ICC offered PCB 'concessions' to avert India boycott: Report

There is more to what the ICC and the Government of Pakistan revealed in their press releases late on Monday evening, which eventually put the India–Pakistan clash officially back on the table. According to a fresh report by news agency PTI, the governing body promised the PCB a “few concessions” in return for withdrawing its threat to boycott the marquee fixture. However, details of the behind-the-scenes understanding will only be made public after the conclusion of the T20 World Cup.

“Whatever concessions the PCB has received from the ICC for ending the boycott will be disclosed only after the T20 World Cup,” a PCB source told PTI on Tuesday.

Neither the ICC nor the Pakistan government made any reference to these reported “concessions” in their respective statements on Monday. The ICC’s release largely focused on Bangladesh, confirming that the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) would not face any sanctions and would be awarded hosting rights for a global tournament during the 2028–2031 cycle, preferably a men’s Under-19 World Cup.

The Pakistan government, meanwhile, stated that its decision to reverse the boycott threat came after sustained appeals from fellow ICC member boards, and also cited a last-minute telephone conversation between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

The PTI report further claimed that Sharif, who serves as the PCB’s patron-in-chief, was briefed on what Pakistan stood to gain if the government formally cleared the team to play against India.

“The ICC now has a clear understanding with Naqvi that no further details of the discussions involving the PCB, the Bangladesh Cricket Board and other member boards will be made public,” the source added.

Earlier, there had been speculation that PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi had pushed for the resumption of bilateral ties with India, or even for India–Pakistan fixtures within the World Test Championship framework. The ICC, however, reportedly rejected those proposals. Naqvi is also believed to have sought an increase in the PCB’s share of ICC revenues, though another insider indicated that any such revision would only be considered in the next financial cycle, subject to ICC board approval.

What a disgrace for Pakistan.

What do you expect when you have Naqvi, Shahbaz and Asim Munir in charge. There motto is “Bheek mangna parta hai, Majboori hai”

On the other hand, the person who said “Absolutely Not!” and had the courage to stand up is in jail.

Serves Pakistan right, bunch of spineless cowards.

India batter Tilak Varma speaking ahead of the match against Namibia:

"To be honest, we are very excited to play. We got to know that the match is going to take place day before. We are ready to play. We are watching all the teams. We are watching the bowlers and the batters.”

“All the players and team members are ready to play. Now, we are in the match zone. The planning will start."

"We are going one by one in every match, so we will see, we have video analysis, we have the technology, so we will see how we are playing, how the wicket is behaving, we have already prepared, so everyone has different shots in their team, so the shots that we have to play in the wicket, the bowlers we have to target."

This has echoes Najam Sethi’s Big 4 claims back in 2014.

The players can exchange roses before national anthems.
It will be a great gesture.

Maybe Surya can take a step forward and do a handshake and say sorry that he worked on BJP agenda?

Hainaa???

Let's raise ourselves above these things.
If Agha ji ever apologizes, i would want Surya to say what King Aragorn said to his Hobbit friends, "My friends, you bow to no one."

Some of the Epic Copium on these pages are meme worthy and deserve a thread in their honour a the very least :ds :kapil

Just the contrast & U-turn from first 15 odd pages to last few pages itself ...lol...

whaaa...just saw this...is this for real? lol...is Nazrul the same dude against which the BD players boycotted the BPL?

i always am critical of BCCI- and still will never be their fan but after seeing some of the padosi board shenanigans and stunts, Jay Bond, Rajiv Rocky and co are legends...:virat:afridi

Indian men’s cricket has, in many ways, become an extension of the BJP/RSS/Hindutva political ecosystem. Players operate under an environment where even basic gestures of sportsmanship, like shaking hands with Pakistani players, can trigger outrage and potentially damage their careers. So when Hindutva supporters claim that “it’s only about cricket,” it’s hard to take that seriously. For them, it stopped being just cricket a long time ago, and as long as domestic political narratives rely on polarization, the sport will continue to be used as a tool rather than remain a neutral competition.

What is even more revealing is the contradiction among those who claim to oppose Hindutva’s excesses yet still support the same political machinery that enables it. Many will publicly distance themselves from the extremist image, saying they don’t support the “goons,” while simultaneously backing the leadership and policies that sustain the very same environment. It becomes a convenient way to maintain plausible deniability while still advancing a domestic political agenda.

Pakistan’s decision to play against India, as it ultimately did, exposed these realities once again. Many people initially supported Pakistan’s reluctance, while others disagreed, but it forced the truth into the open about how politicized the Indians has made male cricket. The PCB’s job now is to operate within its limitations and capitalize on whatever opportunities exist, while protecting Pakistan cricket’s interests in a landscape that has been corrupted by the extremist religious organization governing from India.

Whenever you feel bored, you can come and enjoy the posts of few Pakistani posters here . This is such a great thread. Epic phanta is so enjoyable 😁😁😁.
Have some gherat bro, political differences should not make you say these terrible things. Anti-govt and anti-Pak are two different things and you are crossing the line.
