Pakistan v Sri Lanka | Asia Cup 2016 | 4th March, 2016 | Dhaka | Sri Lanka Innings

Looks like battle between an unlucky better team with a certified minnow.

Poor bowling from Riaz in this over. Afridi needs to bring Irfan or Amir back.

Out of form players must love to play against Pakistan. First we brought Sarkar back to form and now Dilshan.

Given out spin resources right now it wouldn't be a bad call to take Zulfi or Ajmal to WT20.

I really think Asghar / Nawaz or even Gohar have a more chance of mucking it up at the big stage in India - Also the fact that most of our players can't handle pressure to save their lives

I think exactly opposite. These bunch of loosers have their limit measured by every team. PAK 'll not win the WC in any case - sent 5/6 U23 players under a new Captain, which 'll play fearless cricket.

However garbage SL's team is, they still have better strategies than us, by miles. See how their best batsmen open the innings. If Dilshan and Chandimal were Pakistani, they'd be stuffed down the order somewhere. This is the type of the out of the box thinking that we lack. Everything is so rigid. If openers are struggling, there's never any consideration about, i.e. opening with UAkmal or anything like that. No, we need a 'specialist' like Khurram... and when he fails, we need the other 'specialist' Shehzad.

Usama Mir and Mohammad Asghar are must for the WC. You need proper spinners not crappy ones like Nawaz and Imad.

Our players lost all their strength. There is no motivation. God knows what humiliation is waiting for us in WT20.

Ajmal or take a risk with Asghar. We know Nawaz isn't ready, Asghar might be.

Why hasn't Imad bowled yet?

Immad is useless player who is engulfed with profound arrogance and unwillingness to learn, something that Saqlain pointed out during post match discussion.

Lala is so unlucky - gave only 24 runs with an over in PP. Similar performance by others, PAK would have chased 120...........

The problem is if and when those U-19 players don't perform; which would be a given since they would have zilch competitive experience given our pathetic domestic setup, these same hacks would be then recalled in the name of - no talent in the country

For the sake of Pakistan cricket we need to ride this out up until the World T20 and hope that by tweaking a few chances we, at least.......at least cross the qualifying group.

With what the news is circling around here, there would be some major changes after the WT20. Not at any cost of experimentation should we jeopardize this chain of thought and sending an inexperienced team would only do the opposite.

Someone is obsessed with :afridi, I get that afridi isn't great and doesn't deserve to be in the team but don't you think you are overdoing it? Every post making fun of afridi, if I didn't know better I would think you are a crazy pakistan fan who is very upset at the losses suffered by pak

He's a Bengali who's still got a grudge against Afridi after his Asia cup 50ovr theatrics against Bang.

Though tbf Afridi deserves it, but it is getting a bit too much now.

To be honest, I don't care about the fact that we'd be chasing 150+. We need such sore badly to get a check of our batsmen and their ability because it's not like we wouldn't be chasing such a huge score even if our bowlers click.

Imad is even worse.

He needs to bowl though so we can see what he can do. Certainly not good enough to play as a specialist batsman.

so, this team will do well in WT20? pitches in india will be similar to the psl pitches.

Pitches in India will be flat. Pitches in the UAE were spin-friendly while pitches in the Asia cup have assisted fast bowling.

Agreed. Winning this game with out fast bowlers bailing us out might have stopped the selectors from making changes to the squad.

No respite for Nawaz.

Pakistan bowling has not looked a bit threatning today.

World record coming up for a second time this year

Afridi's tactics of bringing spinners on is really costing us now. The key really was to pick up wickets, but after a semi-decent start, we let go off the pressure and went defensive as a result. Now the batsmen are making merry.

What would he have done different than the current playing XI considering he struggled in PSL, a league which is being labeled for being epitome of mediocrity.

so players are so brittle that they can't adjust from sqaure turners to modrate spin/ flat pitches?
bechara afridi

I couldn't believe he bowled 2 overs of spin inside the first six. This wicket doesn't look any different from the earlier ones in the tournament. And Amir and Irfan had both bowled well.

Hey guys what's the score? How has Amir bowled? I can't view cricinfo, stuck in China. Will miss the finals as well, not worth it anyway.

We are being bashed as if we are not Pakistan but an associate team.

Funny how afridi the coward bowls himself out quickly

What major changes 'll happen? Afridi 'll retire (or 'll be told), Irfan at 36 would be dropped, Wahab at 34 'll be played selective matches; MoHa at 38 'll be given 1/2 years, Malik at 36 might be made Captain, Sami at 38 'll be dropped for good, Sarfraz at 35 'll be made Deputy (Or Captain), ........... these are eye wash.

History tells what AUS changed - after Greg, Lillee & Marsh retired, while Yallop & few others went to SAF; ACB dropped 9/10 senior players & played a team under AB with players like Steve, Mark, Deano, Boon, Marsh, Mathews, Reid, McDermott, Valleta & few others I forgot - that's 10 or 11 U23 players & these were genuine age. AUS went to such a low level that they were almost losing a home series against IND. BUT, Simpson took charge of the team & in 2 years time they won the WC.

I think you should look up what square turners are. The pitches in the Ind-SA series are those. The PSL ones assisted spin a lot at first but eventually because quite flat towards the 2nd half of the tournament.

painful to watch Pakistan these days

Whab's figures don't do justice....he has bowled some adrenaline pumping and life threatening short balls...now he has bought Pak in the game

Sri Lanka have a match-winning total on the board already.

You're quoting me a scenario of a time when shield cricket teams would genuinely beat international sides day in day out - that is the reason why they managed to win the grand cup in a couple of years only.

However this strategy is futile with Pakistan because the domestic setup isn't competitive enough and therefore our youngsters need time + mentorship during their international careers to make them decent players.

The changes I am saying people are calling for is yes !! Make a young team but retain players like Malik and Sarfaraz who has a good amount of international experience to guide those raw players from the domestics.

I think there would be changes in the coaching staff as well

Malik and Afridi are enough spin. Play Yamin instead of Nawaz for WT20

Now send in Thisara lol. Brainless strategy by Sl to send in Jayasuriya
