What's new

Pakistan vs Australia | 1st ODI | Sharjah | March 22, 2019 | Pakistan Innings

Never liked the aesthetic of the Sharjah pitch. Looks like a concrete slab. Not an inch of grass.

Don't worry guys, we have Harris Sohail, Malik and Rizwan. They can easily make up for the slow start. Especially, if Rizwan gets going, Ozzies are done.

I feel like, Imam ul haq is about to come dancing down the track and skying the ball soil.

With Imam it feels like your playing Don Bradman on the XBox where you tell the batsmen to come dancing down the wicket before the ball is delivered and after that there is no going back....

wow, spot on. only he did not sky it this time.

I think we can atleast get to a 100 this innings. Not bad

I think Inzy should be fired for selecting this squad...
A 40 year old as captain.. Yasir Shah in the ODI team, Akmal...

What is the logic behind this????

I wish the same. But who has the poerto sack this him?

I am liking this off side field by Finch. Staggered and packed. Bowlers trying to bowl off side and there is nothing our batters can do.

Feels good to watch Shan Masood bat. Finally we have a batsman who is over 6 feet.

Brilliant batting from Shan. Finally someone who's ready to take on the pacers. Leg side and offside! Ye cheez.

Oh boy what would Shan Masood have done to those Saffers on those tracks.

A big miss by Pak by not playing Shani against Saffers in the ODI's.

If Inzi has any intelligence/honesty he would have tested Umer Khan instead of Yasir who is the failure in shorter format. What a waste of opportunities as usual

Imam has ability to find the gaps unlike Shehzad. I really hope he does not let go of this.

This should always be the strategy at the start of the innings, to give yourself atleast 5 overs where you set yourself in and than its easier for you to play your shots after knowing the pitch and the bowlers.

Just wait for a few more quiet overs then we'll get the same old "Test B team/Wow Inzi great selection/Shan-Imam tuk tuk".

Mate this is the test B team. My comment was in response to asking what the staring XI was and not the slow start to the innings.

Players like Shan Masood, Abbas & Yasir Shah have been our Test players and without the likes of Babar, it's hard to call this our Test team.

It would be ideal to test Saud Shakil, Haris Rauf, Umer Khan and Hasnain for future.

Atleast 20 overs of spin today, if Pak can play them well we will be looking at a good score.

Shan looks supremely fit. Wish Babar could have his fitness instead of being skinny fat.

Would be funny if Shane Warne and Daryll Cullinan were co-commentating.

Don't understand what Pakistan is building the foundation toward: there are no Afridis, Razzaks and Akrams worrying to unleash big hits.

Surprising to see our new gen batsmen struggles against spin

I think, they want a back-up leggi to be tested, after looking at Shadab's progress. But yes, instead of Yasir, should have picked a younger Leggi now. You never know, Aussies are not great against spin - on this slow wicket with dry ball, Yasir might trouble them (which won't be good for PAK in WC).

Like I said bro. Imam's technique is too robotic.

Yes it is but with lack of technique around in most players you need a solid opener. It was a soft dismissal but he is gonna get out early in some games as well.

Just saying it's something he needs to improve. I wouldn't mind Shan overtaking Imam in this series. The former is more polished.

The problem is there's a dearth of legspinners in domestic cricket.

I read that amongst the top 40 wicket-takers in the last two editions of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, none are leggies.

class and ability of the batsmen should be taken into account as well,

Will see what Aus batsman can do against spin, they did well in India otherwise they wud have been rolled over by Indian spinners chahal and kuldeep

Success in ODI batting lies in your top 4-5 batting till 35-40 overs. For this the key is strong defense and strike rotation

6 Lefti in PAK line-up, and 5 of the 6 in top 8; I think Maxwell will bowl almost full quota today. 1-2 Lefti is never a good idea, Umar or Malik should have come at 3 and Hari at 4.

No I think it's a good move because Zampa will come soon

I think these both might keep fakhar out if he fails in the England series...so far he has failed in the last ODI series where he played all 5 matches..

We will see such stats when Shadab and Yasir will be with national team and leg spinners like Usama Mir, Karamat Ali, Mohammad Irfan jnr, Ibtisam Sheikh, Shahzaib Ahmed etc dont get regular games

Not sure batting first was a good idea

it is indeed a good idea serving the purpose.. if u bat second and chase a low score, then the idea of experimenting young batsman in this series will not help as not every one will have the chance to bat as Imam will keep his 50s and 100s going...

These wet, grassy pitches don't help either. We need more dry wickets not only to help spinners but for our batsmen to improve their spin playing abilities.

Whats up with these stats of the bowlers showing up without their averages at the start of their spell

After the crowds of psl this seems so boring.
And the batting isnt helping either.

Yes ideally there should be variety of conditions by focusing on certain types of characteristics for each venue throughout QAE Trophy. If this is possible and can be executed than results can be great for both batsmen and bowlers

Predicted score :358

Anything over 260 - 270 plus on this wicket would be really good if Yasir and Imad can give bit of air and spin to the ball to support it

If Pakistan are to get a solid score then they will need these two get a big partnership.

is Pakistan cricket finished yet? just wondering how much blood is on the floor from the wrist slitters adn their leader?

Not sure if this is the ideal preparation for World Cup on these wickets.

They serve no purpose.

Its surprising how some of our fans still don’t understand the role of conditions in how fast and how much you can score.

Many fans compare scores being made in Eng or Ind to UAE. On slow wickets it’s difficult to play your shots, expecting boundaries and scores like some other venues is an unrealistic expectation.

The wickets in UAE are easy to survive on but hard to score. Dead batting is easy on these wickets.

Pakistan need to get out of UAE , such terrble pitches and empty stadium.

Hopefully we will be seeing cricket back in Pak soon. Even ICC executives and some ex players internationally are giving quite a lot of support.

Recently concluded PSL leg was a big message as well with every single overseas player participating for the first time.
