Mohsin Naqvi announced camp for the Pakistan cricket team with the Pakistan Army in Kakul after PSL.

"When I was watching the matches in Lahore, I don't think a single one of you hit a six that went into the stands, whenever a six like that was hit, I used to think a foreign player must have hit that. I have asked the board to make a plan that gets every player's fitness up to speed. You'll have to make a proper effort for that."

"So the New Zealand team is coming now then will have a series with Ireland, England and then we will go to USA. So I asked when will they have the time for the training. So I asked them to gather you guys and have a training with them (army) as they are the best in Pakistan and will help you in the training drills. From 25 to 7th (month unknown) you will have this camp. So one message for all of you if anyone of you want to contact me and share his concerns then he could do it anytime. It's not like that I am chairman so you can't meet me. My office doors are always open for you."

It would be interesting if we see our team do the pushups after winning the T20 Word Cup 2024 :D

I don't get the point of this? What does training have to do with hitting sixes? Azam Khan can already smash sixes out the park? But that doesn't mean he's a good player considering his run in international.

Why do we need the military for strength and fitness standards? Shouldn't that already be the norm during training camps?

Football already has something similar, I thought cricket had the same criteria? Then again those tiktok videos clearly proved otherwise.

fitness gains are made from consistent long-term training and not these camps. You cannot develop cardio endurance or lean mass in a matter of two weeks. At best it would help players shed a few pounds.

Good. Whip these princesses into shape. Enough of the Kaam chori encouraged during Babar Azam's reign as captain. Pakistani players are deeply unprofessional, kaam chors and lack the discipline to manage themselves properly, they cannot be trusted to their own devices, they require a tough task master approach.

I think Haris Rauf will withdraw his plea for the revival of his central contract until this training is over. :ROFLMAO:

What a dumb idea , since when the useless and lazy army men , who can't follow their own training rules and regulation became expert in training international athlete. Army wants to be ne involved in all the matters except their own duties.

lol seems moronic but these chairman love to stamp their dumb marks as big as possible.

Anyone who thinks two weeks of training is going to make a significant difference, they are delluding themselves. If you want cricketers to be more fit, then create a standard which every player is required to qualify for selections and provide assistance with dieticians & nutritionists who could outline meal plans to follow.

Love the remark on sixes, Naqvi giving a verbal phainta to our losers.

I think this is a good initiative. I remember Pakistan did this in 2016 and our players went to England and drew the test series.

If anything it will be a good wake up call for a few comfort zone players about what fitness they need to have.

This is nothing new that is going to happen now. Pakistan did that in 2007 and 2016 as well. Not that it would make any drastic difference but it is good to follow a disciplined routine. Let's see.

Fitness is a matter of habit, maintaining discipline long term. 2 weeks gains will be temporary, unless the trainers can motivate these guys to change their lifestyles and approach to life.

This will serve no purpose.

You need a coach and management that can carry forward the standards later on.

The reason why the 2016 training helped was because our players were already fit and doing training on fitness. But Misbah and co were soo determined to make sure that they do well in England as this was the first return tour after what Amir and co did, that they asked the army to get the team more disciplined and fit.

Result was, we ended up drawing and doing well in the test series in England

Mind you, i think that was the point where Amir decided he cany put up with high fitness standards.

Now by doing two weeks of traning, it wont make a difference unless they keep up with that standard for the next 3-4 years.

Anyways, this is just a propaganda to give the army a favourable outlook. 2016 was also a propaganda because the army was trying hard to fix its image after the APS attack.

After Misbah did the push ups, pmln went crazy and i am surprised how Misbah wad not made a scapegoat by them. I think this was discuss in the parliament/senate that why army was getting credit and why did Misbah and than later in the match his team mates did push ups to thank the army. There was some article or news on this.

Anyways, they are doing the same again. Problem is if the captain fails or does bad and there is trolling of the army on social media, the captain and alot of the players might get sacked from the national team.

Being a tool for propaganda is always a risky business.

However if Pakistan ends up pulling off a win against India or win the world t20, amd if credit is attributed to the army, than pti this time will critisize it.

Oh its gonna be fun....

I bet a few players might retire after this world t20 due to this camp. Army training is tough, misbah, azhar and hafeez explained what used to take place. There is a reason why Amir ran away.

Guys like Azam Khan, Haris Rauf and somr othrt players could end up saying good bye to pakistan cricket at the end of this year

Also, i am desperately waiting for Rizwan's montage with the soldiers.

Cant wait for him stealing the soldiers cap wearing it, faking a cramp hugging the on looking PT sir.

This is just a publicity stunt for the military. The players could do the same workouts elsewhere. However, some players(Azam Khan) may need someone shouting in their ears to start jogging.

So the army is giving training to players on how to hit big sixes. How can the army suddenly improve the players' ability?

Intelligent move this. Balls and reputation of the team are sure to go over the roof after this master stroke.

I must say that I commented on Naqvi's statement without even reading it. As far as I'm concerned, Naqvi is a classic example of why unskilled and incompetent individuals should never be hired for any job. It is a fact that six out of the top ten sixes hit this season were by Pakistani players. To encourage six-hitting, a system that rewards it must be established. Going to the army and doing a few laps is not going to magically transform athletically challenged players into expert six-hitters overnight. It's like preparing for a weightlifting competition by training for a marathon.

Naqvi's lack of knowledge about cricket is evident, and it appears that he's just pretending to be busy by yapping nonsense.

This is also true. Six hitting has less to do with fitness. He could have said something about the fielding standards or bowing speeds which are more to do with fitness than six hitting. Our most unfit player (Azam) hits the biggest sixes.

You haven't caught on yet, have you?

This charade is for the benefit of the Pakistani army, not the cricket team.

you could had just read the whole post maybe

One session in a while wont help them achieve the fitness team needed.... they have to carry on with this habit which they will learn in that camp.

One session in a while is fine, considering their mot meant to be body builders or fight a war.

Just have certain fitness standards such as building up stamina.

Problem is, even that is too much for some players. Azam Khan aside, military sessions are way way tougher then your average gym workout session.

Besides extremely fit players like malik, saim ayub etc, I don't even see someone like babar being able to survive a single ordeal.

The best approach is to set a standard score to achieve in that drill. If someone doesn't reach that level simply kick him out. That's how our mummy daddy boys will take this drill more seriously otherwise they will consider it nothing more than a boys trip to Nathia Gali.

Kicking them out how?

By preventing them to play cricket altogether? Or just having them not participate in fitness activity? Cause neither options really solves anything tbh.

They are athletes they are supposed to be fit. If they can't achieve any basic standard of fitness so what's the point in keeping them in the future plans?

This cake and biryani culture has made our fitness levels more pathetic. Now if there won't be any consequences for not getting any results from this camp, I am sure they will merely go there to enjoy the trip and won't take it seriously at all.

Ic your viewpoint

It took like 6 months to waive off the negative effects of the unnecessary drills.
