Pakistan vs Australia | 1st ODI | Sharjah | March 22, 2019 | Pakistan Innings

Good move to promote Faheem, this is the only way you can develop his batting

Faheem has a good chance of making a solid score. 9 odd overs to play will help a lot.

Why do you think that openers have a license to hit everything? If anything, Haris Sohail can be considered as a back-up opener if Fakhar goes through another dip in form.

Every modern ODI opener has full license to hit anything.

A number 4 should be a dependable batsmen who can anchor or accelarate according to the situation.

Umar can do both but not without any risks which makes number 4 position shaky.

Faheem will be the next superstar of Pakistan cricket, he will become a reliable allrounder with both bat and ball. His batting is developing.

Bro WC is in England there will be some big scored.. no harm in having an aggressive player who if he comes off can give us extra 20-30 runs.

An aggressive player would be Eoin Morgan.

Umar Akmal is brainless aggressive.

Infact I would argue there is not much difference between Habibul Bashar and Umar Akmal.

Id rather Umar Akmal than alot of these other players, you guys don;t understand he doesn't play for himself he plays for the team. Could have easily blocked a few dots and then single for 50. He knew it was time to accelerate.

I'm happy to see Faheem bat high up the order because he needs to prove himself with the bat. A decent platform has been set and he has time to adjust himself in. A good 40 odd here would prove that he is an all-rounder.

He is a tailender.. simple as that

I'd argue that it is better to have an inconsistent #4 than an inconsistent #1. However, his best position for me would be #5, with Babar and Haris above him and Malik, Sarfaraz and the bowlers below.

Coming in after the 30th over, Akmal will have the license to play his natural 20/20 game, on the basis of which he has earned his recall. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense to pick someone because he played hyper attacking cricket but then ask him to negotiate the new ball or build an innings/stop a collapse.

LOL okay that taking it to extreme. UK on his day can do it.

YET another failure from Shoaib Malik. I don't know how anyone can STILL support him when read these numbers since CT17 against top sides:

Faheem playing like a true tailender.. I dont think he can bat at all. Maybe can slog a 6 here and there at best.

The good thing is that win or lose, both Haris and Akmal will get another chance to show their skills in the next game. Hopefully, on a better pitch.

Yes 5 or 6 would be great.

But people are wanting him to bat up, construct and show that he is a constructor and an attacker.

His position at number 4 doesnt make sense if has license to bat how he likes.

This is such a 90s batting performance

We might still win with our spinners tying up the Aussies but teams these days are aiming for 280-300 and we are content with 250.

Awkward moment when Klusener is striking lower than Sohail

The pitch is too hard @ some fans.

Then let him open.

If he has that much of a license to hit everything, what is he doing at number 4 ?

That PAK tank can tell better; but right now I'll slot him at 3-4, because PAK's opening options are better now than few years back, even Babar should open in ODI. But, at a time PAK had top 5-6 of MoHa, Shehzad, Azhar, Asad, YK, Misbah, Malik..... that time it was criminal to put him at 6-7; ideally should have batted at 1-2-3, but PAK had to accommodate Hafeez & YK there.

Why r people so ignorant???
This is a UAE pitch. Not an indian. 300 are rare. Why don't people understand????

Don't forget he is the saviour, our knight in shining armour who will save us from the evil Sarfaraz who shouts at youngsters :sarf2

Can you all be patient and wait until Faheem finishes this series and then judge his performance.

See the stats Markhor posted above and try to find where Faheem is. You will be amazed :yk2

Regardless of win or lose here, the batting in this inns has been sluggish and Inept apart from Umar Akmal.

Faheem is certain to start in WC, hence they have promoted him 2 slots up. In that case, for a couple of games, I would like to see Umar at 3 as well.

Those stats don;t define the player he is, usually comes in with 10-12 balls left and gets out trying to slog a six first ball.

This is classic old rugged style batting.

Reach 250 or 260 and bowl out Australia.

Not sure if it will work in England though.

The day Mian Malik gets castled by Maxwell's "Off-spin" - someone should know when to call it a day ..... PCB made him Captain without an assigned deputy means guy is going to play all 5 games !!!!!

This match has been refreshing just to see the bench strength. Otherwise we play the same 12-13 core group ad nauseaum.

Hafeez over Malik any day to be honest

PAK should reach 275+ here with 6 wickets in hand and a set batsman; but Haris is playing for his 100 while Faheem isn't middling it.

Players making their debuts look more confident than Faheem Ashraf while he's batting.

Haris does not look to be playing selfishly so I don't know how you came up with that conclusion. Taking risks and looking for the big shot almost every other shot.

Right, time to go ballistic in last 4 overs with wickets in hand. Aim for 40.

Klusener getting more boundaries from edge than middle of the bat

270-280 is a tough target for Australia here, but considering Amir won't take wickets and Yasir Shah will bowl some half trackers, this will be a tight game.

Guys faheem is 25 off 25 he needs to slog but thats his best score i think thats a great move sending him at 6

He has edged few boundaries hence you can't see it. 30 balls left with 6 wickets in hand, and they are playing in Sharjah - where is the bloody lofted shots?

I think Pakistan scored 50 runs in edges today.

That could be the difference.
