Pakistan spinners strike back to limit south africa to 216/6 at Stumps on Day 2

SA will fight hard. Its spinning but this pitch isnt a nightmare. Standard spin pitch.
 
This nonchalant approach on the field will cost the match in the end. The pitch doesn't give 10 wickets, bowlers have to take it. Fielders have to back-up. Babar and Rizwan need to keep their smile in the pants.
 
Why are all fielders on the fence? Set attacking fields and ask them to hit over the top. Pakistan is expecting pitch to do all the work.

Shan is a crap captain. Pakistan have lost many games from winning positions under his belt. He talks a lot about attacking captaincy but he is as defensive as they come under pressure.
 
Pakistan spinners been introduced to SA batsmen way too early, should had given pace bowlers chance to bowl 3 overs each whilst bowl had some life. Now if spinners fail to dismiss them early what will be the next attacking option.
 
Shan Masood is a poor captain, we have suffered a whitewash against Bangladesh and a loss to the West Indies under his watch and these defeats have occurred because he of his extremely defensive field placings because of which Pakistan have lost games from advantageous positions.

The fact he has fielders on the fence with 378 runs on the board and bare minimum fielders close to the bat on a spinning wicket should tell you everything about his captaincy.

PCB should have moved on given that this is the new WTC cycle.
 
Hasan Ali is in the team as a specialist batter. Noman Chacha and Sajid Don will run through the line up. Salman Agha will pick remaining wickets in case they leave anything for him.

Still don't think there is a better test captain in our 11 though.
 
Man this is the most excited i have been since wasim.and waqar love watching sajid and nomam bowling thank god aqib got this right and give them chances brilliant to watch these 2 enough of so called face factory who are good for nothing.

Hasan Ali cannot bat to save his life, that is why Agha did not trust him and went for 6. Khuram Shezad would had batted better and ceryainly bowled better if pacer have to bowl. Ideally Pakistan need an all rounder in the team pace or spin.

Mubasir khan should have gotten his chance by now. Best and imo, only genuine test all rounder in Pakistan.
 
Tactics all over the place from Shan.

If two pacers are playing. You start with them.

If you want to open with new ball then Sajid is the better option because he grips the ball hard and tries to spin it which is useful when the ball is new.

Overplaying the spin ace card

Should have allowed the seamers to have an extended spell with the SA batters knowing at the back of the mind that spin is around the corner.

Now I think all of them will feel this is negotiable on this deck.
 
This all seems very easy for SA. It's easy to see why they are the reigning test cricket champions.
 
Spinners are only as effective as the fields the captain gives them. A spinner becomes half the bowler on even a rank turner when a captain puts fielders on the boundary, insufficient men close to the bat and allows easy singles.

Pitch won't break. This isn't a doctored pitch and SA batsmen are better equipped to handle spin then England are.

England's solution vs spin is to spin 24/7.

The likes of duckett, Brook aren't good vs spin. Only root is.

SA has 7 out of 7 batsmen that are solid vs spin not to mention in whiteball they have klaseen who is the best spin player in the world atm
 
Babar relegated from slips?

I don’t think I’ve seen him at all in slips, he used to be a regular 2nd/3rd slipper

He is reckless with the bat at times but has played some cameos. He averages in double digits in all three formats & has high SRs but you are making it sound like he is a Chris Martin level batter.

They definitely wanted to inflate their stats for one innings at least

Otherwise there is a risk that some batters might accumulate a total of 40 runs in 4 innings

Tbh not doubting his ability but his mind. I know he even scored a century in domestics but he is certainly not in the team for his batting was my point.
 
People getting irritated at zorzi dont get his role. He just like brook and Travis are their to endlessly bash and put pressure on the opposition that the lead will be nullified ASAP as long as hes around and PK are looking for his wicket more then Rickleton atm.

So understandably his innings will be shaky but SA has upped the run rate

Well. Even if somebody wanted to give the quota argument, Zubayr is "coloured" just like De Zorzi and has a far superior FC record.

Even taking transformation considerations, it's a selection choice that doesn't make sense

Only reason De Zorzi is in the team is because he is a favorite of Shukri Conrad. He is not good enough to play test cricket for South Africa
