Frankly I wasn't impressed by his bowling. (Probably needs more time and practice). I was told that he's a batting All Rounder but still waiting for him to do something big with the bat.

Pakistan U19 won against Nepal U19, but it was not a dominant victory. If our batters are struggling against such a minnow team, what will we do against top teams like Australia and New Zealand!!!!

Bro Pak batting is probably the best in this world-cup in terms of consistency and level headedness even though none of the batter look talented enough to be in the national side in a season or two but it’s our bowling which is woefully slower than all other big nations and non spinning spinners.

Pak u19 batters knows how to grind and finish the match without panicking that’s the only quality we have and it’s a really big quality to have at U19 level but sadly no technically perfect batter nor any dominant stroke maker in this lineup.
Both openers starts so cautiously irrespective of who is bowling and they keep playing and missing, things were not like this in the previous worldcups we always seems to have couple of dominant stroke makers at this level.

They will do just fine , they know how to grind and make consistent scores , we might even win the worldcup but surely not a single player in this line up with X factor
This team reminds of NZ under Fleming, no big names but gel well together and punching above it’s weight.

The only threat is Maphaka and Vidler as they can really cause Havoc due their pace and swing otherwise our batting is good enough

Yaar what collapse - 201 chased with 5 down - why so negative , though me does not follow Pak U19 but I am sure there must be some good talent - at least spinners , liked the EngU19 spinners of desi descent , they looked promising . disclaimer - Pak spinners senior team are real ordinary - can name 5 Indian FC spinners besides the 4 in Test squad who could waltz in your senior team just like that

Pakistan U19 registered their second consecutive win at the ICC U19 World Cup after they defeated Nepal U19 by five wickets at Buffalo Park, East London. Arafat Minhas took three wickets in an economical spell to restrict Nepal U19 to 197 in the first innings. In return, Azan Awais produced an unbeaten half-century to take Pakistan U19 over the line.
Shamyl Hussain (37, 59, 4x4s, 1x6) and Shahzaib Khan (37, 70b, 3x4s, 1x6) set the foundation for the successful chase courtesy of an 80-run opening partnership. Right-arm seamer Aakash Chand provided the breakthrough for Nepal U19 as he sent both opening batters walking back in the same over.
Arafat Minhas, batting at number three, chipped in with just eight off 15, including a boundary, before he also fell victim to Chand. Pakistan skipper Saad Baig was dismissed for a five-ball duck after he was caught off Aakash Tripathi’s bowling as the side was reduced to 104-4 in 28 overs.
Azan and Ahmad Hassan batted together to add 64 runs to the total, taking their team in reach of the target. Dipesh Kandel struck to remove Ahmad for 29 off 37 deliveries including four boundaries.
Azan went on to hit an unbeaten half-century, smashing 63 off 82 balls, showcasing six boundaries. For his impressive performance with the bat, Azan was awarded player of the match.
Haroon Arshad, the seventh man in, also contributed an undefeated 15 off 18, with the help of two boundaries.
Chand was the most successful bowler for Nepal U19, picking up three scalps. Kandel and Tripathi had one wicket each to their names.
Earlier, Nepal U19 won the toss and elected to bat first. They suffered two early blows courtesy of Ahmad; opening batter Arjun Kumal (6, 12b) was out in the fifth over and Tripathi (6, 10b) was caught by Arafat in the seventh over.
Captain Dev Khanal added 23 from 37, with three boundaries, before he was caught by Ubaid Shah off Ali Asfand’s bowling. Shortly after, Uttam Magar (4, 15b) fell to Arafat to bring Nepal U19 down to 85-4 in 21 overs.
Opening batter Bipin Rawal was the next batter to walk back to the pavilion, awarding Arafat his second wicket of the innings. Rawal, who contributed a hard-fought 39 from 68 on the back of four boundaries and a six, was the top-scorer for his side.

Not every victory comes with a world thrashing performance. It was good win. Pakistan were in control throughout.
Real test will come in later stages of the tournament. That will test the nerves as usual.

Nepal is definitely not a minnow team in terms of talent , they made look our pacers toothless but just didn’t had the nerves to control

It feels like our batting lineup collapsing is an ongoing problem that hasn't been fixed for years. The way these players perform in the U19 team just carries over to the national team. If their nerves showed while chasing a target against Nepal, it's making me worry about the future of our cricket,seems like it's not going to change anytime soon.
Until you take cricket out from karachi and lahore don't expect our players to be comfortable against bodyline and pace .
Just look at the pathetic pitches in president trophy in karachi.
Karachi is the main culprit of producing these low bounce zooter wickets .

This was a very poor chase by the young boys. They took it to the last over, Yes the pitch was difficult to bat on but still, it was not very confident chase. Looked nervous and shaky. Hope they can do well moving forward.

Pak seems to have their slowest bowling attack since the days of Sarmad Bhatti and Fiaz Butt opening the bowling for us , it was also a terrible attack , this one is slightly better than that lol.

Yep they know how take wickets at U19 level and the batters know how to keep getting consistent runs at this level as well but at this level you expect 2/3 players to be level above and standout among all the other players in the competition and are just 1 or 2 season away from national side, no such player in this squad sadly.

We always used to have such players at U19 level , be it Haider Ali , Naseem , Shaheen , Zeeshan Zamir , Shadab Khan and upon seeing them you know that they will be in the national side in an year or two

In batting we need dominant batters who plays with an authority and no respect for the opposition ,in pace bowling we need top speed of 140k atleast with an average speed around 132-137K and in spin department we need an accurate spinner who can actually turn the ball at good speed , None of such type of players exist in this squad.

In the last decade I was keep getting disappointed seeing our U19 bowlers not bowling anything above 140k and keep thinking when on earth we will be getting our Next Zahid. Akhtar and Sami and now days even 140k bowlers we don't seems to produce at this level.
Just play Ali Raza in the next game just for the sake of his pace , atleast he is as quick as Maphaka and Vidler.
