Pakistan vs Australia | 1st ODI | Sharjah | March 22, 2019 | Pakistan Innings

Australia and England are as good as any sides on flat roads. This doesn't look like one. Pakistan should still fancy their chances to beat this Australian side on this surface.

Its surprising how some of our fans still don’t understand the role of conditions in how fast and how much you can score.

Many fans compare scores being made in Eng or Ind to UAE. On slow wickets it’s difficult to play your shots, expecting boundaries and scores like some other venues is an unrealistic expectation.

Would like to see how Australia bat before accepting the assumption the best you can do is score 70 to 75 odd off 18 overs on this track.

Shan Masood already looking a lot better than Imam ul Haq.

A very composed innings today. No unnecessary risks just proper cricketing shots.

Do not forget that he is strong and has a powergame as well!

If next 12 overs go well than post 30 overs 7 remaining (or whatever at that time) of Maxwell and Stoinis can be sensibly targeted

I have seen NZ bat here in last ODI series played in UAE, don’t remember any team scoring 300 +

Okayish innings from Shan. If he can average this every match that would be good.

Just needs to improve his off-side game a bit.

If he averages 40 every innings with a SR of 60, Pakistan arent gonna be doing much at start of the innings.

Would Sharjeel or Fakhar have batted the same way?

Or any modern opener??

No Fakhar batted pretty well in the last series however Colin Munro mostly struggled to play his shots. One or two guys playing well is an exception, historical scores in UAE can be easily seen. But we both know that Shan and Imam are not those kinds of players as well.

No they're not. The pitches are quicker and bouncier making strokeplay and hitting through the line much easier.
Depends. Lord's, Southampton, Cardiff and maybe Taunton are very similar to this pitch.

Enjoying this, every batsman who walks out to bat has to play and cement his place for the next game in the series and also the CWC..Healthy competition...

Umar akmal had a decent 2011 wc. I still don't understand why some people rated shahzad. He flopped so badly in the 2011 wc

People seem to forget these UAE pitches are low and some what "sticky" is the best way to describe it. Rarely are their the mammoth scores we see elsewhere. Pakistan getting around 250 should be enough.

Will see if Akmal plays with brains... It has always been an issue with him that he brainfades every now and then...

The only exception i can remember is when pak scored like 360 vs nz in 2016 i think

This.

Pak is actually doing well thanks to Shan and Haris.

We could even get to 280 if U. Akmal also fires.

both wickets lost so far off aggressive shots.. proving my point its hard to score and easy to just survive on these wickets. If you get 250 then opposition cant just dead bat..

The ban on Smith & Warner has helped the IPL Franchisees (Key players for their sides!)

UK dropped trying to play aggressive shot... So hard to play shots on these wickets.

Both are rusty.. cant see them scoring many runs. Warner hasnt got many runs in the games he has played so far for other leagues. Although IPL is the easiest league to score runs.

Now people will say Umar is an amazing batsmen.

But he always needs a life or two to perform.

Couple of really good 6s from Akmal.. Lucky innings so far but you need to get lucky if you going to play your shots.

Wow Umar. 3 sixes in one over and that too in middle overs, I dont remember last Pakistani batsman doing that.

Come what may Haris has to play at WC.This guy is amazing and our most consistent batsman after Babar

Haris Sohail is struggling big time here. And he is not struggling because of the wicket.

I don't see him playing ahead of either Hafeez or Malik.

Sohail playing too many dot balls he needs to realise you cant really catch up on these wickets.

add Babar at 3, Haris at 4, Umar at 5, and you have a great looking side

Haris has looked average today for the most part.. Need more of this from him

umar akmal is a proper bat

asif ali is a hack, hacks are good for t20s not odis

Playing Asif Ali in ODI's was an incredible blunder

Anwar Ail is a better batsmen than Asif. Umar is definitely a major improvement

There is no comparison between UK and Asif.. Umar must bat at 4 and asif is number 7 batsmen. If you are going to play Umar lower than 5 better t play Asif because Umar wont do anything.

Haris Sohail needs a big series, this is his only way to convince the management on why he is perfect for the No.4 spot in the World Cup.

Nice platform laid but we need to double score from this point and get 290.

Exactly. This is our middle-order post-WC.

Haris and Umar are the best rotators of strike and players of spin in Pakistan.

Not really. He has struggled for any sort of momentum. Malik has a power game, which Haris clearly lacks. Although Haris is a much superior player of pace.

when will pakistanis fan learn that for now they need batsmen who stay at the wicket?

when has maliks power game ever been prevalent? the only time i recall is his 41 ball 82 in 2003.

Haris and Umar are the best rotators of strike and players of spin in Pakistan.

Haris is already unfit so he isn't getting fitter at the age of 30. Post WC is the time to look at Saud Shakeel for #4 while UA could pull off another WC. It should be Babar at 3, Saud at 4, and Umar at 5.
