What's new

Pakistan team management unhappy with the Fakhar Zaman run-out

Waqar should be more concerned about why Pakistan isn't producing reliable bowlers.

South Africa isn't a strong team anymore, they have a new captain and they're not a mentally strong side. Pakistan should have won these two matches comfortably. What's the point of having a player like Fakhar or players like Babar, Rizwan, Shadab and Shaheen if performances aren't translating into team victories.

Pakistan aren't a strong team either, certainly nowhere near the big three.

I already responded to him on twitter saying stop defending your team mate just for the sack of it, Accept he cheated and move, Stupid explanation by him saying he was asking for backup on non striker end when ball was thrown to striker end and KDK reaction tell the real intent.
Shamsi's a tryhard.. he got reprimanded by QdK for stopping the bowler..

Yes yes, we all know Fakhar should have taken charge of his own running. He has admitted as such.

That does not absolve QdK of being a total weasel and an enemy to the game. What a loser.

This is a problem in cricket. The game is one sided towards batsmen.

Now with the mcc ruling, its clear that maybe we deserved 7 runs there.
However, i am against this rule as it makes the game way batting friendly.

In baseball there are gimmicks like faking a throw, stealing a base.

In cricket you fake a field throw and we have rules saying otherwise.

The other day an afghani player gave a way a four to keep the batsmen on strike, that also became an issue

Cricket keeps burdening itself with silly rules to claim the status of a "Gentle man's" game.

Just go and watch the video clip in slow motion.

After the fielder threw the ball, why was keeper pointing towards non-striker end? There was absolutely no need for it whatsoever other than try to deceive the batsman.

Is it the batsman fault for falling for it? Yes.
Did the keeper break the law of the game? Yes.

It was both batsmen's job to appeal this as they both saw what happened. Umpires might not have realized what happened but if any of the batsmen had made the appeal then it would have been referred to the 3rd umpire.

I highly doubt any of our batsmen even remembered this rule. Hell they don't even know what type of bat to use while batting. I truly feel sorry for our batsmen who use the same bat and the batting technique in different parts of the world.

This At least with some words n corrective action this wont happen again

And hopefully the officials will know pakistan wont stand around smiling whilst decisions go against them and they dont get mugged off in the future

They have just been mugged off. I have no idea why the PCB is so unprofessional!

Law 41.5 states this was not out.
To those saying De Kock didn't do this deliberately. Why the gesture when Fakhar got out then? If this was India instead of Pakistan, SA would be apologizing and match referee would've banned De Kock for 2 games.

And there would have been a full spectacle in front of everyone.

Just add to it if it was not intentional from KDK then why the team was congratulating KDK instead of running towards fielder who thrown down the stumps from the boundary?

Why would he ask for non striker back up as he knew the throw was coming at wicket keeper end,
Also why team is congratulating QDK instead of running towards the fielder who threw down the stumps for celebration.

We need to make a stand. It's high time we tell the cricketing world that we cannot be cheated against

Misbah and Babar should demand that extra runs are awarded to our team in the next game.

Javed Miandad on the run out:

“You can’t get the eyes off the ball”

“You must love your wicket and runs like a man loves a woman. When you do that, you can’t get run out like this”

“We also used to do that. I used to pretend that I am throwing the ball to the bowler’s end but would through towards wicket-keeper to get the opponent run out. That must be considered smart”

Whilst i agree he cheated but i dont think they should be given extra runs for the next game

I did not like what Quinton did as he was clearly trying to trick him into thinking that the ball was going to the other end, but still Fakhar should have known better and should have only focused on completing the second run.

I cannot for a second believe that the likes of Kohli and Shastri would have taken this so quietly.

Whether there would have been repercussions for de Kock is another matter, but I'm sure other teams would not have taken this lying down like Pakistan has.

That is an excellent tip! All batsmen should keep this in mind.

There is more to it than that.

Fakhar turned to look over his left shoulder to see where the batsman was when the ball was coming from the right. Basic training in junior cricket is you turn to the side the ball is coming from.

Absolute rookie mistake for a international cricketer to make.

Second rookie mistake was Rauf who was running to the end the fielder was should have called out that the ball was coming to Fakhar's end warning him that the throw was to his end.

Seriously basic mistakes from the Pakistan batsmen, this is international cricket and if you make these basic mistakes then you are going to be exposed for them.

Great innings and superb fighting from the position he found himself in but poor cricket in the end to make those type of mistakes.

Was it fake or smart fielding?

Here's what the rules of cricket say -

Law 41.5.1states that “it is unfair for any fielder willfully to attempt, by word or action, to distract, deceive or obstruct either batsman after the striker has received the ball”.

That was a willful attempt to deceive the batter. So unfair play.

You could argue that bowling a slower ball or any other variation is an attempt to deceive the batsman, where do you draw the line?
That's not in the law book.

Read my post. It's directed at the video above where this law comes in play.
