a smirk (indicating that he didn't personally accept the decision) when told to reverse his decision by the third umpire, which has happened quite a bit already.
