This is the problem with some of the guys on PP, a guy has a few bad games and you want him to be dropped!
Then you say we need to give an opener a good solid run!!

Salman Butt is a good player he needs to play more cricket, more Test cricket!
Hes still a very young player and is one of our best openers we have had after Saeed Anwar and Aamir Sohail!!

Nasir Jamshed seems like a reasonable prospect, we have to see how he does outside Pakistan though

Yea i definitely like Nasir Jamshed so far.

Well i may be wrong but with his technique i dont think Manzoor would do well on seaming pitches. (and you know im probably right about that :younis )
I disagree about the confidence point you made, not the technical point. As for this desire to find openers who will score on "seaming pitches" - it is surely some form of delusion.

I sincerely hope Khurram Manzoor scores REALLY big today. Otherwise certain PP'ers will label him like they've labelled :butt.

So what are you trying to say, that Salman Butt is a good opener. He doesn't even no where his off stump is. He has crap foot movement. I don't know why he tries to play off side shots with hid wrists. He should become more orthodox. He hasn't done nothing special on these flat tracks

Manzoor not showing great technique there, doesn't inspire a lot of confidence as an opener. Why can't we find any good openers in Pakistan?

If Pakistan had any sense they would make Younus Khan an opener and a long term opener. He comes in the 2nd over anyway.

LOL @ Shoaib Malik and Kamran Akmal sharing headphones listening to iPod :)

Thats what happens when your not in good form! :butt

Salman Butt is just terrible, i dont know why he is in the team, how many chances is he going to get jeez.

Man, did you watch Butt against the might of McGrath and Warne? You dont just "lose" that sort of talent.

In the last two matches, the first 5(ish) overs have been really slow. Hopefully these two hang in there til about the 7th overs - then will be the time for ape-destruction.

He doesn't have a solid technique. You can give him a 150 games and he will still be the same. People got happy when he was scoring runs against the minnows. He scored because there was flat tracks, dropped catches and crap opposition. It's not as if todays opposion is the hardest, this is a weak West Indies side.

Nasir Jamshed to open with Manzoor or Younus Khan. Get rid of that Butt

what time does the ICL start. The caption thingy at the bottom is saying ICL will be broadcasted at 7:30, does this mean that some of PAK match will not be shown on TEN SPORTS

We just need to train batsmen at an early age, rather than let them develop their skills through tape ball cricket.

The only way he is going to get a solid technique is by playing cricket regularly!!

BTW: Butt has a better technique then Jamshed!!

a good run? Salman has been persisted with for way too long. It is time for a change indeed. He is really fortunate to be out there with the sort of technique he has. I mean how many chances are we going to give him. No other opener has been persisted with for this long.

pitch does not seem that good for batting atleast now...it just feels ball is not really coming on... pitch has two pace feel to it so far

Akmal was listening to "drop it like its hot" by Snoop Dog. :yk

Pakistan taking their time to settle in but obviously that happens when you loose an early wicket.

:boom: :boom:

Look how much time we are playing cricket again!
PROPER cricket!
If you do not play regularly its quite obvious, if your a young player, you will lose some form!!

It can't be much better when Salman Butt has so many faults. My point is that if Salman Butt is going slow against good opposition, for example, the first ODI, and that wasn't good opposition, he'll waste 60 balls for 25 runs. Pressure on the middle order. If you have someone like Nasir, who is more aggressive then he can score quick runs and less pressure on the middle order.

although butt did not perform this series...he has performed nicely so far this year even though some matches have been against minnows...
he has played well against ind since our next series is against ind we should not drop him
19/1 6 overs

Bar Afridi, Younis Khan has to be the most flamboyant cricketer in Pakistan at the moment. I love it . :yk

salman butt has been pakistan's most consistent opener obviously now and again he is going to have a bad day. But that doesn't mean we just throw away talent.

Thats what some of these other posters dont understand!

When younus gets in he usually makes a big one. Lets hope he doesn't get out before making a high score because that could make a major difference in the outcome of today's game.

One of the main things about pakistan is they lack fire power at the top of the innings the openers aren't explosive enough. unlike india they have sehwag and gambhir who will always get them off to a fast start if they stay in and ease the pressure of the middle order.

*misbah gets out, malik has to go in*

malik: *still listening to ipod with akmal*
inti: hey shoaib i think you have to go in to bat now
malik: WAIT! just wait for this song to finish... :P

singles are coming so rarely that every one of it is being clapped by the crowd :P

Bishop & Waqar make a good commentary double act - lethal bowlers at their peak.

Fair bit of knowledge.

Plus those 'Waqarisms' :)
