I think this would be the new team I would take to international T20s given the recent PSL.
1. Rizwan
2. Fakhar (promoted due to PSL form)
3. Haris
4. Babar (demoted due to PSL/international form)
5. Iftikhar (not been impressive since the friendly match, but there's not much else)
6. Azam Khan (don't have high hopes but worth a try)
7. Imad Wasim
8. Shadab
9. Haris Rauf
10. Shaheen
11. Ihsanullah
Most will agree that Imad, Azam, Rizwan, Fakhar, have looked the best in the PSL.
Outside this cohort, Babar Azam has seen a dip in T20 form since 1-2 years whereas
M.Haris continued to show some promise although hes still not out of this world.
Iftikhar has OK performances for Pak and in this PSL.
Fakhar and Haris are natural openers and play aerial shots. They are best utilized as openers. Fakhar is having a second strong season as opener. Haris has a glaring weakness vs spin in middle overs, and if hes playing, it has to be the opening slot.
Saim Ayub, while talented needs to impress for 1 more season.
1 down batsmen needs an all round game and ability to explode. This one is between Babar and Rizwan. Overall, its very hard to choose but I will go with Rizwan because of his mental strength and the 6th gear.
In the middle you need players who can attack spin. This means Azam Khan can be super handy.
The other 2 choices are Iftikhar and Babar. The problem with Iftikhar is that he has shown a lot of promise but still hasnt cemented a spot. But since this is middle overs, we need someone who can find the gaps as its not always about going big. Id go with Babar, as lets be honest, hes good enough to develop. Babar can also be used like Aus uses Steve Smith type insurance policy.
So far we have:
Haris
Fakhar
Rizwan
Babar
Azam
Now, at 6 we need explosiveness and brain to finish up. Imad Wasim and Shadab khan fit the bill. Yes, I know Usama Mir is talented and Shadab is down, but Shadab simply is too good to pass on. Nawaz, is the better bowler vs Imad but where Pak lacks is batting.
So 6 and 7 are Imad and Shadab.
I will finalize the bowling before we get to no 8.
Bowling:
For Fast bowling, we need 5 fast bowlers and we need to rotate them for 3 spots to keep them fresh and fit. Below is the pecking order:
Shaheen.
Ihasnaullah.
Amir, Rauf.
Hasnain, Naseem.
Again, all 5/6 should be in the mix all the time as fast bowlers need to be rotated.
That means we need 1 more allrounder as we already have Imad, 3 pacers and Shadab. We need some cushion.
For spinners, we have Usama Mir and Nawaz who can contribute something with the bat.
If we need a pace bowling allrounder , then we need to look at Faheem.
Overall, Usama Mir has shown he can take the wickets and hit big. Nawaz has shown iffy temperament in tense games.
For now, here is my 11:
Haris
Fakhar
Rizwan
Babar
Azam Khan
Imad.W
Shadab (c)
Usama Mir (Faheem for SENA).
Shaheen
Rauf (rotated with Amir).
Ihsanullah
Bench: Naseem, Rauf/Amir, Cachu, Faheem / Mir
