Pakistan vs Canada - Warm up Match on March 6th (Thread 2)

Pak have bowled 5 no balls and 10 wides so far, let me guess the culprit was Rana.

Why umer gul is not bowling second spell? Is he OK ?

Gul will be protected as hes are only world class bowler in team right now.

Gul back for another over. Thats a bit of a relief as I was expecting the worst! Lets hope he can pick up a wicket or 2.

well your right, but u get no prize! :P

this is a poor showing all round in my book, we should be destroying this team. rana should be bowling now to see if he can actually do anything right, he certainly shouldnt have opened. noon should be going for more than three an over against these guys.

look at the contrast with the indian game.

writings on the wall...

Wait, it says Afridi: 4 overs 9 runs

he went for 23 in 2 overs?

Nice work by Azhar!

No wonder everyone are writing our chances off. If we cant put a half decent performance in the warm up games against the minnows then i cant imagine how it will go for real.

Why are we panicking at not being able to destroy Canada. They are not that bad and remember South Africa were struggling too yesterday.

Hafeez picks up another wicket, that's two for him. :14:

Asalaam alikum Wr Wb Brothers;

Would someone mind explaining why the hell sky sports is only showing the " india vs holland " warm up match ?. Why is'nt the " pakistan vs canada " warm up match being shown on sky sports ???

Nice to see the scorecard on cricinfo for the " pakistan vs canada" warm up match but dissappointed the way the " india vs holland" warm up match being given more importance.

Davison, Bagai and Bilcliff did not click, but well same could be said about Pakistan batting. Anyways it wasn't easy for Canada to beat Pakistan and 196 is not a bad total to put up, unlike 45 by Bermuda. Hope Canada does well in the WC.

whats interesting is bowling figuers of slow bowlers and yes not a convincing bowling performance though delighted with the batting order.

Rana and Afridi putting in poor performances today. Good match for Akmal, Inzi and especially for Hafeez with good batting and bowling.

Everyone got a bat, everyone got a bowl, and we win comfortably. Good practice match for me.

We gave way too many extras, 25 of them with 5 being leg-byes, 9 no balls and 11 wides. Really not good enough.

Based on this, Hafeez, Kaneria and Rao should be starting in each match. Typical Afridi performance by him. Who says that he should play in the side just as a spinner? Malik and Hafeez are better spinners then him IMO. We should play Kaneria and also let Hafeez and Malik bowl a total of 30 overs. Need two pacers, Gul and Rao, and add an allrounder in Azhar/Arafat and we end up with a very decent lineup.

Hafeez and Azhar cementing their positions in the side. an average performance in the SA will guarantee them place against WI.
I think Araft and Rana might be at risk of playing against WI after this.

CONGRATULATIONS Pakistan beat canada by 77 runs ! :14: :27: :30:

I would have liked to see umar gul to be amongst the wickets as well but anyways atleast he was economical unlike rana naved ul hasan. I believe for the next warm up match rana should sit out and in his place mohammed sami should play. I also believe yosuf batting at one down position is not a good decision. The line up for the warm up match against south africa should be as follows; ( Provided Sami and arafat make it in time to west indies)

PAKISTAN

1. Nazir
2. Younis
3. Malik
4. Inzamam
5. Yousuf
6. Afridi
7. Hafeez
8. Akmal
9. Arafat
10. Gul
11. Anjum

Actually pakistan can rest mahmood and try out yasir arafat and even perhaps rest hafeez and try out kaneria.

For these warmup matches, you can have 13 players in your team. 11 bat and 11 field.

I am not convinced that we are good enough to be considered as a challenge by other world class teams. Lack of discipline in bowling, poor batting performance by majority of main batsmen and inability to woop canada out of the game are not good signs. Just want to warn you dont be too disappointed while turning off your tvs if other top teams kick our ass.

A nice start by the boys.

Perfect way to start a campaign is to just ease into things. Don't want to be going at full intensity for a warm up game. A comfortable win with some useful time in the middle for a few and some useful overs in match conditions for a few too.

Great stuff Pakistan! :14: :14:

As for New Zealand :))) :))) :))) My God, imagine if we had lost against Bangladesh! PakPassion would have crashed and the amount of blood splattered onto screens across the world would have been a world record.

Don’t be surprised—whilst turning off your TV and laptop—when we're celebrating wins against top teams.

Congratulations to the local guy in my area Umar Bhatti for picking up Mohammad Yousuf's wicket.

well i am not too much worried, the next match against s/africa will be a good indicator.

I WILL BE THERE TO WATCH. however it is sadly obvious that rana is now a liability.

it is hardly likely that he may bowl better against stronger oppositions

the margin in the end was decent but i wouldn't say it was a great win. our top order collapsed again at 66/4. we were always very likely to bounce since canada would not hv sustained that intensity for too long but top order failed to impress again.

the bowling, rana statswise was poor. rao started off badly but finished nicely. i would hv liked to see gul pick up a couple. hafeez was excellent. very nice to see that since he has been generally under used by inzy, but he surely is better then a regular part timer. good to see akmal n inzy hit a 50 though

speaking of teams who struggle on slow wickets...what about australia....9 wins and 10 defeats in the west indies(in their last 20 games)....recent 3-0 loss in new zealand....

I dont remember how they did in india and pakistan...but that would have included warne...so that makes no bearing....I think they will struggle...they play on the hardest and fastest wickets in the world.....half of south africas grounds are slow (like the ones pakistan played on ) ....so it's less difficult for us to adapt...

just because they are minnows you can't expect every player to score 50+ and every bowler to take wickets and keep it tight. Not every1 has a good day in one day cricket. The important thing is they had a good "warm up".
