What's new

Pakistan v West Indies | 2nd ODI | Sharjah | Oct 2, 2016 | Match Thread

Was a poor shot by Babar - should be aware of where the fielder is.

Malik has only been at the wicket a few balls but this knock already has shown the value of having an old master at the wicket in a dicey situation. A lesser player might have gotten out due to the pressure of early wickets but malik has been able to calm the nerves of the dressing room and guide barber along. Really has been fantastic to watch.

yes absolutely amazing world class knock so far

Almost every t-20 match that we've won since the past year; his performances have been incredible.

BUT, you can't give him credit for just one ODI, except for that 1 odi, he has never played an under pressure knock in ODI's recently...hope so he plays it today.

He wants to take responsibility and bat up the order. Batting at no.4 is his best position and he should be persisted at 4. A consistent run at this position like in T20's would result in more consistent performances from him.

I'm disappointed by how Babar has been starting his innings in this series

I thought he had more of a sense of urgency, not just tuk tuk to start

Pakistan's strike rate issues are still there. They are camouflaged by these starts from Sharjeel. Take out his innings and you can see how poor Pakistan are so far.

Our team has realized that we need to score 300+ every time but our team still hasn't realized that it can be achieved by singles also. We need to learn the art of rotating the strike.

How often do you mean?

Once in every 3 innings is acceptable but any less is not IMO.

Elite batsmen get a score of 50+ in every third game. David Warner for example has 25 combined 50/100's in 79 innings.

Those are certainly not realistic expectations.

Lets be patient - only judge an innings after it has come to an end.

Still a lot of time for Babar and Malik and the RR is still above 5.5

Specially your favourite Azhar Ali.. who was blazing away at a SR of 50.

Azhar Ali type captaincy by bringing on a spinner when the batsmen are stuck

I don't get too stuck on players. Back on point, in both matches the initial burst from sharjeel allows everyone to take their time. Won't work against the better teams

"hi Shashank, whou do you think has the edge at the moment?" Yes, two wickets lost but still a good start this for Pakistan. They're marginally ahead for sure

We are just moaning for nothing.

You should call the match as it rolls out. Otherwise we might as well shut it off and track the score after 50 overs.

How many of our ODI greats averages over 40 or even 50.

He has been pretty good in ODI's since his return last year.

well he failed in the uae series against england n then he again failed in the recent english odis barring that last innings

Narine and Braithwate; Maliks bunnies in the T-20's....But.....in ODI's....don't know what happens!

Probably the only time Ramiz is worth listening to: when he talks about the past. Very interesting.

Nice story from Rambo. Pakistan-West Indies rivalry used to be epic, titanic battles.

Nowadays its pretty tame.

Anyway, Brathwaite's bowling is harmless for the most part. Can't accomodate both him and Holder but they're there because they're WI's LOI captains. Alzarri Joseph and Miguel Cummins are better pacers.

Azam is the younger guy and should be the one looking for the 2nd run, not Malik.

Windies have some awful selections. Shanon Gabriel was so impressive yet he doesn't find a spot. Remember the name is awaal darjay ka fazul.. but continues to play because of these four sixes.

He's injured.

Malik charging down to the pacers - good shot again!

Malik right at home when bashing trundlers like Brathwaite or Zimbo pacers like Chatara and Tiripano.

When Alzarri was on he was fidgety as hell.

Such a big tall guy and fastest ball is Indian-esque

Over the last 2 innings I have noticed Babar's inability to find the gaps in the first part of his innings . . I don't remember him having this problem in England . . or before . .

How about his overall career (2013-present) - look at that.

Well he's had 2 phases in the team and it's better to go off his current one since it looks like that he'll get a proper run now instead of prematurely being dropped. So for now doing the job. I reckon as he plays more, he'll start getting big scores as well. Key is to not discourage him for playing aggressive cricket.

Main Malik has really improved his SR, he was at 30-40 and now nearly 100. Same with Babar.

The only guy who continues to bat at SR of 50 till he reaches atleast 50 is captain fantastic.

whats ur point then ?

I just don't like 'Malik being bashed for nothing'

like posters now saying that malik is bashing these pacers because the aren't good etc. etc......then why the rest of the team isn't able to bash them?

even if they aren't good, what the point of bashing him when he is doing the job in the best way possible.

He's not even batting now so what's the use in attacking him?
