According to reports, Pakistan’s upcoming tour of the West Indies will now feature five T20 matches instead of the originally planned One-Day Internationals (ODIs). The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Cricket West Indies (CWI) made the decision together, focusing on preparations for the 2026 T20 World Cup.

i just saw a stat today pakistan finished tenth and last in the last 2023-2025 test cycle...very impressive indeed as we cant het any lower :)

Why not just hold odi's first and then t20? I'm not a fan of 5 t20's. 2026 is still ages away. Some odi should be played to develop the 2027 team.

However on the other hand im not upset either. Odi performance even medicore ones vs WI would give ba/riz an excuse to come back.

I am guessing scheduling extra T20's will help/count towards their T20 rankings which is quite pedestrian at the moment. They need to find a way to get into the top 6 to qualify for the Olympics if I remember correctly.

I think it is not a wise move to just kill the whole ODI setup. Team should stay relevant with all formats but I think both boards have already decided that it will be 5 t20s now.

Two teams at more or less same level. Should be a good contest.

According to reports PCB wants WICB to scrap ODIs after doing it with Bangladesh

PCB threatening to fly back after playing just T20Is

PCB calling it WICB's stubbornness for not agreeing on its term

Shocked to see a cricket board not wanting to play ODIs at any cost. WHY?

:kp

Pak wants only t20s before t20wc (even bit extreme given their low preferences for tests or odis).wi wants odis too so that they won't face the same ignominy as the last wc performance .wi wants to give its new players a chance.

I really wonder who handles pcb affairs. Already had a tussle with bcci, lanka, afg, Oman over Dhaka for acc meeting where acc constitution annuls any decision taken there. Now they have a go with a friendly corrupt board who will bend over financial benefits.Nz, Aus already stepped sending A teams for limited tours. They should really hire professionals atleast to deal with this kind of matters.

What is wrong with a meeting in Dhaka?

Acc constitution makes any decision with out other members as void .so no chance of any strategic advantage. bcci can go to hell but why to distance away urself from other friendly boards. U need every one when u are not the big player.

I am not sure what the issue is with Dhaka. Why do India Oman Sri Lanka and Afghan board not want meeting to be held there?

We need to understand this before deciding who to blame

What ever may be the reason, end objective for any board is profitability .pcb is missing it completely.

3 T20s and 3 ODIs.

Should be a close series. I expect Pakistan to win the ODI series while Windies may win the T20 series.

Very important to restrict T20 World Cups to a 4 year cycle. Having it every 2 years is a farce and will result in an excess of bilateral T20's as PCB are demanding.
I've lost all interest in t20 tbh. Today i couldnt really Garner enough power to generate my wrath. I felt weak and tame today unlike my usual ferocity.

T20 needs to be every 4 years for me to unleash the same beast that I am.able to unleash in test cricket.

The national squad has arrived in Miami / Lauderhill for the T20 International series.

The squad reached Lauderhill in two groups.

The first match between Pakistan and West Indies will be played on 31 July.

They are going to play every 2 years but we need to find a way to get rid of these meaningless bilaterals. Some of these matches demean an international cap.

Will be in Florida, anyone wants to link up and have chacha Misbah roasting session with me

Sick of these useless T20 matches. Every series has endless T20s but not a single test match. PCB are a complete joke.

I believe this tour was split into 2 parts. First part is the LOI leg which has ODIs and T20s. Second part has Tests only.

Test leg is scheduled to happen next year (WTC tests).

This series will either revive babar's career in odi or it'll be the end of the road for him.

Its his favourite team to bash as well aka WI

Why Pakistan want to play so many T20Is?

Aren't they playing a T20 tri-series after this WI series.

Here are my predictions for PK vs WI @Nikhil_cric you heard it here. Let the curse be broken.

T20

1) Saim continues to fail
2) Farhan has a dream run
3) Salman Mirza proves hes a gem
4) Pakistan to win 3-0

Odi

1) Saim performs in his favourite format
2) Babar and Rizwan nightmare run continues
3) Pakistan beat wi 3-0

West Indies has lost 16 of their last 18 completed T20Is.

Still I'm backing Westindies to win the T20 series against Pakistan.

Wi did reasonably good job in scoring against Aussies. They had good scores of 200, 190, 170 etc.pak will be thoroughly tested.

1) Fakhar
2) Saim
3) Babar
4) Rizwan(WK)
5) Salman Ali Agha
6) Hasan Nawaz
7) Muhammad Haris
8) Faheem Ashraf
9) Naseem Shah
10) Shaheen Shah Afridi
11) Sufiyan

^^ Imo I would want this team to play. Am not a fan of faheem but I'll choose him over Hasan Trundler Ali. His fluke run vs Bangladesh is over. He was a washed up has been in 2023 and is still a washed up has been.

Shaheen need to get rid of his ego and bat at no 10. Both naseem and Faheem are better batters then he is. Gotta get rid of this rubbish im a no 8 and no 3 psl superstar batter mentality.

I firmly believe this is the best approach. 4 aggressive players (Saim, Fakhar, Hasan, Haris) followed by 3 accumulators (Babar, Rizwan, Agha)

Please keep Abdullah 100 steps away from this squad. They are delusional if they think he is the next best thing.

Farhan isnt an atg batter. He is just okay, but he is miles and miles > Abdullah.

Also this doesnt even make any sense? Abdullah avg 32 in list A and 45 in FC while Farhan avg 45 in fc and 41 in List A? They both avg the same in fc woth farhan clearly being > in odi.

But farhan has more experience and has played more list A and Fc games then Abdullah. Infact double the amount.

Bowling is a concern ...

Saim
Haris
Babar
Riz
Salman
Hasan
Imran
Wasim
Waqar
Saqlain (or Mushy)
Abrar or Moqim

CWI Announces Men’s Squad for CG UNITED ODI Series Against Pakistan

Cricket West Indies (CWI) has announced the 15-member squad for the 50 over leg of the white ball home series against Pakistan, set to take place at the iconic Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba, Trinidad. The series will feature three CG United One-Day Internationals (ODIs) on August 8, 10 and 12.

Hunting a fourth consecutive ODI series win at home, the squad has the nucleus of players who were successful during home series wins against England and Bangladesh to end 2024 as well as the tour of the United Kingdom earlier this year.

The highly anticipated tour will be the final one of the “Full Ah Energy” home series and provides an opportunity for CWI to focus on building its ODI team ahead of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027.

Alzarri Joseph has been given an extended rest to continue workload management while Romario Shepherd makes a return after missing the matches against Ireland and England earlier this year.
