Pakistan-Bangladesh all-format series likely to be rescheduled: sources

Pakistan’s all-format tour of Bangladesh is expected to be moved to a different window as both boards look to avoid a scheduling clash with the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), sources confirmed on Sunday.

As per the existing Future Tour Programme (FTP), Pakistan were slated to tour Bangladesh in March-April 2026 for a full bilateral series, featuring two Test matches, three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and three T20 Internationals.

However, the original window now appears untenable after Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi announced earlier on Sunday that PSL 11 will run from March 26 to May 3 next year.

The overlap has prompted discussions between the two cricket boards, with a rescheduling of the Bangladesh tour emerging as the most likely outcome.

A Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) source confirmed that the series will be shifted to an alternative window while making it clear that the tour’s structure will remain intact.

“The series will be rescheduled. The two boards are in discussions,” the source said, adding that the number of matches will not be reduced under any circumstances.

The source also indicated that adjustments could be made within the limited-overs leg of the tour, with ODIs and T20Is potentially being reshuffled to suit the new schedule.

An official announcement is expected once consultations with the PCB are finalised.

Not sure when it’s the monsoon season in Bangladesh but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s rescheduled to clash with it!

Around Nov/Dec would be nice as we have an ODI tri-series at home in Oct (England and Sri Lanka) followed by two tests at home to Sri Lanka but then nothing until two tests at home v New Zealand in around March 2027.

As per reports:

Pakistan are set for two visits to Bangladesh in 2026 as part of a packed home season announced by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). The first tour will take place in March, shortly after the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, featuring a three-match ODI series scheduled for March 12, 14, and 16.

Pakistan will return in May for a two-Test series, part of the ICC World Test Championship 2025–27 cycle. The first Test is slated for May 8–12, followed by the second from May 16. Match venues will be confirmed later.

Why not split the tour?

Most countries nowadays have split tours because there is simply too much cricket (thanks to BCCICC). :inti

Glad to see the T20 series get scrapped. It would be extremely pointless right after the WC.

From May until end of year, Pakistan will be playing plenty of Tests (Bangladesh/WI/England/SL/NZ) so hopefully the consistent run of Tests in that time frame leads to better results.

Dont get jealous. Feel like missing out? Is it hurting to see as BD-Pk relations getting closer since the dalal left to hide in Delhi?

BCB plays down uncertainty over Pakistan tour

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Monday said it has not received any official communication from its Pakistan counterpart regarding a possible postponement of the upcoming three-match One Day International series, despite reports suggesting the tour could be affected by ongoing regional tensions.

BCB cricket operations committee chairman Nazmul Abedeen Fahim said the board remains in the dark over any change of plans from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

“If this comes to a stage where they can't travel, then we cannot do anything. But so far we haven't received any correspondence from PCB in that regard,” Fahim told Daily Sun.

Pakistan are scheduled to arrive in Dhaka on 9 March for the ODI series, with all three matches set to be played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on 11,13 and 15 March.

Speculation over the fate of the tour emerged after foreign media reports claimed that prevailing regional tensions could force a rethink, depending on the security and travel situation.

However, Fahim indicated that, from the BCB’s side, preparations are continuing as planned.

The series is part of both teams’ preparations for the 50-over cycle leading up to the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027, and would mark Bangladesh’s return to ODI cricket since their home series against the West Indies in October last year.

Hearing that it’s uncertain if Pakistan can travel to Bangladesh due to current war situation

How does the US/ Iran war make any appreciable difference to a Pakistan Bangladesh series?

Unless Trump wants to be the match referee, the best match referee there ever was.

Perhaps the PCB wants to wriggle out.…

Howz Pakistan flying to BD on Biman Air or PIA? Don't think Pakistani airlines or chartered flights are flying over Indian airspace....
