Pakistan has not liked Indian Hockey Team’s gesture at the Hero Hockey World League semi-final where they wore black armbands to stand in solidarity with the soldiers martyred in the recent terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir.

The team is unhappy that the Indians chose a sports platform to send out a political message.

Former Pakistan hockey player Shahbaz Ahmed, while speaking to Hindustan Times questioned why the Indian cricket team did not do the same when they played Pakistan twice in the recently concluded ICC 2017 Champions Trophy.

He added that using the hockey pitch to send out a political message is "not in the right spirit."

Even the hosts, England, have also not supported India’s gesture to condole the death of Indian soldiers.

Meanwhile, the International Hockey Federation (FIH) has apologised for the comments made by its President Dr Narinder Batra on his personal Facebook profile, where he had hit out at Jammu and Kashmir separatist leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq for congratulating Pakistan for its win over India in the ICC 2017 Champions Trophy.

“The FIH would like to emphasise that these comments were the personal thoughts of Dr Batra and not representative of the views of the FIH,” the world body said.

"The FIH would like to apologise for any offence that these comments may have caused. “At the request of FIH, these comments have now been deleted and the matter will be reviewed internally in line with our governance processes," the FIH statement added.

Don't see any issue here a team/country can decide to wear black armbands for any of their countrymen it's upto their choice.. Similarly a team/country are within their rights to not follow silence like Saudi Arabia football team did however petty and disgusting it may look to outsiders and fans..

Complete non issue being made into an issue by news outlets

No issues with that at all, it gives Pakistan a great chance to wearnex t time for innocent Kashmiri victims killed by Indian soldiers.

A good chance for Pakistani players to wear them next time when they face india in a sport to show support for kashmiris against indian occupation.

Sure they can and same ways Indian players can always wear against occupation of POk..

No issue at all. By doing it India is actually making the wold pay attention to atrocities in IoK. No publicity is bad publicity, they are doing what Pak players should have done.
