Junaid keeps being our second best bowler after SSA yet we keep on dropping him series after series or select ODI noobs like Abbas, and a unreliable Amir over him.

I mean what has he done wrong to Mickey Arthur or Inzamam to get such a horrible treatment?

Hell, i wont be surprised if the jobbers end up selecting Shinwari over him in the next match. :dw

I think he has to play the next game, drop Amir and Yasir Shah and bring in JK and Mohammad Hasnain. May as well make this the Pre-match thread for the next match as I can't find it anywhere Abdullah719

Play Abid as a wicket keeper so we can have a backup wicket keeper for world cup in squad too in case Sarfraz gets a niggle (Allah na karay).

Abid scored a domestic 200 last year so i dont get the hate he gets due to his fitness. If you can score 200 in a one day match your fitness is ok.

This team makes me stop watching cricket. I don't see a match winner. I don't see any superstars. I see average players thrown into an above average arena. Pakistan Cricket is not exciting anymore.

Where were u in 2015 when our team had hit rock bottom?? At least this team is miles better than them.
You're someone that we call a "glory hunter".
Imagine if a leicester fan stopped watching football coz how bad their team was just before the miracle PL win.

Tbh abbas didn't bowl that bad.
I want amir to get thrashed but pak to win. The best of both worlds.

I didn't come this conclusion all of a sudden. 2015 was probably worst but I don't see any hope of redemption in this team either. And yes i am an unashamed 'glory hunter', because I believe that if you don't want your team to do well in every game and win every trophy than their is something fundamentally wrong with you.

This should be the XI. Hopefully, the Abu Dhabi pitch will have more pace. Shah is just a placeholder at the moment and has no chance of making the WC XI. Might as well put some pressure on Imad, Haris and Malik with the ball and let the four pacers compete against each other.

Except that this team won the last ICC trophy they competed for.

Of course u would want your team to win. But if they don't that doesn't mean u stop supporting them. Do u even know what a glory hunter is?
A glory hunter is a person who starts liking a team just coz they're winning trophies but would stop supporting them if they start losing.
Look at me, i've been supporting lahore since the first psl. They've lost in all 4 but that doesn't mean i'll stop supporting them.

Shaheen isn't in the team. Did u mean shinwari?

We're getting hammered regardless reality check how far we're behind world cricket . Getting knocked out in groups stages in world cup

Won the CT against the same teams, in the same country, just a couple of years back.

it did take us a while to find a proper spinner after saqlain and mushtaq ahmed

saeed ajmal debuted in 2008

from 2004 - 2008 i don't think we had any decent odi spinner... kaneria was good only in tests and arshad khan wasn't that good

Saqlain and Ajmal were ATG ODI spinners. Ridiculously good and it is no surprise that we're badly missing a spinner like Ajmal in our team.

All I want is Pakistan to win every game they play. This team isn’t even close to achieving that. There’s nothing exciting about this team.

No attacking bowling options in the squad other than Hasnain or Shinwari (On his day) unfortunately in these conditions. Not having a good limited overs specialist spinner isnt gonna help either.

And yet Haris Rauf, Umer Khan, Zafar Gohar and also Wahab Riaz were unable to find place in this lineup.

I expect Yasir to be dropped for Hasnain but Abbas and Amir will play. They won't make any drastic changes at this stage given it's a 5 match series. Tail also gets atrociously long without Amir in there.

Classical revisionism.

Just a couple of years back.

On a serious note, the format doesn't suit us one bit in this World Cup. We could play well in every game, reach the semis and get knocked out by one bad day, as so could any team.

So our triumph probably would be seen in making the semis.

Time to get rid of Amir, Shinwari, Yasir, Abbas, Rizwan along with Inzamam and Micky.

Both Micky and Inzi should stop day dreaming about semi. Our team will not win more than 2 matches. Batting has turtle pace and bowling doesn't have ability to take even 5-6 wickets against top teams.

I forgot Malik as well. Shinwari is not an international material.
It's hilarious how he is getting bashed, even though he wasn't even part of the team yesterday.

For the record I agree with Shenwari not being international material.

Pakistan target early wickets to tame Australia in second ODI

Sharjah, 23 March 2019:

Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik hopes his bowlers will get early Australia wickets to help them level the five-match series in the second match in Sharjah on Sunday.

A new-look Pakistan side went down by eight wickets in the first ODI on Friday in Sharjah, and now aim to level the series with an improved performance.

Pakistan posted a decent 280 for five at the back of a maiden century by left-hander Haris Sohail, while recalled batsman Umar Akmal scored a fiery 48 and Shan Masood 40 on his ODI debut.

But, the pace attack of Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Abbas and Faheem Ashraf failed to give Pakistan early wickets. Aaron Finch struck a return-to-full-form 116, while Shaun Marsh scored 91 not out as Australia chased down the target in 49 overs.

The Pakistan cricket selectors have provided emerging and domestic performers an opportunity in this series to show their talent and prowess by resting six frontline players who have been playing non-stop cricket since September 2018. This gives these players a chance to strengthen their claims for places in the World Cup squad, which will be announced at the end of the Pakistan Cup to be played from 2-12 April in Rawalpindi.

Amir’s lack of wickets is a worry for Pakistan and that can bring in 18-year-old rookie Mohammad Hasnain or one from experienced Junaid Khan or Usman Shinwari into the equation.

Stand-in skipper Malik believed 280 was a defendable total, more so at a slow-paced Sharjah pitch where batting second was challenging.

“Yes, that was a defendable total,” said Malik of Pakistan’s total. “What different we must do is to take wickets at the top. There is not much difference.

“We scored 280 runs, which w¬¬as a good total, and it would not have been chased at Sharjah, maybe once or twice it was chased before, so we must keep that in mind.”

Pakistan also included leg-spinner Yasir Shah who went for 56 runs in his 10 overs, without taking a wicket.

Pakistan have not won a bilateral series against Australia since 2002 – a fact that may also bolster them to level the series and then go on to win it.

Australia are also likely to rest all-rounder Glenn Maxwell and paceman Nathan Coulter-Nile, and bring in Ashton Turner and Pat Cummins – both rested for Friday’s game.

Australia are on a roll since winning the series 3-2 in India after being 2-0 down. Finch’s hundred was his first since July last year, while Marsh, dropped from the mid-series in India, has also returned to form.

Finch said it was nice to overhaul the chase for the loss of just two wickets
.
“It was just nice to do it two down and do it a bit more clinically than what we have over the last few months, when we’ve been in that situation. They’re sometimes the best innings you'll play as a batsman, when things aren’t going your way.

“It wasn’t an innings where he [Marsh] hit the middle of the bat and it was free flowing from the start. For him to grind out the first 30 or 40 runs to find his rhythm was really important.”

The remaining matches are in Abu Dhabi (March 27) and Dubai (March 29 and 31).

Why didnt they target to get the early wickets in first ODI? :ht

Target wont be achieved unless they select right bowlers for right surfaces.

Better for you guys to expose the no-body superstars right here then bringing them along with the team at the WC.

Sorry - have been busy this month.

Why isn't Babar Azam playing these games? Injury?

It's good that Micky is willing to try new players. But I hope this series dosen't cost us in WC. I'm hoping our management and coach has a final team in their minds for WC after this series.

Otherwise we might see us perform poorly and WC and lose this series against Australia too.

To prevent injury and fatigue he has been continuously playing games without adequate rest and fatigue was clearly evident during the psl which affected his performance so the team management rightly rested him for the series.

Shinwari is utter dross, Junaid should play and let's see what Hasnain can do.
