Both Giles and Harris were not used as wicketaking options by their respective caaptaans.

They are and were used to give the quickies a rest.

Giles was a LOT more than just that!!!!

he was used by the great MPV to dry up runs, control the game, tie up an end and build pressure.

Tests are won by controlling things on the field.

Pakistani players, captains, coaches and fans generally don't get that.

Giles gave his captain control - not always, but mostly. Of course he was no Warne so it wasn't great control. But when England had Freddie from one end, Gilo from the other, and MPV setting his brilliant and innovative fields, they could mostly dictate where almost each ball was hit!! :))

When was the last time we had openers that could consistently get to 50 on the board without the loss of a wicket?

Pakistan by accident have come upon a good opening partnership here....please selectors remain with them...

Thats the point im rrying to make. The commentators were saying the ball was turning more and thats why rehman got the wickets. Completely ignoring his talent. They forget we also got a wicket this morning.

Overall, weve done a good job bowling them out.

We haven't bowled them out in either innings.

Who's leading SA in the field now? Botha?

His face must be a pretty sight! :))) :hafeez

guys all the talks about our batting improvements do make me very happy
but then i think about the kind of pitches we are playing on
your opinions please?

Bhai,

I think you are getting a bit excited about MPV LOL

But yes i am saying the same thing as you, he wouldnt have been able to give the quickies a rest if he was getting hit for runs, he would have only been able to give the quickies a rest if he was drying the runs up.

Hafeez is not playing Harris well. He just stands there without moving his feet, it's a matter of time before he edges one to the slip or to the short leg. Come on professor!

Don't Know why, When Indians Score Tons of Runs on Dead Flat Pitches.. there is Only Shabashi.. And When Pakistani players do something good on similar Pitches all credit goes to Pitch?

Hafeez pls stop playing these ulti seedi sweeps!

fazool ki tension!

Botha comes into the attack and Taufeeq welcomes him with a :four

Lunch.

PAK 66/0. Pakistan require another 288 runs with 10 wickets remaining.

My opinion is that even if the pitch was flat and true as St. John's (and these ones aren't) - its irrelevant!!!

Most pitches in the world favour batsmen more than bowlers.

That's life.

We need batsmen who can score on such pitches. We did not have them before - now it seems we do, so that's great Alhamdolillah

66/0 at Lunch day 5. Pakistan need 288 runs in 61 overs at 4.72 runs per over with all the wickets in hand.

AZ bhai yaar whos this alex his birthday has been going on for a month

saying this with great sense of not jinxing it
imagine pakistan winning this match over the no. 2 side
that'll be smthg
and has anyone noticed only two players are currently in the playing eleven out of those who played in england
umar gul and azhar ali

:hafeez is a brilliant addition to the side IMO

Aggressive, but doesn't overdo it.

I like the way he plays the game and hopefully can continue getting us off to good starts

we wont win this one. go to bed everyone.
you guys are just wasting your time because the result will only be a draw.
:D
see ya.

i find this fact strange
only two out of eleven
and i am sure if u keep comparing the playing eleven series to series ..u'll find

288 from 63 with 10 wickets in hand...

I say it's game on!

Hafeez & Taufeeq both need to improve vs spinners

thats why we need a Batting coach :ibutt you nimrod!

superb stuff from our openers, have been quite positive so far.

too bad the Saffers killed the contest this morning!

How old is he now anyway? 50?

No wonder you're celebrating his birthday for one whole month - people do that for Golden Jubilees :D
