Pakistan to play three ODIs and three T20Is in Australia

Series to take place from 4 to 18 November across six cities

Pakistan are set to visit Australia for a white-ball series scheduled for November this year. The tour, which will mark the start for Australia’s white ball schedule for the summer of 2024-25, will comprise six games in total – three ODIs and as many T20Is – to be played across six venues from 4 to 18 November 2024.

Pakistan will be returning to Australia after a gap of nearly 11 months, after having competed in the Benaud-Qadir Trophy, which comprised three Test matches played across Perth, Sydney and Melbourne in December 2023-January 2024.

The three-match Dettol Men’s ODI series will begin on 4 November at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground. Pakistan and Australia will then play in Adelaide and Perth on 8 and 10 November, respectively. Pakistan last played an ODI series on Australian soil back in 2016, which saw the home-side come out on top.

Subsequently, Pakistan and Australia will face one another in the three-match Dettol Men’s T20I Series. Pakistan’s last T20I outing on Australian soil was back in 2022, wherein the men in green appeared in the final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

The series will start at The Gabba in Brisbane. Action will then move to the Sydney Cricket Ground; Pakistan’s last T20I at the venue saw them beat New Zealand at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup semi-final. Hobart will be the last stop on the tour, where the final T20I will be played on 18 November.

Full schedule:

ODI Series

4 November: MCG, Melbourne

8 November: Adelaide Oval, Adelaide

10 November: Perth Stadium, Perth

T20I Series

14 November: The Gabba, Brisbane

16 November: SCG, Sydney

18 November: Bellerive Oval, Hobart

Oh cool , I can watch the games live in the stadium XD.

But jokes aside Australia will thrash us unless they play their d team.

HEHE. You cannot hope for something positive for once can you???
Well considering they beat us at near full strength( we only didn't play rizwan) by bowling Smith and Warner in a warmup game, I highly highly doubt we're on their level, the gap is astronomically high atm.

Pakistan has a good chance in white ball format. This is not a test match we are talking about here.

The World Cup will be a good mean to judge the players if they can win in Australia or not. I think Pakistan has a far better side in white ball then in red ball. SO they might do better as well.

Aus pitches are belters in limited formats.pak has to outbat them with consistency in odi and outpower them in t20.Hopefully will watch t20 in Sydney.

In order to do well in Australia, Pakistan should start playing with some decent boundaries at home as well. They play here at about 60 meter boundaries and when they go in Australia, they struggled to hit sixes on 70+ meter boundaries.

We don't have any proper good old fashioned test cricket this year?

What we need is proper test cricket and tours. These few days of ODI's or T20's don't do us any good.
2 tours are coming later this year, ENGLAND in October (tests) and then SA (complete tour).

Sa and nz are not interested in 3 match series as it's not profit for them.aus and ind captians criticised them recently for that.
Then it is better to play a test series with Sri Lanka or even the West Indies. These useless ODI's and T20's don't favour anyone.

Bouncer sahib so England are coming to Pak for a three test series and we're visiting RSA?
yes. Away tours. Pakistan is playing a lot of cricket this year in white ball format but just 5 test more this year. 3 vs England and 2 vs SA.

The five venues in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, Hobart and Adelaide will feature fan zones designated for Pakistani fans

This exciting initiative aligns with CA’s Multicultural Action Plan, aiming to foster inclusivity and provide brilliant experiences for cricket fans from diverse backgrounds.

CA will set up designated seating areas for Pakistan fans, where they can comfortably watch the high-intensity action while enjoying halal food, and desi cuisines. Pakistan fan zones will also have designated prayer areas for fans.

As per reports:

Key Australian players might miss the T20I series against Pakistan later this year to prepare for the five-match Test series against India.

Australia's multi-format stars will have up to four Sheffield Shield matches to fine-tune their skills for the Test series, with the Shield season beginning on October 8.

The availability of multi-format players for the Sheffield Shield will likely be affected by the limited-overs series against Pakistan.

I think in a odi match, pak last time won against aus in aus in 2002 .correct me if am wrong.so very much hopeless to expect even a fight.in t20s they never won in aus against aussies ,I believe

So like the NZ tour we are on a hiding to nothing. If we win, we are expected to and if lose, then all hell breaks lose.

Couple of years back cricviz shared this detail about how to beat Pakistan

Attack them with high pace and bouncers

Pakistan’s bowling attack may lead the way in terms of high pace but their batting order shows concerning frailties against it and these are likely to be exacerbated by conditions in Australia. Since the start of 2018 Pakistan average just 20 against balls above 140 kph; the only Full Member teams worse than this in this period are Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Ireland. For a team who have their sights set on at least making it out of the group, this is a concerning number.

Closer analysis of Pakistan’s batters against high pace show that Shadab Khan, Shan Masood, Babar Azam, Mohammad Nawaz and Iftikhar Ahmed all struggle against balls above 140 kph. Notably Mohammad Rizwan is secure against it but doesn’t score particularly quickly. Perhaps surprisingly, Khushdil Shah – who seems unlikely to start for Pakistan – boasts the best record against balls above 140 kph.

Notably, Pakistan also appear to have an issue against short lengths and in particular bouncers – another weakness which is only likely to be accentuated by the bouncy Australian surfaces. Since the start of 2018 only Ireland and Zimbabwe average less against bouncers than Pakistan’s 20.62 and no team has lost more wickets to the delivery than Pakistan’s 62. This same trend is also apparent across more recent sample sizes as well. The individual records of Haider Ali, Nawaz, Iftikhar and Shadab are once again concerning.

I didn't really believe that stat so I went and had a look for myself. It's unbelievable Pakistan have won just 2 games in Australia in the last 20 years

Is there a worse record in cricket? Win/Loss of 0.064...why does the team even travel? They should be doing everything possible to avoid going.

Steve Waugh in his book pointed out pak never liked sa's relentless aggression and lost 13 or 14 odis on a trot in late 90's. So he decided to apply that same tactics in 99 finals and thereafter it became the rule of thumb for them.just beat the blue out of them and don't give any hope for their so called unpredictable tag.

A passionate Pakistani cricket fan, Tariq Naveed, based in Brisbane, has made a remarkable gesture to showcase his patriotism. He has purchased 800 tickets for the upcoming Pakistan-Australia T20 match at The Gabba, set to take place on November 14.

Cricket Australia had reserved these tickets for a dedicated Pakistan Fan Zone, creating an exclusive space for enthusiastic supporters. Tariq plans to utilize this area to form a human flag, a bold display of solidarity with the visiting team.

Tariq's initiative aims to boost the morale of Pakistan's cricketers, who face challenging times. "I want to demonstrate our support and lift the players' spirits," he said. "As guests in Australia, we'll give them a warm welcome in Brisbane."

This heartfelt gesture embodies the fervor of overseas Pakistanis rallying behind their national team. By transforming The Gabba into a sea of green and white, Tariq and fellow fans aim to create a home-away-from-home atmosphere for Pakistan's cricketers.

I think aus will give rest to all the players part of bgt startingon 22 nov.so best chance for pak to win few matches or series

The damage they done in the UK & U.S this summer.. they spent most parts in restaurants. Apparently Azam Khan is still in a tooting restaurant finishing his mix grill !!

Genuinely agree. I don't wanna go to a restraunt in Sydney only to find I can't book because Azam Kham booked the entire restraunt and depleted all their resources

Australian Chair of Selectors George Bailey said: “This is our last ODI series before the Champions Trophy and the balance of the squad was focussed on that as well as continuing to focus on preparation of individuals for the upcoming Test Summer.

“The one-day side had a great result in the UK particularly given illness and injury challenges. We view this is an opportunity to expand on that achievement in preparation for next February in Pakistan.”

Pakistan beat Australia when they toured, they should be able to beat them away as well.

Unless you're referring to 2018, 2019 aus was a certified c side.

This side has Maxwell, Fraser, Cummins, Smith etc etc.

Dissapointed that Travis is taking a break though.

But this side will still wash us

There is no Travis Head so Pakistan have been given a reprieve

But Mathew Short and Fraser McGurk…

Honestly, if they don't take sharjeel, then they can forget about competiting against australia.

Sending Imam, Babar, Rizwan, Chacha and various other 1990 era medicore bats to face a modern era team in their own den is suicide.

Let’s See.

Aqib might think the best option is Sahibzada Farhan or Tahir Baig :ROFLMAO:

Sahibzada Farhan regressed. He wasn't too bad.

This is the problem with the culture.

I've been noticing that naturally aggressive or free flowing batters in pak all go the Misbah route eventually.

With the exception of Rizwan who was always chawal

Babar, Saud, Sahibzada, and even past players like shehzad(Intially) were all free flowing attacking batters.

Honestly I don't know what happens to this crap lot, but they all end up playing like their being held at gun point and can't play attacking cricket.

Very few like haris, sharjeel, Fakhar are indifferent and try to play positively irrespective of influences.

Sharjeel has been scoring ducks for fun in the on going President cup. He is finished at domestic level.

Anyone who has sharjeel mentality. You're facing a team that's attacking while pak is a medicore 1990's Zimbabwe team and ironically their weaker then that.

I have no doubt in my mind that 2003 Kenya would murk current pak

Sharjeel mentality? He had talent but is long done. You expect a guy to perform against Australia when can't even perform in club level tournament.

You said if they don't take sharjeel to Australia they can forget about competing. A person who can't perform in club level tournament is supposed to perform against Australia. I suggest you read what you have posted.

This Australian side is very weak. Surprised they have rested Alex Carey for this series.

OZ better pray McGurk clicks .

He was smashing Luke Wood recently in the T10 thing… that’s not really a player who is done
Couple years ago I would have taken sharjeel, now, it's time to move on as he is clearly done which is evident by his performance of late.

Short
McGurk
Smith
Labuschagne
Maxwell
Stoinis
Inglis
Cummins
Starc
Zampa
Hazlewood

Even without Head, Carey and Green this still looks like a scary team, especially the bowling.

A bit baffling as to why they dropped Carey though since he was clutch in the England series. Some are saying BGT rest but plenty of BGT players have been picked

This shall be also pakistans last odi series before champions Trophy and players shall be more or less same which shall represent Pakistan in champions Trophy. Ideal squad of Pakistan for ODI shall be
1) Rizwan
2) Shaan masood(C) ideal format for him
3) Kamran ghulam
4) babar azam
5) Tayyab Tahir
6) salman agha
7) imad wasim
8) Jahandad khan
9) M. Amir
10) Naseem
11) Shaheen
12) Haris rouf
13) sufiyaan muqeem
14) Fakhar zaman
15) Mubasir khan

As per reports, Star batter and former white-ball captain Babar Azam, along with pacers Naseem Shah and Shaheen Afridi, are set to return for the upcoming series after being left out of Pakistan's Test squad following their loss to England in the series opener. The selection committee has also finalized the squads for the Australia tour, with newcomers Mehran Mumtaz and Sufiyan Muqeem expected to receive their first call-ups.

Under Rizwan's captaincy, the PCB is likely to drop several high-profile players, creating opportunities for fresh talent to prove themselves on the international stage.

Among those expected to be excluded is Iftikhar Ahmed, who has faced scrutiny from the PCB and hasn’t played for Pakistan since the T20 World Cup match against India in June. Shadab Khan, another notable name, last played a 50-over match in 2023 and has been absent from T20 cricket since June. Despite strong domestic performances, he has struggled to regain the selectors' confidence. Saud Shakeel is also being considered for exclusion, while Fakhar Zaman, who is reportedly dealing with fitness issues, is expected to be another notable absentee.

The Pakistan cricket team will depart for Melbourne on October 29. Upon arrival, they will hold training sessions at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground on November 1 and 2, with an optional session on November 3. The first ODI against Australia is scheduled for November 4.

The selection committee, featuring Aqib Javed, Azhar Ali, Aleem Dar, Asad Shafiq, and Hasan Cheema, is actively assessing potential players for the upcoming three ODIs and three T20 matches in Australia.

Series in Australia are always fun to watch. Looking forward to this tour
Pakistan is terrible in aus. Like really really bad.

Even if we sent a team from the 90's facing current aus, if it's their home den, pak probs loses.

Pakistan players historically amd even now prefer balls to come on to the bat sweetly and like to be bowled into the legs or angled into them.

The idea of uneven bounce followed by anything that angles away or bowling on that 3rd offstump line is something Pakistani players can't deal with

Fakhar potentially missing out is concerning. He has been struggling with alot of injuries in recent years.

Let him rest I say. The series is pointless and unimportant
How is it pointless and unimportant when ct 2025 is 7-8 months away? Pakistan needs odi to prepare and what better way then to fight Australia in their own den

Not entirely true. We had some really good competitive games especially in odis in 90s and early 2000s. Check out world series in which afridi Imran nazir Mohammad Zahir saqlain shoaib played. Check out the odi series that waqar was captain we beat Australia 2 1. Even in tests we were much more competitive Sydney test won with mushie. Hobart test would have won had it not been for umpires. The other Sydney test should have easily one if not for funky Kamran antics.

What? Champion's Trophy is only a few months away and Pakistan last played like a year ago during the WC. There are so many question marks currently too such as who is the #5 batter if Saud is being dropped. 2nd opener with Fakhar is ??? If Fakhar is being dropped, then who are your 2 ODI openers? Is it back to mediocre Imam opening with an out of form Abdullah or unproven Saim?

Shadab & Nawaz are likely not going to be part of the current ODI squad either so who knows who will replace them and they will at least need some sort of allrounder to bat at 7. Australia is using all of their main bowlers too so it's a good look for your main batsmen who are going to be part of the squad to get a good challenge already to prepare. Sitting Fakhar would be incredibly stupid but it would be expected for the most idiotic organization in the cricketing world.

Few days remaining and PCB is still sleeping.

I guess they re waiting for some HOLY WORDS from GOD (WAHI) to come and tell them about the squad.
