I KNOW its getting ahead of myself but if pakistan do win this test match, first in 15 years against aussies, how good does Salman Butt look?

We should keep it in perspective. To be honest, his field placings today were bizzare. Amir and Asif were swinging the ball like crazy yet he only had 2 slip fielders and strangely had midwicket in position.

However, we should give him time and i am sure he'll learn the art of captaincy as he grows into the job. I am sick of seeing a captain change after every 2 games.

By gosh this is getting ridiculous, this pitch looks absolutely innocuous now.

Maybe it wasn't the conditions and pitch that caused Aus to struggle.... just great bowling from Pak!

i would rather small horse Poo then watching Farhat edging and oohhhhh ahhhhhhhh coming out of aussies mouths...........salman has been solid

Who this morning thought that we would see this sort of scorecard at this point?

Well what a day it has been. I was never expecting something like this from Pakistan. After the bowling performance I wondered if our batsmen will also go the way of the Aussies but this has been very good!

Great session by Pakistan... and as Ramiz would put it..."good relationship built up by Butt and Farhat"

What a session. I have nothing but luv for Salman and Imran <3

Now that is two sessions in a row where we have been dominant. When was the last time that happened?

Someone needs to make a video of Mohammad Aamer's delivery to Mitchell Johnson first up and embed it in the mind of every Pakistani cricketer. That was an AMAZING delivery, one of Aamer's best!

Happened in the Sydney test. But this time hopefully the captaincy won't be as dismal as Yousuf

Following the match here is so much more fun than cricinfo. :) And surprisingly, the updates are quicker too.

Meanwhile, Nirav has been daydreaming: "The super-ultimate extra-ordinaire sub-continent team comprising of Indian batsmen, Sri Lankan spinners, and Pakistani pacers: Gambhir, Sehwag, Dravid, Tendulkar, Laxman, Dhoni, Herath, Mendis, Aamer, Asif, and Gul." Personally I'd have Sangakkara in there in place of the million-dollar man, but otherwise, it's hard to fault that line-up!

15.21pm The covers came out as the players went off for the break, and there appears to be some drizzle in the air. We'll update you as soon as we know what the weather's doing!

3.27pm Brydon is back after stocking up on tea and cake, and informs us that the covers are still in place and the rain is still spitting down. We will be held up for a while, but Australia won't mind that on two fronts. Not least, it might liven up the wicket a touch.

Australia 88

Pakistan 64/0 (15.0 ov)

Pakistan trail by 24 runs with 10 wickets remaining in the 1st innings

Match delayed by rain - Day 1

Umpires out. Rudi will be glad to get away from the British weather when he retires after this test.

How long is the tea session meant to be (how many more hours of play are there)?

Lets hope we dont lose any wickets due to slackness on the Re-start.

Tea is only 20 mins (unless rain comes) but Douggie will be enjoying the extra time to munch. 90 overs have to be bowled but bad light may intervene.

These extra pauses in the play are dangerous and there will be a little freshness in the wicket after the drizzle. Hope they stay focused.
